Kill Code was a pretty good read. I liked it. It moved swiftly. I like a book that when reading it holds my interest to the point that I can't put it down and therefore finish very fast.
This is the story of Jack & Jessa. Jack is an undercover agent working to take down Mateo, a druglord and gun trafficker. He is sent undercover as a student to Jessa's high school to keep an eye on Mateo's son Maxwell. He falls in love with Jessa. What she doesn't know is he's 5 years her Sr. and also working for law enforcement. Just when Jack's team is about to take down Mateo they get an order to pack everything and pull out. He's supposed to be meeting Jessa at the library to study but makes up an excuse about why he can't. Later that evening, Jack is told that Jessa, her parents and brother are involved in an accident and her body has not been found. (Their car went into a river.) Jack becomes so upset he has to be sedated. He wakes up the next morning and is told that she has not been found and is presumed dead. Jack spends several years trying to find her to no avail. He finally gives up hope, believing she is dead.
Fast forward ten years from the accident; Jack is again working with a team to take down Mateo's crime organization, now led by his son Maxwell who went to high school with Jessa. They are led to a secret farmhouse where they are to take Jay and Dana in hopes of finding Zane, an expert hacker the ladies work with under Maxwell's organization. When they come to the door Jack is floored when he sees the woman he had never stopped loving. It can't be true! Jessa, alive and well, after all these years thinking she was dead! Imagine his surprise and confusion!
From there we get to see their reunion and what follows is often tense but hopeful; both in the shared hope of being together again and also in their shared hatred of Maxwell and the desire to see him taken down. You will not expect the trials and tribulations these two will go thru in their quest, along with a few friends. You definitely will not foresee how this ends.
I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend! It is a well written, easy to read romantic suspense novel. I was given an advanced review copy in exchange for my honest review.
Kill Code is a romantic suspense novel by author Luna Kayne. It is the first book in a trilogy. I enjoyed Kill Code. I thought some parts of the beginning were a bit slow, but overall this book was a good foundation for what is going to be an eventful trilogy. And Kill Code definitely was a novel that built as it went on. The ending was more than I expected. It certainly set us up for an interesting second novel. Kill Code follows a special forces team in search of a group of hackers. I love anything involving hackers, so I was excited to learn more about what was going on.
I liked the characters, and the romance was certainly pretty steamy in parts. I liked the balance of the romantic elements with the obvious suspenseful atmosphere throughout the story. I really liked that this was a reunion of sorts for our main characters. It was cool that Jessa and jack knew each other from several years back. They were both great main characters, especially Jessa. She really came into her own by the end. I can't wait to see even more character growth from her in the next installment of the trilogy.
Romantic suspense is not a genre that I read of a ton of, but Kill Code was a well done example of the genre. I enjoyed it, and I think I will enjoy the next book even more now that I know a lot of the backstory. There are some darker elements of the story that may not be for everyone, but they are intentional because of the background to the story. Just be aware of that. If you are a fan of dark romantic suspense novels, I think the Kill Code series will be a good one for you to check out.
Jack is currently working (with his partner, Logan) with their own ops and security company. At the moment their main target is "Zane" and secondly, "Jay". Their current intel has led them to dismantle Maxwell Sparr's hacking, fraud and treason against the government.
However, Jack has another reason to do this - and it is personal. His love, Jessa, from ten years ago. This from when Jack worked as an undercover HS student. Jessa is dead due to Maxwell and his father's shady operations.
On a stakeout in Kentucky, Jack recognizes two women. Are they actually working as operatives for Zane and Maxwell? And can they really be who Jack believes they are? Either way, they are taken in as "prisoners" and then the real excitement begins!
A very suspenseful thriller with excellent character development. The story moves quickly with both action and determination. I really enjoyed this read and wait for the next book by Sheri Landry.
Many Thanks to Sheri Landry and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
3.5 Hearts This is the first book in a trilogy of a dark romantic suspense. I want to say right up front that there are some VERY dark themes in this book. Meaning some scenes could be difficult to read.
The story was good. There was a bit of background that had to do with Jack and Jessa. Which is part of the story to get to know our leads and the reason for the undercover op. Then it fast forwards 10 years and Jack and Jessa find themselves face to face again.
I thought the story was well written but the dark parts were a bit hard to read. I will pick up the next in the trilogy to see how the story progresses.

Kill Code is an action-thriller that deserves a sequel! Some scenes may be triggering, so be forewarned. The characters and what they experience are believable. The male characters are a bit intense, but given their line of work (security and military-style force support), it is understandable. I love the two hackers in the story as they are smart and strong females who experience intense horrors in their lives. Despite those events, their capacity to love is not destroyed.
The action begins in the first pages, which begins ten years in the past when two of the characters experience devastating losses, but their love remains. In the present day, there are even more action-packed thrills, shocking reveals, and betrayals, rekindled romance, intense interrogations, fantastic computer hacking, a bit of humor, all in a page-turning book that you will not want to put down.

