This story is very dull. I did not make it pass chapter 7. A broke hero has to marry the heroine for her money.

2,5*. Es una novela romántica...paranormal? Pues no sé yo.

This is a delightful historical romance with a paranormal and festive seasonal twist! Lady Mallory Hughes is a debutante with a difference - yes, she has a large dowry, but the difference is that she is psychic and often "sees" the future when she touches someone. Her father and brother look on this as a curse and have kept her hidden away with her aunt who has a similar talent. Now, however, they have arranged for her to marry Silas Anson, who has recently inherited the impoverished earldom of Lichfield, though the two of them have never met! She travels, chaperoned by her aunt, to stay with her best friend and it is there that she is to meet her betrothed for the first time. However, the meeting provokes a vision for Mallory, the vision of her future husband's death! She has promised her father to keep her talent a secret from Silas until they are wed, but how can she prevent his death without revealing how she knows?

This is another great read by this talented author! Both the hero and heroine initially have secrets from each other but the attraction is there and builds through the story. Silas has had an unusual upbringing, living with his mother and two siblings in Paris, assuming his father and other family members want nothing to do with them. Now, as he connects with his family he makes discoveries that alter his view of what happened. He anticipates Mallory being a shy, reticent debutante, not the determined young lady she really is. As the two get to know each other there will be misunderstandings, life threatening scenarios and surprises as well as obstacles to their relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and appreciated how the story flowed with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. It is an engaging read and I have no hesitation in highly recommending it!

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

I received a copy from the author for an honest review.

I always love the books I get from Christina. I love the world she builds so effortlessly. In this book, I loved the new twist she gives to our Lady Mallory. It’s something new she added to one of her books. She keeps true to her historical roots but adds a bit of fun to it along with mystery.
Silas has had quite a life. His mother runs away with him and his siblings. When he returns his father is dead and the family estate in ruins. He should follow the plan of an estate squire to keep his family name out of the gossip of the Ton. Silas is not thrilled but he will do what he must to keep his family safe.

Lady Mallory is traveling to meet her betrothed with her aunt in tow. She was promised that if she doesn’t find the Lord to her liking she is free to walk away and be a spinster like her aunt forever. However, sparks do seem to fly pin their initial meeting!!!

When Lady Mallory and Silas meet we see some chemistry but both are not sure of the other. Silas worries what Mallory will say when she learned of his family. Mallory decided to follow and then check in on Silas when she discovers he is not the most truthful of people. Mallory’s extra gift plays a part in the story making us wonder what is going to happen.

I loved the story and look forward to more in the series. The book was a great afternoon read on a super-hot day. It gave me reason to just sit on my butt and enjoy the air conditioning!! LOL

Bound by the Christmastide Room by Christina McKnight is a quick read, a Novella.   Originally published in Kissed at Christmas (Castle Keyvnor Collection)

I love Christmas stories, and this author brought the spirit and magic of Christmas together with this brilliantly written tale of two strangers, their secrets and an arranged marriage. The cast of characters are charming,  engaging and believable.  The plot was fantastic,  a lady who can predict the the future and a gentleman who needs her dowry.  Lady Mallory Hughes, has a large dowry, and she’s inherited her family’s gift, of sight.  Silas Anson, inherits the earldom of Lichfield from his  father whom he never knew, he has one goal in mind to protect his siblings, to do this he must marry.Sparks fly when Mallory and Silas meet, and as they say.... the rest is history.  Readers will find some surprises,  twists and turns, secrets and a Christmas HEA.  A great afternoon read to help get you in the Christmas spirit.  An absolute delight to read!

I'm really enjoying all the Christmas stories I've been reading lately and this one is no exception. Christina McKnight does a wonderful job with Silas and Mallory's story and I just loved both their characters.

Silas is such a wonderful man and even with his quirky family giving him all kinds of fits, he loves them unconditionally. He needs money, though, to protect his siblings and estate. As for Mallory, she has "the sight" and because of it, her family have mostly hidden her from the world. Now she finds herself facing an arranged marriage with Silas and is terrified of him finding out about her psychic abilities. All she wants is love and a family of her own to care for but when she first meets Silas and "sees" him being killed in the near future, she must do everything she can to save him.

A very sweet story that held my interest from start to end. Add in the fact that it all takes place around the Christmas season just makes it that much better:)

Perfec... Passion... Fabulous...
Perfecto... Encantador..

Christina McKnight creates wonderful stories that have a little added surprise and this story is no different. This is the story of an arranged marriage between two strangers who are both trying to hide secrets. Silas is determined to protect and provide for his 2 siblings but in order to do that he must marry money. Mallory has always wanted to be loved and have a family but her family has kept her hidden because of her gift and now she must hide her gift because she fears it will end her betrothal. An arranged meeting and circumstances threaten to destroy their union but fate and love prevail. A fantastically written novella that is heartwarming and entertaining.

