Profit First for Ecommerce Sellers focuses on four critical areas that today's ecommerce sellers struggle with in growing their businesses - managing inventory; relying on debt; understanding their financial data; and maintaining focus. While the ecommerce industry presents incredible opportunities, these four areas can also present major pitfalls in the quest for success. Cyndi Thomason has taken the core concepts of the Profit First methodology, created by Mike Michalowicz, and customized them to address the specific needs of the ecommerce business. Profit First for Ecommerce Sellers addresses each of the four major struggles and provides clear and actionable guidance on how to overcome them, taking the online seller from simply getting by to becoming permanently profitable. This book is for every online seller who dreams of ecommerce prosperity.
Short and sweet and to the point, this is an excellent approach to entrepreneurial finance. Any new business owner would do well to read this book as they start out.
I just finished reading Profit First for Ecommerce Sellers and it was an eye-opener. The book simplifies financial management for eCommerce businesses in a way that’s both practical and easy to implement. What I really appreciated is how the author breaks down the “Profit First” method into step-by-step actions tailored specifically for online sellers.
The real value of this book lies in its actionable strategies, something you can start applying right away. It’s not just theory, but a roadmap for transforming your business from struggling with cash flow to building long-term profitability.
Highly recommend it to anyone running an eCommerce business who feels stuck in the “sales but no profit” cycle.
I really, really like this concept and plan to implement it. Finally a book that isn't the same old "find a product on Alibaba, resell it on Amazon."
This book appears to assume you've read the non-e-com book first, that's a loss of 1 whole star. Of course I will now go read that book. :-)
I would have liked a few more examples, including how to pull the information from common selling platforms. I've read this and I'll have to do just as much time researching how to implement the nitty gritty details.
A good overview of the Profit First system and specifically how eCommerce businesses can utilise it. I kinda feel like it gets a bit TOO in depth with stuff in places - but I'm sure there's many entrepreneurs who'll find that level of financial detail useful. Personally, I prefer to keep it simple and get the big picture overview that the Profit First system gives me and leave the rest of it to my accountant!
I recommend you read Profit First (found it to be foundational and better written) before you pick this book up. This book has some helpful tips specific to e-commerce, regarding inventory and reverse engineering product launches. The supplementary spreadsheets referenced are probably valuable. After I implement the system, I will update this review.
This is a great book for eCommerce sellers that want to keep accurate books, know when they need to lower their expenses, and how to generate profit and owner's income. There are downloads from this book that can help you to set up your spreadsheets and accounts. While I may not put everything into practice exactly like she says, I am glad to have the information.
Very satisfied with this book. Humble and honest content with very practical tool! It provide step-by-step procedures for small business’ owner get control with the financial status of their businwss
I read this some months back and I forgot to review. I really enjoyed this book, and I found it extremely useful to think through how to manage inventory purchases and cash flow for my ecommerce business that sells on Amazon and my own direct ecommerce site.
This book is more of a supplement to Mike M.’s Profit First rather than a stand alone book for e-commerce seller accounting. You must read PF before this. There were certainly some good tips in this book but it was long winded and could be easily condensed. It appears the author has some good resources on her website that I’ll be checking out. If you are an e-commerce seller, especially one on Amazon, and reselling purchased items this book may be for you. For a small manufacturer or Etsy shop owner who runs an e-commerce retail shop, this may not be as helpful as you might hope it to be.
Breezed through it. Similar to the parent book, “Profit First” by Mike Michalowicz, there are just a few paragraphs of critical info here and the rest are stories and motivation. The e-commerce angle leans toward Amazon.
