About the author

Kathleen O'Brien

Since the day Harlequin bought her first novel, Kathleen has published more than 30 titles with them- everything from hot, sexy contemporaries to dark, brooding suspense. Read in more than 30 countries and 29 languages, she's a five-time finalist for the prestigious RWA RITA Award, a winner of the Maggie Award, and a three-time finalist for Romantic Times' Reviewer's Choice.

Kathleen comes from a family of writers, poets, and journalists- though she may be the one shameless romantic in the bunch. A true Cancer, she values home and family above everything and wouldn't dream of ditching a single friend, memory, gift, or love letter. Consequently, her office is a mess, full of books, colored cut glass, photo albums, Madame Alexander dolls, and a cockatiel who whistles the theme from "The X Files." She is addicted to Mozart and Elvis, Dancing With the Stars, Dorothy Dunnett novels, and sugar-free Popsicles.

I can't say that these were terrible novels, because they weren't. Even as shorter stories they were fairly well developed and were well written with likable characters but they were so bland. I didn't laugh or cry or smile. They weren't rich with banter or jokes or soul-deep romance, they weren't overly passionate (and there was barely any sex).

I felt like the relationship between Sarah and Parker was a little too insta-love. I understood that he was attractive with his dark hair and blue eyes, and she had an amazing body and honey hair because it was repeated approximately 5545125 times, but it didn't really mean that they had to fall in love within minutes.

I felt that the set-up to push Griffin and Heather together wasn't at all realistic, or at least that it was a bit tenuous, and I did roll my eyes, but at least they had a past so their romance was at least better founded than I thought Sarah and Parker's was.

All in I have little to review because they were nice afternoon reads that only just held my interest but didn't set my world alight. I won't remember this book by the end of the week. It was safe and easy.

It was good! No surprise here, at page 3 you already knew how it was going to end but it was sweet! Besides the Stewberts were so gooood!

I like this author!

This edition has an added bonus, a short story about Ward and Roberta. Ward is heroine's first book uncle. I love those characters, I'd like to read more on them!
