Hearts Flight

This is an action movie in book form! The “Royal Danish Egg” is a National Treasure-esque story about a girl named Becca whose life went from mundane to extraordinary with secret plots of treasure hunters looking for the lost Faberge eggs. Becca is a spunky 18 year old girl who’s taste for adventure is only matched by her unending quest for knowledge of the lost and forgotten. Her tumultuous life has led her to the mystery of a lifetime that only she can solve...with a little help of course from a roguish prettyboy named RC. I don’t want to give too much away about the story itself because “it’s classified” ;) but once you pick this book up you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN! This book keeps you on the edge of your comfortable reading chair, coffee shop barstool, shoddily upholstered bus seat until the VERY LAST PAGE!

The third book in the series finds Joshua transported back to 1890 Sisters , Oregon. He meets Adeline and falls for her instantly. The author does a great job building the story and paints her scenes perfectly. Will he make his way back to his time and if he does , will she go with him into the future? It's well written and is an entertaining read.

Reading Secrets of the Totenkopf Rings was exhilarating. The story introduces a lovable heroine who must decode cryptic messages and race across Europe to find out what happened to the rings linked to Nazi Germany. I love stories that combine history with espionage, and this book delivered on both areas. Becca’s journey to unravel Nazi mysteries kept me hooked. She moves up quickly through their ranks with her skill set. She and Reed are a team for a time in this book but then something happens and they seem on opposite sides.
These rings they are searching for seem to be the same (over a thousand of them) but then there are a few that are different. Why? What made them so important to the SS? Who else is after them?
There are many puzzles along the way to solve, so this makes for a fun read.

“Secrets of The Royal Danish Egg” by Doug Penikas and Barb Goodwin was a very enjoyable and quick read. I found myself fully immersed within the story and characters. It reminded me of a similar vibe to Dan Brown’s the DaVinci code series. As it is also a big adventure with secret societies and Historial artifacts but slightly less complicated and detailed. Therefore, less dense and a smoother read. This story is appropriate for adult and young adult readers alike. I couldn’t wait to read the second book which I also thoroughly enjoyed and eagerly await part 3! I can totally see this series being turned into feature film! Highly recommend!

You will not be able to put this book down if you enjoy a narrative with secret codes, a secret organization in the shadows, and cryptic messages. Secrets of the Totenkopf Rings is a compelling blend of history, espionage, and adventure. Becca’s character stood out to me; her cleverness and thoughtfulness as she faces dangers, betrayal, and uncertainty shine through the story. The storytelling itself is superb, and the prose sparkles through the pages. There is so much to write about this book, but you won't be disappointed with the intrigue, the sophistication in character development, and the conflict.

Enjoyable and twisty thriller
Secrets of the Totenkopf Rings is the second book in the Lost Treasures series by Barb Goodwin and Doug Penikas, and while I haven’t read the first book in the series, this one stood as a standalone novel that blew my mind. As a fan of thrillers packed with espionage and historical intrigue, I found myself engrossed in Becca’s daring quest across Europe to uncover cryptic messages tied to mysterious rings from the Nazi regime. Her intelligence and resourcefulness impressed me—she’s not just a typical hero; she’s sharp, brave, and constantly thinking on her feet. The way the authors weave secret societies, such as the League of Griffins, into the story creates more mystery, and then there is the heroine’s companion, whose intentions are never clear. The use of premonition in the story made it even more enjoyable. You have the feeling that someone is about to do something sinister. I loved the way RC is developed, and his presence in the story creates not only tension but also makes it suspenseful. This one was very rewarding.

