In my opinion some of illustrations in here could have been better, especially the worm drawings. The artist was far from incompetent, and they have produced very detailed and beautiful drawings, I just think that simple side and front views were chosen so that the specimens could be easily identified, but I would have personally preferred drawings that better showed the form or 3d shape of the creatures, as then their beauty and weirdness can be admired and appreciated even more.
The beginning has some interesting information about the geography of seashores. Most of the book is a very brief overview of the marine animals of the British coast, which is only what you would expect for a little pocket book. There isn't that much about the behaviour or anatomy of the creatures, and usually only a couple of sentences is used to describe these matters, if at all, as some descriptions contained only information on the animal's size or it's differences to a similar species, making this all the more a good book for identifying animals.
I would recommend taking this to the beach as it seems it would be a great identification book.
