There’s only one way to escape Cecily Sheldon’s insane family – take on someone else’s identity. Along with this new identity comes a new job. Of course, to become a Pinkerton Agent, she must marry a male agent who will train her. Now she needs to keep her true identity hidden from Broderick Tanner for fear he’ll arrest her along with her father and brothers. Perhaps living a double life wasn’t a good choice after all.
This is probably one of my favorite books in this series so far. I really liked this story line , a girl who just wants to get away from her alcoholic and bad family to make something of herself and have a better life, it caught my attention from the beginning. Very well told.
Broderick, Rick, in a die-hard Pinkerton agent. Cecily is the daughter of outlaw, Red Stanton. Her two brothers were also outlaws. She runs away from their outlaw like and decided she plans to become a lady Pink. This is the story of Rock and Cecily being partnets. Is that Ok they are meant to be or is there romance in their future? This has excitment, adventure nd some humor too. You'll really enjoy this read.
This is a relatively short fun read. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more of Marie’s books. I liked watching the feelings grow between Cecily and Rick. They were great characters. I also look forwarded to reading more about the Pinkerton agents from the other authors participating in writing these stories.
Cecily wants another life desperately. As a daughter and sister of an outlaw gang she needs a miracle. When she discovers a robbed stagecoach and finds papers for a Pinkerton Agent application of one of the deceased passengers she decides to take her place. She needs to keep her past a secret but why she needs to get married to Rick, the man who was after her family gang? And what will happen when Rick discovers her past, will he ever trust her? Another great story in this fun series, packed with love and adventure.
Cecily is the daughter and sister of a gang. She knows the rob but suspects they've escalated to other crimes. When she decides to run away she happens upon an overturned stage coach and several dead passengers. On passenger had a letter about an appointment with Pinkerton and train ticket. Seeing ths opportunity she becomes Ruth Livingston. She didn't count on having to marry and didn't dream she'd have to go against her family. Really enjoyed the story. The imposter twist was a unique idea.
If you have been reading the Pinkerton Matchmaker series you won’t be disappointed! Each Pinkerton Lady has her own unique story of how and why she wanted to become a Pinkerton Agent. Cecily’s story is fascinating! This book grabbed me and kept me entertained from beginning to end. Marie Higgins writes strong relatable characters that you fall in love with and root for! Cecily and Rick are a great match and bring out the best in each other. There is romance covered with suspense as Marie Higgins masterfully tells the story of An Agent for Cecily. I highly recommend this book! I received an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Really great story weaving. I love seeing a story ... Series actually of strong determined women overcoming adversity and standing up for the protection of others. Add mystery.. Love and you have a fine read.
This book was hard for me to turn down. It starts out with how Cecily and Broderick first meet. He as a Pinkerton and her part of an outlaw family that she doesn't want to belong to. Cecily escapes the family by taking on an identity of a lady on her way to be a female Pinkerton. She finds out later she has to marry the agent training her....Broderick. Will he recognize her from their past visit? Alot of twists and turns in this lovely story. Especially theblast few chapters and the Epilogue.
Continuing on in the Pinkerton series. These two have met, sorta, before. But she hopes he won’t remember. Off they go to San Francisco to solve a missing persons case. Will he figure out who she really is? Will she be helpful or a hindrance?
An Agent for Cecily is truly a fun story to read. I really enjoyed the characters. Cecily is determined to improve her lot in life and succeeds quite well. This story is very entertaining. The characters are strong, strong-willed and just plain fun. Cecily had some unique talents that prove very helpful in her new career as a Pinkerton agent. I highly recommend this book.
Rounding up because it was such a fun ride. I enjoyed this fast paced story about taking your life a new direction. Cecily is adorable. Add a swoony Pinkerton agent and you get a great story that will leave you smiling at the end. I think it would make a great little movie. Obviously part of a series as per the epilogue.