Oooooooo this book’s plot was fascinating and kept me interested throughout my reading. There were points where I was like... oh I know what happened/I know what she’s about to do.. and then BOOM plot twist, completely different than what I thought. Great book, fascinating action/romance read
Kill Code is the first book in the Zero Day series and is a fantastic start to the series.
The dead have come back to life as Jack sees Jessa alive after believing that she was dead for the past ten years. This book has great characters, strong, and intelligent. The storyline is compelling and action-packed, keeping me engaged from start to finish, with danger, suspense, intrigue, and steamy romance.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Book one in the Zero Day series a well written story that held my interest from the very first page. Jessa and Jack's story has suspense, drama, danger, a villain, murder, a woman in hiding for the last ten years, and a second chance. I want to read the next book. All I can say is be prepared for a heck of a roller coaster ride! It was hard to figure out who was coming and going but let me tell you Jessa and jack are well versed

Excellent. Well written. It's an exhilarating story with plenty of twists and turns. There are some parts that are difficult to read so I caution you to use your judgement in reading this book. Happy reading!
I truly enjoyed reading this book. The beginning was a little slow for me, but after a short while I was truly engaged into the book and read it in just a few short days. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a good, thrilling read. I did get a little confused because the chapters would give Jessa’s perspective and then Jacks, rather than everything moving forwards at once. I am truly looking forward to more books by Sheri Landry and can’t wait to read more! I give this a 4 star because it took a short time before I was truly captivated. But other than that I would recommend! Thank you NetGalley for a free copy of this book in return for a truly honest review.
This is the 1st book that I have read by this author, and I hope to read more. I found the characters believable, the chemistry palatable, the storyline intriguing. All I will say is, buy this one and enjoy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The rollercoaster ride of emotions was so intense! The things Jessa went through would break a lesser person. I love how much Jack loves her and tries to help her. This was an amazing book. I was caught up in the emotions and feeling for the characters. I'm excited for the next one!
Luna Kayne rips her hero’s heart out in the first chapter of Kill Code. The pace and pain do not relent until the final page. Jack works special ops for a federal law enforcement agency, which makes him a seriously tough guy; but when he meets Jessa on an undercover assignment, he falls for her like a stone. Then she goes missing, and Jack goes crazy. Ten years later, he’s still in special ops, trying to live his life. He’s in a partnership, running his own company. The stakes are high as they raid a home in the middle of nowhere . . . and find Jessa, rising like a ghost from the past. She has become a computer whiz, a hacker without parallel, a woman on a mission. She also holds some of the same professional and vengeful interests as Jack does. Lessons are learned as, unwillingly, Jessa and her sole support, Dana, are whisked to Jack’s compound to be interrogated. The plot spins out from there, tense, action-packed, occasionally warm-hearted and at times horrific. The author herself warns of dark and explicit themes, and readers should heed her warning. Some women particularly (men, possibly, as well) will find triggers in this work, and perhaps be uncomfortable with scenes of controlling behaviour. Others will experience some scenes as erotic. That said, Kill Code is a tightly-paced, well-plotted novel with a heart-racing climax, featuring not only a great twist but . . . well, let’s just say the ending works. Very well.
I was literally on the edge my seat throughout this whole book. I couldn’t put it down and had to know what was going to happen next.
Jessa was torn from Jack’s life, but 10 years later she shows up again and neither of them expected to see each other. Their reunion was hot, but it was also shrouded in mystery. What had Jessa been up to all these years, what was she planning?
There are some dark scenes throughout the story, however, don’t distract from the plot. I feel they are truly needed for the story to help explain some things. I know it may not be for everyone but it is definitely not romanticized in any way.
It is so hard to talk about this book without spoiling it, but it is definitely one you’ll want to read because the ending BLEW me away. It was not something that I expected. It does a good job of setting up the story for the second and possibly third books in the trilogy.

Luna Kayne’s Kill Code is one of the most intriguing books I ever read. It had mystery, romance and suspense. Luna did a very good job describing the settings of this book. The way she envisioned the surroundings of the compound and the details of Jessa’s lost memories. I was really taken away by the story line. It carried a lot of emotions for the reader to endure some that were hard to experience as well. Jack’s dedication to Jessa was just beautiful the way he kept her safe. The hardest scene in the book was the torture bit it was really emotional and I think if you’re light at heart it can really touch you in a way that you can feel bad for Jessa and just want her to fight back. I really liked this book and I think anyone who picks it up will love it.

