I am a fan of Dewayne Johnson mainly because of his wrestling career but this book wasn’t that great.
I would have preferred if this was narrated by Johnson himself,it would be more believable. I’m always leery of books about someone else if that person is alive to share their story.
I enjoyed reading through his mishaps and triumphs ,but the book itself wasn’t as daring or amazing as anticipated.
I have to start by saying that although I'm not an active fan, from what I know about Dwayne Johnson, I appreciate him for all his hard work, not to mention his charity and active involvement in improving children's lives. In spite of that statement, this short book was disappointing in many ways. It tried to be a bite size biography/lesson book about an inspirational contemporary figure. Firstly, it contains a very rushed enumeration of Johnson's personal life (less so) and career achievements (a long list that here resembles more a shopping list) that made me skim really fast through them and lose my attention while reading. Secondly, the information it contains can easily be found on Wikipedia and in more detail than in this book. Wikipedia is free too, this book is no and I'm sorry for the writer, but it reads like a middle school essay. There is less space dedicated to the lessons and the only part in the book that I read with a bit more interest was the chapter containing the rules for success. Pity most of them are pieces of advice already heard in various ways. Across the book the quotes by Johnson himself are very very few and sporadic too, not to mention the personal interpretation print of the author is alk over the place. In matter of lesson, again very few and sporadic. I'm afraid that this was neither informative in any way nor inspiring, interesting or engaging for the reader. My advice: read his Wikipedia page instead of this book and save your money.
I am not one to read, I'd rather watch the movie instead. Recently I have started to read, I chose this book because for one, I am fan of this legend. I would say he is someone I look up to for goals and as an icon, a role model as you will.
Throughout the book you learn a lot about Dwayne, some things I didn't know already. I mainly read it for the inspiration of what he went through, how he kept going and I must say he is I felt every bit of what he went through.
I would highly recommend this to someone to have a read. I will now start to read more, specially more from Johnson.
This book is not only very short but very fun. It is an upbeat book on how to overcome the challenges of life. I would recommend this to any audience because it is digestible at any level. This book is not super in-depth which makes it good for people getting into reading or season pros who just want a quick read. This would be a great book to read while enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning. If you need a break from a long book this is the solution. I am reading "And the Band played on" which is long and very dense and this was a good break from that. I highly suggest that you read any book from this series.

This book was a wonderful read. So much I enjoyed his honesty, integrity and dedication Mr Johnson puts into every minute of his life and telling his heartwarming story of the amazing life he has lived with so much gusto to live with love for his family and working harder training diligently than any other person I know of! He has a wonderful life story to tell that I am sure will only get better has such graciousness to helping and visiting young people and helping them set their goals high following his lead in life! What a wonderful individual and might ad so physically accomplished! You continue with your love of life itself being the best person you can be to everyone who you meet! Amazingly successful at anything you put that big heart to! God Bless.
Although this book was relatively short, and certain reviews suggest just Googling the facts, I found this to be an informative read. I really admire DJ's attitude regarding hard work--that seems to be an attribute many people lack these days. People, especially the younger generation, seem to have an attitude of entitlement, punctuated with blatant laziness. As his mantra goes, "Always be the hardest worker in the room". I strive to live by this advice. Embracing positivity--in addition to having a relentless work ethic, are the keys to your success. The only question is: how hard are you willing to work for it?
I was initially excited to read this book. After reading the introduction however, I was seriously tempted to put it down for good. I kept going and did learn some interesting things about his life. Definitely a book for 12-17 year olds. Not an adult biography. I’m not sure what I would really star rate this at from a juvenile nonfiction point of view.
The majority of the book was listing The Rocks movie successes and the money they brought in. However, very little was actually said about the man himself. I was hoping for more insights into his mental mindset or anecdotes to get to know more about the real Dwayne Johnson. However, what I read was a summary of facts that can be found elsewhere on the internet.
Truly fascinating his story about attaining goals and a future to be proud of. I was curious as to why he was suspended from wwe in the middle part of his career if he was responsible for making the wwe so much money. A great read. I liked the addition of a friendship within his wrestling career. (Iron Sheik). Any others, friends with any or females???

Hay Rock I really enjoy reading about your life i was very much inspired.and I am hoping that it can help to start fresh, you see the company that I Work with has close it's doors i am now unemployed and pondering how to start over at 52 years old,but reading this book have made me realize that I can start over some how.so thanks for shearing.
Easy read and informative but not overtly inspiring. I have a lot of respect for Dwayne, he has overcome some challenges. Hard work always pays off in the end. I was hoping for more concrete inspiration. Overall it is good, but don't look at it as a self help, more of a reminder of what you already know.
I really like the simplicity of his book. It is very impressive how he has been been able to achieve so much in relatively a short amount of time. I would say that I would have like to hear more personal stories related to failures and what his lesson learned have been.
Received this as a gift as I’m a fan of Dwayne Johnson. I already know quite a bit of his history and so was surprised/disappointed to read some inaccuracies, especially around his time in professional wrestling. The writing doesn’t flow very well and the book comes across more as a student report than a 360 analysis of a successful person.
If you need motivation to get up and do something then just read this book! Joined the gym after reading half the book! Absolutely fantastic read. Has been my idol since I first saw him on WWE
Interesting and quite a quick read (almost too quick). I wish it went into more depth. Was cool to see into the story of who the Rock is but would have been good to go deeper to learn who he is as a person. Very much a book which is a success story of the "American Dream" mentality.
Through hard work and determination, everything the Rock touches turns to gold. Moving through 3 career changes he never had any quit in him. Emulating the way he has lived would make a success of anyone.
Great thorough snapshot into the life of a Superstar
What he has overcome. Colossal and Monumental. Great schedule of events regarding exercise and the regiment followed which was impressively delineated to greatly contribute to the man he is.
I truly identify myself with your story. I will apply some of your advices to keep pushing forward. Thank you so much for the opportunity of getting to know your roots.
Solid overview of a very interesting life! The writing is clean and flows if it does sometimes feel simple. I would love a bit more detail but it cleanly manages to cover Dwayne’s life and relevant life lessons to sketch the foundation for the Rock’s advice.
I found a multitude of wonderful quotes, I found a few typos too. However a very inspiring read. This should definitely be distributed in schools, our children today need to hear more positivity and that hard work works. Thank you
Love The Rock, but this had to be the biggest pony show book. Don't waste your money. Literally everything in this book can be found online on Wikipedia.
Very simple read and interesting facts. I would recommend this to read since it helps you understand that not many were born successful. It was built overtime.
To be honest nothing interesting just one of those motivational books. Most of the stuff I read about I already saw on YouTube. But the book does give great lessons especially about not giving up