Even better than dreams, to have a matchmaker who has never met them tangle their lives together.... and still get the job done. Twisting and turning their way to happiness, is it possible?
All of the books in the Pinkerton Matchmaker series have been wonderful, and An Agent for Cecily is no exception. The twists and turns in the story of Cecily and Rick kept me engaged throughout. A wonderful read, and I am looking forward to the next book.
What a fun concept for a series! I loved Cecily and her spunk! I enjoyed the relationship she and Rick had together and how it evolved. This is a fun old western romance.
Loved this sweet story! I thought the storyline and characters were wonderful that will fascinate and annoy you equally as they solve there case and fall in love. My free opinion. Thanks
The very end was a bit corny, but the rest was thrilling. This is my favorite premise so far. A daughter of outlaws escapes her family and takes on the identity of a young woman that her family had killed. As such, she becomes a Pinkerton Agent who marries, (unknown at the time), the very Agent hunting her family!
I have really enjoyed this series. This book got a bit steamy in one place, but stopped just short of going too far. Thank you for the knock on the door!
Cecily has a dicey past, one that she is ashamed of - her family are outlaws! Cecily has wanted out for a long time - she hates what they do. Finally, she gets her chance to leave and because of the wickedness of her family she gets a new identity, a girl on her way to become a Pinkerton Agent. Cecily steals her identity and her life, and makes her way to Denver. Unfortunately the man she is paired with is the very man who came to her door looking for her father and brothers. Because she was a filthy mess on that day, he doesn't really recognize her. Their case is in San Francisco - surely she is safe from her family there!
This is a mostly clean read, just one steamy part that doesn't go too far.
Another lovely cover. This story is a bit different, which is wonderful. It is about a man, Broderick, who just wants to be left alone to do his job as an agent. And about a woman, Cecily, who wants to leave her outlaw family. She ends up becoming an agent in training and having to marry Broderick while in training. She is good at reading people and knives. He is good at knowing when someone is lying. But they both feel that they have met each other before but can’t remember where. This is a wonderful story of being able to make oneself better and the help along the way. I loved this story.
I love this series of independent resourceful women. The plots vary as much as the twist into unexpected events that keep them thrilling to read. Enjoy 💜
This is my favourite of the series so far, I love Cecily's transformation and that she and Rick get the opportunity to get to know each other and fall in love before she is judged because of who her family is. I also like that although she had hoped (and convinced herself) that her family had never killed, she is realistic enough to accept the truth when given to her. I like Rick and I love how frazzled Cecily makes him! I also like that he doesn't jump to conclusions, he assesses the evidence before acting. They make such a sweet couple and the love and trust between them is felt in every page. A fantastic addition to the series, which I read on Kindle Unlimited.
While each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone and they are not required to be read in order; they do each have the same origin story and it appears that they have not employed a continuity reader to ensure that the origin of each book are the same. There are small but quite noticeable differences in each of the books I've read so far. They don't detract from the overall story but I do find them distracting.
As with the other books in this stand alone series, An Agent for Cecily has a little bit of everything. It has mystery, suspense, a good twist, some humor and a bit of sweet, clean romance. I can’t wait to read more of these books!
*I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to write a review. All opinions are mine and 100% honest.
I normally don't read short novellas. They always just feel rushed and leave me hanging for more. This book was no exception. I enjoyed the story line. It was a cute and clean romance. I haven't read any other books in the series before this one and it seemed like you could read them just fine as a stand-alone. I never felt lost.
The daughter of an outlaw and the Pinkerton agent determined to arrest him are up paired together as a husband and wife detective team. Cecily has deceived the Pinkertons by assuming someone's identity. As she tries to run from her past, she hopes that the Pinkertons can become her future but things rarely go as planned. Interesting tale.
When I started this book I thought it not very interesting. But after a few chapters the author took off in a direction I never would have thought about that make the story very interesting. I read it very quickly wanting to learn how it would all turn out. Enjoyed it very much & want to read more of her writings.