I truly enjoyed this book, it was more than just an erotic novel, it had an in-depth backstory and surprises along the way. I connected with the characters and many times was holding my breath to see what would happen next. More so, I greatly enjoyed Jessa, and how, in the end, she was truly the heroine of the story. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

I bought Kill Code in Paperback. I found her book on twitter through the #writingcommunity. What can I say I loved it. WOW!! It was well written from beginning to end. I didn't want to put it down but I was tired so I finished it the next day. The darker themes of the book are well written and handled well. The steamy scenes are awesome. The ending surprised me and I look forward to reading more of her books.
Ive read every piece Luna Kayne has put out and this novel took it to a whole new level. Kill Code in its well rounded story of suspense that left me unable to put my phone down, sprinkled with some intense steamy scenes, definitely delivers a kill shot.

Heart wrenching from the first chapter, this book never loses momentum. The twisted plot drags the reader through every emotion imaginable. Well written, this book has wonderful characters that leap from the page and embed into the imagination.
Congratulations, Luna Kayne, for a fantastically thrilling romance.
Luna Kayne has done it again, but better. Kill Code is deeply intense, fast moving. Draws me into the story. Luna doesn't shy away from hard topics. Giving her usual grown ass adult twist. I can't wait for part 2 of this trilogy. You need to read this book!! Thanks, Luna for another well written story.
I really enjoyed this story. Really good plot to the story. Very well written. Would highly recommend it to anyone who likes these kind of stories. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Thorough good read, well balanced characters with some depth and the story line kept you hooked to the end, some readers might double guess the twists and turns but will be still entertained. Luna definitely has a way with words looking forward to future books sequels or otherwise, thanks Luna!
I received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for an unbiased review. Thank you author Sheri Landry and Netgalley. The book releases April 2020.
Deliciously dark, this book reminds me for some reason of the 1980s movie Tequila Sunrise (except with hackers instead of drug dealers). Both leading men are Alpha males with secrets. Throw in a corrupt crime syndicate and smokin' hot tension between Tessa and Jack and you have a winner! I love his control issues. This would've been a hit 80s era show. The vibe and verbiage are certainly right for it. Although the prologue and first three chapters are dense and somewhat awkward with backstory, by chapter 11 I was hooked. If you can get passed the beginning the rest of the book flows wonderfully. It bothers me a bit that Jack, even with the 5 year age difference, as a special ops undercover federal official, has no guilt or ethical qualms about having sex with a high school student. It does, however, give him that bad boy with a big heart appeal. I think his character would be more sympathetic if he expressed some professional struggle with his feelings about Jessa during that high school period. I got hung up a bit on that in the beginning. I sincerely hated Logan all the way around. From his toxic way of addressing the ladies in the beginning to his pushing Jessa near the end, I hope he ends up getting his own book where he gets all "tied up" figuratively speaking of course. I'd love to see him in love.
Even though I wouldn't classify this as a dark romance, I think this book would benefit from a trigger warning. Jessa's past rape is handled well in the book but Logan's hostile way of dealing with her, along with the bdsm elements should be noted in the synopsis. Overall, the initial flow issues aside, I loved the book. The action, the hot men and Jessa overcoming her past. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out.
Jack has never stopped loving the woman he thought perished with her family in a tragic accident. He is working undercover as part of a special ops team on a joint operation to catch the target responsible for a major crime syndicate. He will be stunned to discover Jessa isn’t dead and appears to be working on the wrong side of the law. I really enjoyed the operational detail as well as the hot scene between Jack and Jessa when he claimed the person he had never stopped loving. It was good to see Jack the experienced operative show he still had a soft side when it came to Jessa. There was a lot more substance to the steamy romance I was expecting. Exit Plan is the first book in the Kill Code trilogy and the authors skill at drawing me into the story and keeping me there makes sequels an attractive proposition. Some readers may find a few of the scenes upsetting due to their violent nature. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a free digital copy of the book.
Gripping from the beginning to the end. The intensity of this book is off the charts. After Jessa comes face to face with Jack after ten years, everything they have told themselves for the last decade come into question. What is real? What isn't real? The truth is hiding somewhere and they will both find it. Jessa and Dana have made their way together completely hidden from the world. Jack and Logan have spent the last decade looking for her suspected killer to take him down. They discover many things were never as they seemed. Jessa's capture by Maxwell was gut wrenching. Her steadfast determination to take him down is awe inspiring. Jack's determination to get back what they lost for so many years is extraordinary. Logan's ability to not lose sight of the end game and the lengths he goes to is astonishing. This book is a must read!
This was my first Luna Kayne's book, and won't be my last. This is the first book in the Zero Day Trilogy, a Dark Romantic Suspense. Jessa and Jack's story is suspenseful, action packed, and filled with twists and turns. The storyline is intricate, and captivating. Impossible to put it down. Ralph Scott and Kendra Murray did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