"I have been keeping secrets from you."
I really wanted to love this book. The plot and characters had so much potential. But unfortunately the execution was lacking.
To begin with this isn't a newer book that was published in 2022 like the listing says. This book was originally published in 2007 and set in 2006, not 2022. To be honest I don't know why she changed that. The story is pretty much the same and changing the setting date just led to many inconsistencies with the time line. Even Emma's age is wrong. It starts in Feb 1944 and says she is 50 but her birthday is July 10, 1894 so she's actually only 49. Not that it should matter but she makes a big deal about being 50 many times. Also, for what appears to be a very well researched book there were quite a few historical errors that should have been caught.
Tom and Emma are great characters, interesting and very likable and they had instant chemistry but I found their actions and behaviors often irratic and inconsistent. At times it was very distracting.
The writing was at times solid and at other times stiff. The story was meant to be suspenseful but too often the drama fell flat. There were ridiculously over the top villains and a side story about Tom's horrid ex-wife and estranged daughter which added nothing to the plot and should have been cut out during the editing. And the ending was simplistic and unbelievable, which was very disappointing.
So, there we have it. The good and the not so good. Taking everything into account this book is a three to three and a half stars.

At first I did not think this was a book I could get into, then that changed.
Time traveling took Shauna back to Mike. Who would have thought about doing traveling in time back in the mid 50s. Wow!
Shauna took Mike back to her era. He helped her mom and dad, who she thought was dead, defeat a regime.
She was good at computers, and decided to live in his time.
He did not want to leave his brother since they only had each other and their aunt who raised them. The dad had stayed away from them.
She at 18, had raised her brother after their parents died. She did not want to leave her brother plus just finding out her parents were alive, wanted to be able to see them.
So with her time traveling, she could go visit them at any time she wanted.

Bill and Jillian meet at a New York cross street and their lives change forever. That afternoon they are on opposite sides of the airline union meeting. That night they are on a plane back to LA, but she gets injured really bad and he follows her to the hospital. Loved the characters, their backstories, intense feelings and support for each other. Her close family, especially her twin, are so great. The storyline has you feeling every emotion from depression and sadness to elation and heartwarming situations. Both had bad relationships and she is very wary, but their love is really strong and true. Loved the ending back in Central Park, along with Lois and Clark. Totally enjoyed this story of finding the one that is really yours.

Emma is on a flight from LA to Chicago, on her way to pick up her dead husband during World War II. A weird electrical storm hits and she is now gone from 1944 to 2022. She awakes to see a pilot, Tom Wells, who assists her into the 21st century. Loved the characters, their backstories, intense feelings, chemistry and banter about inventions like mixers. The storyline was full of drama, danger, secrets, hidden agendas, revelations, intrigue, spies, counter spies, marriage as a disguise, honest love and intimate connections. So many twists, like her neighbor in LA is her neighbor in the suburbs. The ending really gets you on the edge of your seat, and the epilogue hits home. Well done.

Book 2, it helps to read book 1 to gain better insight into the characters. But, the story works as a standalone. Becca is handed a ring by a man who is killed right in front of her. For the second time, she is on the run. However, on this occasion, Becca has the training and access to resources. What she doesn't have is preparation for who it is that is after the ring. The story is immersive and descriptive, following Becca's perspective throughout.

Becca steals the cigarette case for her research and RC has arrived to steal it for himself. But now Becca knows too much, so RC has to help hide her from an organisation who is also interested in the Egg. There are twists and turns within the short narrative. The story is immersive and descriptive, following Becca's perspective throughout.

An interesting read of a woman who time travel today's world.

Well written and developed story. Complex well created plot. Lots of action. Interesting characters and relationships among them. Good reality and background that adds to the story. All together good read.

This is a well written futuristic time travel with strong characters. The author brings a bit of mystery, comedy and a lot of love. It's well written and is an enjoyable read.

I loved the first book in this series and here I am again telling you that I absolutely loved this book also. This was really a fantastic ride. This author has it goin' on! (showing my age) I can't wait for more. What a wonderful way to spend my time.

This was a very good time travel story. This time the hero travels a couple of centuries ahead of our time. Show just what could happen as a result of 9/11. Makes one think.

I liked this book. It's the second one in a series. Both authors have the ability to capture the reader's attention and make them stick with it. Great spy novels.
