Ava hates wearing her new glasses. But what if Little Red Riding Hood had just put on a pair of glasses? Or Little Bo-Peep? Or poor old Humpty Dumpty? Maybe Ava will see how spectacular her spectacles are after all...
Cute little story that puts a spin on traditional fairy tales, imagining how differently things would have turned out if the main character had just worn their glasses! A great encouragement for students getting used to wearing their own glasses.
Using characters of well-known folktales as clever examples, a savvy teacher gives a girl who hates her reading glasses many reasons to wear them. However, the story ends without fulfilling the promise of the title. Telling the rest of Ava’s story, such as the discovery of a “spec-tacular” new world of books, would also avoid the abrupt ending.
Aww! A lovely teacher convinces a girl who’s not too fond of her glasses that the pros outweigh the cons. I wish the book was meant for a little bit older level- 5-6th grade is a pretty common time for kids to get glasses and they’re sometimes very self conscious about them. This book is a little too young for that age.
Ava doesn't like wearing her glasses but doesn't do well in school without them. Then her teacher tells her what would have happened if Little Red Riding Hood hadn't worn hers, and Hansel and Gretel could have found home, Humpty Dumpty , Bo-Peep, Little Miss Muffet, the ugly duckling, and the little mermaid had worn glasses they wouldn't have had so much trouble.
Cautionary tale about the importance of wearing one’s glasses, with fairy tale characters demonstrating the bad situations that need not happen if only those pesky glasses 👓 are worn!!
I think that the storyline is so cute. I loved the interaction between the main character and the teacher as they talk about how fictional characters' stories would have ended differently if only they wore their glasses.
Okay book, but if kiddos don't know classic folktales, some of the content might not make sense to them. Great story if understood about finding confidence about wearing glasses.
