Solid foundation

My biggest disappointment with the music tuition I received growing up was the apparent failure of theory to cross over into practice. While I stormed ahead in theory, my playing lagged behind, so there was rarely any practical application of 90% of what I learned. This book focuses on the basic elements you need to understand to start with, which you can use as a base to build on and extend from. Much of it was revision for me, but the focus clarified some things I’d never really grasped properly due to my being confused, either by more advanced concepts that weren’t yet relevant, or by sheer volume of information. If it’s new to you, theory can seem overwhelming to start with, but it will give you a language to understand what you hear and a way to communicate with other musicians.

Beginner Music to Music Theory

This was a great layout of information that is digestible and useful. As a beginner bass player with a history of playing music without the theory background, it's made learning bass much more interesting.

I've found this to be a great resource as I try to understand what I'm doing with the notes instead of just mimicking songs and styles I like (which is fine too).

This is a well thought out book for bassists.
He does a great job of explaining the How and Why of music theory as it can apply to bass guitar players. I'm glad I read it.
