First off, I really enjoyed these books. The world is very interesting and developed, the characters are fun and engaging. It was the perfect read for my vacation.
However, there are a few issues. It could have been, and probably should have been just two books. The lengths are so disparate, it could have been edited to make a solid duology. Also, the editing in general was just not great. I was taken out many times by poor sentence structure or just a missed word, etc. It just needs a good pass-through.
Overall, I would recommend it to other fans of historical fantasy.
