This is going to be a great series! I’m looking forward to it. Suun is doing everything he can think of to try to protect his people but it seems like everything is falling apart for him. He has been betrayed by those who were close to him whom he thought he could trust. He finally does something drastic in the end. A very sad but hopeful ending in this prequel. But what does the future hold? I wonder if we will find out if his plan was successful. Only time will tell.
Must admit this was not a favourite story to read, found it difficult to get into, but once it started gaining a bit of momentum I quite enjoyed it. Sunn believes he is a righteous God who is fighting a war to save Lynia, his country and his people from the evil of the Dark God Dag'draath, yet everything he tried to do seemed to turn against him and every person he trusted betrayed him till he was losing all hope. Then he took a huge decision, through which he himself betrayed his own dragons, but he did this as a last resort and hoping they would forgive him for placing his country and the humans before them! This book was just a prequel, setting the scene for the 27 book series Legends of the Fallen which are to follow, hopefully these will be easier to follow once this book set the stage!
While I know this was a prequel to get you interested into the main series, I was a little underwhelmed. There was a lot of "A-Ha Betrayal" going on and it was all kinds of obvious from the interactions, but that was really all that was going on. It had polymorph dragons as beings of great magic and that scratched an itch for me. Still the main character wasn't really interesting for a God. Why was he fighting the great bad guy? Because he was the bad guy seemed to be the answer. It was not a bad title and I will read the others in the series, but as a stand alone...I was hoping for more.
Right up front, I want to say do not read this book! Ugh, I had read this before, it must have been long ago, before I was on Goodreads. I had left a review on Kindle and gave it 2 stars, and I'm not sure it deserves that much. I only kept reading it this time because it's fairly short, 186 pages, and I didn't really remember reading it before until I got to the end and that review came up. It's just drivel, not well written, full of typos and misspellings, nothing really happens, and the character who is supposed to be an immortal god is a hapless idiot.
What a magnificent introduction to a brand new series. The beginning of an uphill battle of good and evil between 2 gods that cannot die . One problem is that people around them can so when Onen ( the good one) has people dying and betraying him he has to come up with a drastic solution. I enjoyed very much this first taster that introduced the “ players” and look forward with great enthusiasm to the rest of the series.
Good versus Evil. Onen Suun is immortal and fighting for all of humanity against Dag’draath an evil God. Onen is winning the battles but with heavy casualties. He needs time to recoup his losses and is running out of time. Every move he makes is thwarted by betrayal. This book was interesting and I enjoyed it very much.
An interesting read that was slow to develop. I think the rest of the story has a lot of potential and I will continue reading. I was not prepared for the way the story went. Suun was a difficult character to really get to know. I hope the rest of this long series improves.
Ok this wasn't the best J A Culica book, Quite hard going to start and in fact I put it down 3 or 4 times before I managed to finish it. That said it is a prequal to a bigger series so needed to be read - just hoping that the new series is back to her best work which I absolutely love,
This is going to be a great series. Suun is going to do anything he can to save his people , maybe misguided at times but who wouldn't. Not going to say anymore because I don't want to give anything away , so pick this up kick back and enjoy a quick read into what's going to be a great series 😊😊😊
This is a short read. Onen Suun is a God who is trying to save the land from the evil Dag'draath who is trying to bring everything to the dark side. Who will win? Can Onen save everyone? Why are his trusted turning away? Can he stop Dag'draath?
The story is so riveting. I have read it in less than 2 ful days. I would have liked to have read this bed the first book. It does explain some of the mystery though. Can't wait to start #2.
I really enjoyed reading this book. If you are a fan of YA fantasy adventures, you will love this series. This is the prequel to the set, and involves a wide cast of royalty bonding powers together in an attempt to battle against a common enemy that threatens the existence of all.
I was given this book for my honest review. Read in 3 days, fully enjoyed and explained what he was going through. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
What to do, what to do? If you can't stop the evil person and contain him, war will never stop so Onen set up a trap. Will that stop him, who knows. Good characters, good read.
He's the only one who can stop what's coming... But even he may not be enough...
It was an interesting read for sure but I don't know how I feel about this book. I liked getting to know more about this world and the war but it just didn't explain anything properly. It was just betrayal from all good friends then the leader betraying his closest friends.
Also, this book was not proofread it - i understand there's going to be 27 books in this series but this book felt rushed and just a bit off.
I just did not connect with the story or the characters at all. No connection, no feeling for the story at all which was so disappointing.
Full of betrayal, war, friends, trust, danger and love.
