While investigating a series of threatening letters being sent to an Indian couple she knows through her bridge class, Cassie Swann tracks down a woman horse trainer who may know something about the murder of Cassie's father twenty years ago

Susan Moody has given numerous courses on writing crime fiction and continues to teach creative writing in England, France, Australia, the USA and Denmark
While waiting for my to-read books to become available at the library, this one caught my eye with the cover and title...a bridge mystery. Talk about false promotion! Not one hand of bridge was played (the King of Hearts was actually the name of a character) and the mystery was unbelievably lame. What a waste of time.
This is one of a short series of books about professional bridge player, Cassandra Swann, who somehow gets involved in murder and mayhem. In this entry, one of her bridge students, an Indian doctor, is brutally murdered in front of his mistress's flat....but the mistress is not the only suspect. There is also a back story of the 20 year old death of Cassandra's father, Handsome Harry, a pub owner and raconteur, who Cassie believes was murdered. Mix in some colorful characters and you have a fast moving and humorous look at Cassie's life and how she deals with the question of "who dunnit".....it is a fun book.
