The Demon's Bride

Rate this book
I’ve belonged to a demon my entire life and nothing is my own.
Not my body, which belongs to the Legion of spirits within me.
Not my soul, which belongs to the demon master who’s coming to claim me tonight.
Not my life, which has already been entirely decided by his cult of worshipers.
Determined to live a life that belongs to me, I commit the ultimate sin and run from the only family I’ve ever known. Freedom lies in the arms of a hardhearted angel named Gavreel, but the demons we must rely on for protection from the hellish Duke who owns my soul are masters of temptation.
The hardest part about saving my soul is resisting them.

Note: This is the first book in a slow burn WhyChoose romance series, stories get progressively steamier as the series continues.

The first book in a new series by this author, this one being a kind of paranormal/fantasy involving demons and angels, with a female main character who is a vessel possessed by a legion of spirits. I find the entire concept of this book extremely interesting. It is written very well (just a couple of errors/inconsistencies) and I like all of the characters introduced thus far, including their great names! Indira (or Indy) has a bunch of powers/capabilities no one has seen before, so some might think of her as a special snowflake but I actually liked all of that about her, personally. It is slow burn in terms of physical action and I wish it was even slower burn with regard to emotional connection, as the heroine and one hero seem attached in this way already, despite little development on page. I like everything that happens in the book, I would only advocate for more detail, especially with regard to her interactions with others - a little bit more in terms of showing her training sessions/conversations with Kef rather than telling us of them - some is shown, but not all, and that sort of thing is something I really enjoy. I really like Corinth, Gavreel and Kef, and it's not even clear if all of those three are meant to be harem members, but if they are I hope things continue at a slow pace, with more on-page interactions between them to really build the connections between the characters. I wouldn't call the ending a cliffhanger, per se, but it does kind of seem like the middle or even third of a book, rather than a complete story arc. Either way, I will definitely be reading the next one, and am looking forward to doing so.

The Demon's Bride is the first book in a new, slow burn, reverse harem series by River Ramsey. Honestly, when I first started this book I wasn't very interested. It seemed a bit slow to me at first and I ended up putting it down for a few days before returning to it. But wow, am I glad I picked it back up. While this story didn't pull me in from the first page, it slowly grabbed my attention until I was completely absorbed in the story. I loved this read and can't wait for more!

This book is about a girl named Indira, a nineteen year old child of witches who was raised in a cult dedicated to the demon Rahzeth. And if that wasn't crazy enough, she was born with a legion of spirits in her mind, dedicated to be his bride and give him the power to take over the world. On the night of her "wedding", Indy hears a voice guiding her escape. Leaving behind the cult that raised her she ends up with an angel and a slew of demons, hiding out in hell from the demon she was promised to and the angels who are after her.

Even though this story deals with the angel/demon heaven/hell theme that has been written about countless times, this author delivers the story in a completely unique and engaging way. I know I said it took me time to really get into this story, but when the demons and purgatory and hell were introduced, that was when I really became immersed in the story. I also loved the addition of the dragons in this story and I'm really eager to see how they'll play a part in the future.

Indy is an interesting character. She was raised by a cult, essentially manipulated and kept captive her entire life. But once she is with the demons in hell, she experiences a type of freedom that she's never had before. She has the chance to get stronger and really understand her abilities and the reasons both heaven and hell want her on their sides. When dealing with Gavreel, Corinth and the other demons she demonstrates a strength that she never used in her previous life. I enjoyed getting to know Indy's character over the course of the story.

This is a slow burn reverse harem, and by the end of this book, Indy doesn't even have her harem yet. It's interesting because, although you can see it beginning to form as she develops relationships with various characters in this book, we really don't know who she's going to end up with yet.

I really ended up enjoying this book and I'm very excited to read more of Indy's story. There's so much more to discover about Indy and her abilities and the different realms in her world.