Secrets

This was a very well book written by Christtins McKnight and I enjoyed reading this book. Secrets, a young man inheriting a title and no money, a young lady with her own secrets, a best friend, a old castle with family, a young foolish brother and sister and an engagement and finding unexpected love. There is more to read and if this book intrigues you, buy the book and enjoy reading it as much as I did. Enjoy

Me he aburrido mucho.

An interesting twist on a holiday romance. Everyone has a secret, some more complex than others, but it's good when this couple finally open up to each other and realize they are a perfect match. Interesting characters, even the secondary cast, make this novella a delightful read.

I am a huge Christina McKnight fan. I love Regency romance and I love holiday books. Combine an arranged marriage and a little bit of a twist involving psychic abilities and you have a short wonderful read.

I loved Silas and Mallory, and they were wonderful together. Both were as the old song goes "a couple of misfits." Silas because of his unusual family situation and Mallory because of her "ability." That ability has her seeing the death of her betrothed. and though they don't know each other well, she wants to be married so she can have a life of her own..

I love how things worked out for them and how her psychic ability got something wrong.

This was a really quick read, and I love stories that I can read in a few hours, especially after I've read something heavier. This book was refreshing and the characters were sweet.

As with most novellas there's always something I wanted a bit more of, and in this case it was Silas' family. I definitely wanted more about his mom and the hows and whys of her taking off with them to France. That's the one thing that made me wish this particular story would have been a full length novel, because there were so many areas that could have been explored. However that didn't detract from the story at all. That was just me being greedy.

This is a must read for regency lovers

I have read quite a few of Christina’s books over the years and I always enjoy them because they are a bit shorter and always sweet.

Bound by the Christmastide Moon is no different, and again I am loving the added paranormal to the story. In this case, Lady Mallory has visions. See, we are not talking about vampires and werewolves here.

In this story, we have Silas who inherited a nearly destitute estate and well we all know the drill he needs to marry a lady with a good dowry.

Pretty usual theme, but with a twist!

I like the twists.

Like I said, Mallory has visions and Silas’ backstory is not the greatest. So we are putting two really uncommon characters together and I enjoyed it.

There are misunderstandings, wrongs to be righted and 2 people to fall in love!

I have a special fondness for Mallory’s aunt, she was a lively character and added that extra spice to the story.

I finished the book in one go, as a novella it was a lovely fast read and I enjoyed it very much. If you are already a fan of Christina this is very much in the spirit of all the books and if you discover her here for the first time, then this is a wonderful intro.

If you want something to relax and enjoy then Bound by the Christmastide Moon is the book for you! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

This beautifully written story packed full of deep emotions and hopefulness caused this reader to read the book in one sitting. It's the perfect Christmas romance book.

The thing about Silas that impressed me the most was his strong character and his love for his family. The author's does an outstanding job of showing Silas' desires to protect his family. Meanwhile, how he goes about getting what he wants keeps this story on the sweet warm side.

I would have loved to be like Lady Mallory. Her kind heart and fears of exposure keep her watchful yet open to new beginnings. Thus, making her the perfect wife for Silas, in my opinion. Her kind heartedness also is something that could heal Silas' broken heart in regard to his father and his childhood.

I recommend everyone read this book and give it 4 STARS.

I was excited about the plot: Mallory can see the future! and she sees her betrothed's dead. But... It didn't live up to my expectations. It had a good start maybe half the book but from there it went down, therefore a little boring. I just felt there were some things I was supposed to know, for example regarding Molly's friend, Felicity, or Silas' family. I even checked if this was part of a series.

About the protagonists, I rarely like more the girl than the guy but in this case I surely liked Mallory more, Silas was average kind of flat. I really thought they will marry first and then everything progress from there... falling in love and all that. But no. Maybe it's that what doesn't allow me to believe they fell in love.

This is a sweet, romantic and engaging story. Silas is kind, charming, sweet and interesting. Mallory is caring, lonely and determined. Silas grew up in France, but went back to England to take over his late father's title. Upon learning that he is broke, he takes his estate managers advice to marry a girl with money, and leaves it to the manager to arrange a marriage. Mallory has been banished to live with her aunt because she gets visions, so she jumps at the chance to marry and escape the loneliness. They have an awkward first meeting, and issues a few problems with the truth, they are a very likable couple.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

Boring at first but alright after the half.

My other comments:
- Ladies used reticule in the Regency period, not handbag. If they are the same thing, then the handbags were called reticules during that era.
- Shouldn't be cloaks taken off and left at the entrance? I don't think it's polite to dampen the house owner's upholstered furniture.
- Silas shouldn't baby his twin brother and settle all his debts. Let him grow up on his own.
