PQ17: Convoy to Hell is an extremely well written book, drawing on the recollections of two hundred survivors.

My grandfather was on the Arctic convoys during WWII. It haunted him for the rest of his life - one of the few episodes about his time in the Fleet Air Arm he never spoke very much about. Before reading this book, I knew a lot about the convoys already but still learned some new things.

Enthralling, but at the same time harrowing, PQ17 is dedicated "to all the men who survived PQ17 and to the memory of those who did not"

My Father was a PQ17 survivor and this book showed me just what a harrowing ordeal it must have been i think serving on this convoy left my father with a lot of demons which i don't think he ever really overcame.