First and foremost, this is the story about a girl who has never been more than a pawn until finally, someone, for their own reasons, breaks her from the cycle of being used and not so subtly abused and saves her right before stuff gets monumentally worse for her and basically the world in general.
I enjoy Indy so much, she’s the type of girl I’d meet and happily chill with, like, BFF’s for ever to infinity – she may have been a victim of the Poster People for Bad Parenting and she may have almost given up on the idea of a life of freedom but this girl has spunk in spades! She’s incredibly well balanced considering that she’s taken having multiple personalities to a completely different level and is only just coming to know herself and her capabilities and her power. She is, at heart, smart and fearless and just completely magnificent, in spite of having so many reasons to just surrender to being a weeping willow in a dark corner. No-one knows what they have in her – not the ones who saved her and not the ones they saved her from.

You’d be selling this book short if you decided that it was just another book about the battle between good and evil. It’s not. It’s about all the blurred lines in between, it’s about motivations and it’s about relationships that thrive even when eyes that see only in black and white believe that they shouldn’t.
There is so much complexity and intrigue in the storyline matched perfectly with a fantastic pace and brilliant character development that makes putting it down nearly impossible. I can’t tell you the contortions I made myself go through to not stop reading!

I respected the slow, slow burn of the romance, because she was young, naïve about so many things including basic knowledge of herself, and, as a result, innocent in so very many ways. There’s a certain charm to the slow burn, to an RH that doesn’t RH from the get go – it’s… beautiful.

I am going to have to set aside some real quality time to spend with the rest of these books as they come out… kids love ice cream for supper, right? Dairy is good???

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and was very pleasantly surprised at how well this demon/angel reverse harem romance was written, it is the first book in the series and I found it to quite exciting & suspenseful.
The story-line and plot is excellent & well-written with intriguing events. The characters are well-developed with individual personalities and have realistic emotional feelings of needs & desire.
It is about a young woman (Indy) who is determined to live life on her terms and runs away from the only family she has ever known straight into the arms of a hardhearted angel (Gavreel) but she will have to resist the temptation of the demons who will try to tempt her back.
There is: adventure, action, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, demons, angels, witches, covens, family beliefs, rituals, angels, possession, destiny, fear, desperation, choices, hope, danger, enemies, adventure, action, secrets, physical conflict, confrontations & disbelief.
Sadly this book does end with a cliffhanger and I will wait with anticipation for the next book.

Off to a fantastic beginning!

So I wasn't sure how this one would turn out because when it comes to demons and angels reads, I either super loved the series or super...not. This one definitely turned out the former - I love it!

And the thing was this read wasn't the insta-love kind of thing. I mean, it did start out great but the thing was I did fall deeper into the book the more I read. Thus, this read had a fantastic way of building up the plot and the characters.

I thought I was going to be frustrated with the heroine but surprise, surprise I really love her! Yes she was the type to wing it but perhaps at the same time in a balanced way? Plus, she trusted her instincts and so far hers never steered her wrong.

Speaking of instincts...her spirirts aka her legion was another very interesting thing about her. They were a bunch of amazing spirits/spiritguides?

As for her men, they (at least the ones I consider) kind of grew on me in the end. So far, I like Kef best.

Definitely want to read more from this series!

This is the 3rd bookof River Ramsey’s that I’ve read and I just can’t wait to read more, and if she keeps writing stories like this one then she will end up in my top 5 of all time favourite authors. Indy has been promised to a demon before she was born, everyone in that horrible cult thinks that it’s a really great privilege but Indy doesn’t see it that way so she runs away right into the arms of an angel called Gavreel. Indy believes that her body and soul belong to her and not some demon master, she’s never had any choice in the matter but with Gavreel’s and Corinth’s help maybe they can keep her out of the demons clutches. If you want to know what they do then you need to get this amazing story it’s a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

No spoilers of any kind included except one and that is there is a cliffhanger.
This book was good but it took me awhile to really get into it.
To me it just seemed to drag until the last chapter which it picked up and got really interesting but then it ended on a cliffhanger leaving me with a lot of unanswered questions.
I’m torn on this book because I want to know what else happens to the MCs but I don’t want another story that drags on and on.
There wasn’t much of action in this story I don’t think and there sure wasn’t any steam at all.
For the beginning of a series this book wasn’t the best so all I’m going to say is try it and you be the judge because I can’t help you in that department.

