An English country manor - the perfect inheritance, and the perfect chance to get that film contract. All Zelda has to do is make it look perfect for Christmas. That shouldn’t be too hard. But the manor has other ideas… perhaps she should have just sold the place, but it’s too late now. When Zelda’s Grandparents left her their house, her Mother was annoyed – it should have gone to her, but Mother would have sold it. Maybe Zelda should have done that too. But how could she? It was perfect for the new drama the Beeb were planning. All she needed to do was to host a Christmas party and get a film crew to film the house. The footage would convince the producers that her manor was just right. And Zelda really needed the money.
But something was just a bit odd - the Grands had made it a rule to vacate the manor every year, the week before Christmas and not return until January, her mother didn’t want her to stay there and the estate lawyer had a letter for her from beyond the grave, warning her to leave at Yuletide.
She had to believe that the Grands were simply addled, and her mother was superstitious.
But when alarms with no power connection start blaring, doors lock and unlock at random, and a strange leering man appears in her bathroom mirror, and then she half sees him all over the house, Zelda begins to get worried. It’s all just her imagination, right? But when the decapitated heads of Santa and the Snowman appear on the end of her bed, worry turns to terror. Perhaps the Grandies were right to warn her…
Can she keep it all together, and survive to hold that perfect party? Or will the film crew arrive to find a horror scene? Can Zelda save herself and her manor in time, or will she fall victim to the Yuletide Curse?

I love christmas haunting books. This one was a bit repetitive, but I didn't mind it. The use of anchors to find to get rid of the ghost is overused, but I found in this book that it worked out better than in this authors other books.

Just in time for Christmas, Cat knight has given us a lovely holiday haunting! Are you kinder to strangers during this time of year? What if your benevolence backfired? How would you deal with a ghost bent on destroying your Christmas? Lord Livingston’s good deed came back to haunt him, literally. Now his granddaughter must try and settle the angry spirit.
Zelda has lately inherited Livingston Manor from her grandparents. She has invested her all in having an upcoming Christmas party filmed. If she can’t sell this project, if it isn’t a success, Zelda could even lose the manor.
The caterer is hired. The manor house has been decorated to perfection inside and out. Zelda doesn’t see how anything can go wrong…until she takes up residence just a few days before Christmas.
Alarms begin sounding for no reason. Apparent vandals interfere with the outdoor decorations, repeatedly. Zelda suspects they have even made it into the house, though the place is locked up tight.
Stories flow through the local town about the reason Zelda’s grandparents chose to spend their holidays away from home. Even though she doesn’t believe in these ghost stories, Zelda has to admit the happenings at the manor are very strange. Will Zelda come face to face with the angry ghost of Livingstone Manor?
Ms. Knight deftly infuses her characters and settings with all that's needed to make her story believable and for the reader to care about what happens to her protagonists. In this case, it’s the story of a young woman who, despite coming from old money, has been managing on her own earnings.
When she receives the unexpected inheritance of her grandparents’ old manor house, she dumps all her money into fixing it up. She plans to recoup her money by hosting a Christmas party to hopefully be televised as the premiere episode for a show she hopes will be picked up for TV. She has a lot of anxiety and wants everything to be perfect.
However, she didn't know about a family curse when making these plans. Instead of success, the house may cause her bankruptcy, if it doesn't kill her.
As things begin to go wrong, the author allows terror to build, but there's also a humorous element to the activities that made me feel more sympathetic toward the poor girl. I also enjoyed how thoroughly British the book was, I could “hear” the accents in the dialogue.
Horror fans will have a perfect read over the holidays with this! It's fairly short, but still very satisfying, with some great scares.
I very much enjoyed this haunted and haunting tale, from the beginning where the stage was brilliantly drawn to frame the initial cause, right along as Granddaughter Zelda, an attractive upscale Londoner, inherits her Grandparents Livingston's estate, then is cautioned from "beyond the grave" (via letter entrusted to solicitor) to stay far away over Christmastide. That doesn't suit willful Zelda: she WILL have a Christmas Eve gala, and it WILL be filmed for BBC.
Only: the Livingston Christmas Curse says different.
I enjoyed all of Cat Knight's books I have read, so far. I like how this story takes place at Christmas. Zelda inherits a house with a curse on it. She does not believe in curses. She prepares for a Christmas party, when strange things begin to occur. I like how things start out subtlety and then get worse. Zelda is brave and determined to solve the haunting., And save her livelihood.
The Yuletide Haunting. Another great book from Cat Knight. This book like her other ones grab you from the very beginning and keeps you guessing until the very end. If you enjoy ghost stories and mysteries then this book is for you. I enjoyed this book immensely. I highly recommend this book and author.
The perfect spooky story for a Christmas I thoroughly enjoyed it .I do love a good haunted house tale. Its become a bit of a tradition to read these types of books at this time of year for me.
