He had such blue penetrating eyes; and a smile as innocent as a child. His face was extremely expressive. Were these the qualities which had made me crazy about him? Oh no! Then what was it? Why was I so crazy about him? There were many handsome men all around me, in my house, in my neighbourhood, in my college. On the contrary, they were as young as me, unmarried too. Then what was it that I was so attracted towards him? The answer was crystal clear. It was his style, his versatile personality, his attitude of asking, `So What?` in an audacious manner. I was enchanted by his straightforwardness, his ham-handedness. Dr. काशिनाथ घाणेकरांवर लिहिलेल्या या पुस्तकात त्यांच्या जीवनाबद्दलच बरीच माहिती मिळते. काही गोष्टी पुस्तकात खूप जास्त तपशिलात लिहिल्या आहेत असं वाटतं. ते प्रसिद्ध नाटककार. त्यांचे काही सिनेमेही आहेत पण त्यांना प्रसिद्धी मिळाली ती नाटकांमुळे. माझ्या / आताच्या पिढीला त्यांच्याविषयी जास्त माहिती नाही, कारण त्यांचे थोडेफार सिनेमेच आता उपलब्ध आहेत, तेही खूप जुने असल्यामुळे खराब quality चे. पण लेखिकेने म्हणल्याप्रमाणे सिनेमाचं आणि त्यांचं कधी जास्त जमलंच नाही. त्यामुळे त्यांच्या उपलब्ध जुन्या सिनेमांवरून त्त्यांच्याविषयी काही अनुमान काढणं चुकीचंच. कांचन घाणेकर या चंदेरी दुनियेतल्या प्रसिद्ध सुलोचना लाटकर यांची मुलगी. जेव्हा लेखिकेने त्यांच्यापेक्षा 15-16 वर्षांनी मोठ्या असलेल्या काशिनाथ घाणेकरांबरोबर लग्न करायचं ठरवलं तेव्हा त्यांना बराच विरोध सहन करावा लागला. त्यामुळे एकूणच या पुस्तकात त्यांच्या स्वतःबद्दलचे आणि सुलोचनादीदींबद्दलचेही बरेच तपशील येतात. काशिनाथ घाणेकरांचं पाहिलं लग्न, त्यांची प्रसिद्धी, त्यांचं व्यसन, मग खूप उशिरा केलेलं दुसरं लग्न, फसलेले सिनेमातले प्रयोग, आणि काही ठिकाणी दिसणारी घमंड या सगळ्या गोष्टी खूप तपशीलात मांडल्या आहेत. अगदी क्वचित काही गोष्टींचा तपशील देण्याचं टाळलं आहे. प्रसिद्ध चित्रपट '..आणि काशिनाथ घाणेकर' हाही या पुस्तकावरून बनवला आहे. माझ्यासाठी परत परत वाचण्यासारखं पुस्तक नसलं तरी एकदा वाचायला ठीक आहे. जे काशिनाथ घाणेकरांचा काळ जगले आहेत त्यांना मात्र हे पुस्तक नक्कीच आवडेल. आणि हे पुस्तक लिहिताना लेखिका स्वतःशी प्रामाणिक असल्याचं बऱ्याचदा जाणवून येतं आणि त्यासाठीच 4*

Honest yet mesmerising !!!!

This is an honest attempt to share the real life personality of the great Artist, Actor and an Asset to Marathi Theatre. Great Salute Mrs Ghanekar for making it available to all generations. and an indispensable attitude toward the life. After reading this, my belief in the right attitude further strengthen. Believe in yourself and give an honest attempt. Success is all yours. This is certainly one of the chosen few which I would love to read again and again

It is a very engaging biographie of the legendary Actor Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar. It is written in a very simple language. The marathi movie "Ani Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar"(played by Subodh Bhave) was fantastic. This book has some interesting stories, facts, letters, situations, etc. Opens up about Aai, Baba n Dr. Mentions Dr's theatre work, films, Dr's colorful personality (which I have many doubts), about Irawati, having love interest for Dr, childhood, love for each other, various ups, downs, happy, emotional, bad, worst, good situations, a very good human being, Mauritius n Europe tour, tough decisions (marriage proposal), Dr Lagu, 'Daru', धोंडीराम, arrangements for the wedding, after marriage challenges faced, रेश्मा, n Dr's bad news with the last letter. I feel that the author has provided too many insight stories n letters which were not required. लहान मूल सारख - was too much (I think).

One of the beautiful book i have read in the recent time.

Beautiful, overwhelming and informative. After reading this i am quite sure one can easily get fascinated with the charismatic personality of Late shri Kashinath Ghanekar. After reading the last three pages I had a lump in my throat.