Such a great Imagination and what a world she us creating.

Wow. This author can really create a world out of Heaven, Hell and Purgatory. Indira (Indy) really makes you want to cheer for her. She is a 19 yr old virgin that has been promised as a Bride to a Demon since her birth. On the day he is to take her she escapes and is helped by her Guardian Angel. She meets Gavreel who takes her to Purgatory to hide her from the demon that wants her as a bride. Then she has to leave and go to Hell. Once there she meets a demon lord Corinth who is also a very interesting character. So much happens to Indy and wait till you meet her spirits. I can't wait for Book 2 THE DRAGONS DAUGHTER.

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but it in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also this author is new to me, but this won’t be the last book of hers I read.

Holy shiznet!!! I couldn't put this down. I read this book in one evening. It grabbed me from the start and just wouldn't let go. Indria started out as a meek girl, but turned into a sassy, strong woman. I felt so bad for her at being raised by such horrible parents. Gavreel really didn't act like my idea of what an angel should be, but then neither did Corinth or the feast of the demon knights. This story has so much going on. I'm so looking forward to reading the next book. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up.

I found this book very intriguing. I got hooked pretty fast. The story is just so different from any paranormal romance I’ve read before. This is only the first book and I really hope she does right a second one as this does end in a cliffhanger.

The main character has been promised before her birth to a demon. So talk about parent issues. Her family never hurt but more treated her like she needed to be sheltered from everything. But when her 19th birthday comes around her time is up. Add in several demons and angels and anything is possible in this story. I will say I love the confidence she has and the will to keep found on is amazing.

This the first book I've read by this author and to say I'm excitedly disappointed is an oxymoron... at first I didn't know what to expect... but to be left hanging in a realm of Hell with an injured angel without the full knowledge of the extent of my powers is SO NOT WHAT I HAD IMAGINED ... where is the next book that is the only way I will regain my sanity at this point....
Excellent unexpected find and even better read. The characters are lively. The dialogue is expressive, and OMG! WHERE IS BOOK 2

Wow!

I have to admit this book is freaking amazing! I love the world that was created and how at any second Indy could rip right through it! I was in awe of Indy going from a controlled uninformed girl to an amazing strong woman who isn't afraid to go get what or who she wants I love Gavreel and Corinth  they are kind understanding and selfless. this book has everything you need to get out of your head and in to another world.

This is the first book of a new series by River Ramsey and it's amazing. Indy is finding out about her life and the cult and her parents plans for the rest of her life. She barely gets away alive with the help of Gavreel an angel. This book has action, mystery, adventure and surprises that you won't believe. This is a cliffhanger, can't wait for book 2.

I am a major fan of books in a romantic series and this one is off to a great start. I like how Indira matured into a strong capable young woman who knows what she wants and will do what it takes to get it. Falling in love with Gavreel was a good thing, something that called to her inner strength and determination. Well done!

This is the first book in the series that's tells the story of Indira, a girl who was promised to a demon at birth. The world built during the book was well thought out and the way it was written sucked me in. I enjoyed the cast of characters and i look forward to seeing how her future relationships develop.

Get ready for a Hell like no other.

When I started this book I was frustrated with Indy. As it continues, I could see her character fleshing out and getting stronger and smarter through each chapter. I actually even like the demons she is involved with. This is really exciting and full of surprises. I can't say how excited I am anticipating the next book.

Great start of a new series! Indira is trying to figure out who she is in this book and grows as a person, this results in the romance being very slow burn - not that I'm complaining :)

I didn't add the fifth star because this installment didn't give me a WOW effect, but I still enjoyed reading it very much!

Interesting storyline

Stuck in a family coven promised to a demon once she's turns 19. She is then saved and on the run from demons and other entities. Truly slow burn no more then kissing, it was a nice change of pace
