This follows the exact same format as Where Does a Cowgirl Go Potty? and teaches the exact same lesson: using a toilet is so important that it's okay to break into someone's abode and use theirs without permission. The turns of phrase are even more tacky ("bury your treasure", "leave yer loot", "blastin' my britches") and the depiction of the toilet on the pirate ship is pretty ridiculous (I can forgive a ranch house having a proper flush toilet... but an old-fashioned sailing ship?).
Well, now I know what these books are all about. They sound more amusing than they actually are. Toddlers might like them... but the parents who have to read them could find them tiresome.
Funny! A little pirate has "to go potty"- urgently. Everywhere he thinks he can "go" turns out to be someone else's potty. His search ends in a funny way. Great illustrations.
A little pirate looking for a potty keeps ending up in places that are already claimed.
I thought it was dumb when my son picked it, but he absolutely loved it. We ended up drawing an octopus and looking at seashells. Thankfully, this was a library book that I got to return before I read it a million times, but he liked it enough for me to give it 5 stars and to check it out again.
The illustrations are cute, the use of pirate lingo is clever, and my toddler did enjoy it, but I don't think it was very helpful as a potty book. It might be more helpful for an older kid that can understand some of the words and what's going on in the story.
