Two cousins, one aunt, and a suitor – what could possibly go wrong? Georgiana Darcy’s head is in a spin after being invited to London for the Christmas season. Thrust into high society, she is overwhelmed by the attention. Her cousin, Colonel Fitzwilliam, and the dashing Lord Hugh DeVere come to her rescue. But all is not as it seems. One is goodness himself, while the other has all the appearance of it. With her head full of love and matrimony, can Georgiana see the gentlemen for who they truly are? Having dreamt of finding true love, will she accept a match that dazzles on the surface, or dare she strive for a love that fills her heart?
cute but rather tedious story. I'm not sure if I was just ready to stop reading xmas stories or that the story plot was just okay. there were allot of inaccuracies for Regency and just plain errors. EX: Col F says it's almost 2am and Georgianna states that he's right the clock says 12:55 am. In my book that's almost 1am. Also there needs some editing. One paragraph was repeated 3 times. Just a little irritating. I have read this authors other books and enjoyed them tremendously so I believe that my review is most likely based on both reasons. Will have to revisit this at a later date.
Georgianna Darcy finds love in this story that is told with wit, charm, interior and scoundrel along the way. Having a season in London at Christmas time leads to a false love interest who would seize an opportunity to have the 30 pounds per annum as his main motive and a suggestion of a caldestine meeting may mean her ruin or will it? Thoroughly enjoyed this tale where stands on her own merits with Darcy, Elizabeth or other P&J chapters to assist that we have met before. You will fall into liking her, cousin & new found friends as well as loathe the dasteredly man who only wants her money and an heir to satisfy his father before taking up with his mistress once again. You can be sure that you will be greatly entertained!
This is a quick read and a perfect Christmas read! Miss Georgianna Darcy has just returned home from visiting her aunt, Lady Henrietta Matlock, and she is so excited she can hardly contain herself as she approaches her brother at his desk. Fitzwilliam Darcy was, at first, worried about his aunt and immediately asks his sister if she is well. Georgianna hastens to tell him that Aunt Henrietta is fine and has made her a proposal. As her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bennet Darcy, joins them, absently rubbing her swollen belly, Georgianna tells them that Aunt Henrietta, who has recently lost her husband, has no desire to sit in her country home for the holidays and wants to go to London and she would like Georgianna to accompany her and make her debut. Although Mr. Darcy is disappointed that he will not be there to witness his sister's debut, it would be unfair to make her wait another year. She has just turned 17 and he and Elizabeth will be spending the winter in the country as they await the birth of their first child. If they make her wait until the following year, she will be starting the season older than the other girls making their debut. So they agree to let her go but Mr. Darcy has a word with his cousin, Richard who is Aunt Henrietta's son, to spend the holiday at home and to keep his eye on Georgianna. When she was younger, Georgianna had been taken advantage of by a gold digger young man and had run away with him, thinking herself in love, so her brother and Elizabeth are a little worried that she may be taken advantage of again. Mr. Darcy is hoping that with Richard squiring her around, she will be watched and kept from making another mistake. What follows is a turbulent season, with some of the worst storms in the history of weather in London. There are pitfalls and romances galore and you will be rooting for Georgianna to keep her head about her and find the romance that will be true love, just like her brother and sister-in-law. It is a thoroughly entertaining read and has a wonderful festive feel that is perfect for Christmas. This is book # 5 In the Pride and Prejudice Continues series. I had not read the previous four books, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of this book. And I fully intend to read the others now that I enjoyed this so much. Enjoy!
This is the second Christmas story in the Pride and Prejudice Continues series by Karen Aminadra. I did not like this as much as Christmas at Longbourn. There were many grammatical errors within the book. Georgiana Darcy is a teenage girl who does not know how to fend off the advances of the rake, Lord Hugh DeVere. She has come to stay in London with her aunt Lady Henrietta Matlock, the mother to Richard Fitzwilliam. Throughout the whole story Georgiana cannot voice her own opinion or make up her mind about hardly anything. She relies too heavily on others for her protection. She does manage to get rid of Lord Hugh’s advances when her cousin Richard has found out he fathered an illegitimate child on a poor clerk’s daughter and will not take any responsibility for the child. Richard and Georgiana finally reveal their true feelings for each other by the end of the book. It just took a long time to get there. One would think after such a close call with the nefarious Wickham, Georgiana would have been able to realize and spurn DeVere’s advances at an earlier time in the story.
Miss Darcy’s Christmas is book five in the Pride & Prejudice Continues series by Karen Aminadra. This book is well written but it starts out very slow. I found myself wanting to skip the first two chapters; however, once I made it past chapter five it picked up the pace. Georgiana Darcy is spending the season in London with her aunt in the hopes of finding a suitable match. Once there she meets a devastatingly handsome man named Hugh De Vere. But De Vere is not what he appears to be. When Georgiana is championed by her cousin Colonel Fitzwilliam, she finds herself drawn to him. I felt that the author spent way too much time getting Georgiana and her Aunt Henrietta to London. In fact, I almost stopped reading. But I’m glad I persevered, because the story unfolds to be a truly lovely sweet romance. I would be interested in reading the other books in the series. I was gifted a copy of this book.
ONE SWEET ENTICING READ!!! Man, this is a hard one. I truly enjoyed reading this little gem from start to finish. All the drama, uncertainty, heartache, steady paced, smooth flowing, heart pounding, pulse racing, page turning that captivates and draws you in. Twists and turns, ups and downs, ins and outs, along with a few unexpected circumstances and unpredictable surprises around every corner make for one incredible experience. The two main characters have such depth and individuality. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it's to relate. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it really pulls this little jewel together beautifully. With such in-depth descriptions it's easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Karen did an amazing job bringing this read to life. Great job Karen, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
As with any readers of Pride and Prejudice I was pleased when Darcy protected his sister Georgiana from the perfidy of the rogue of a militia officer, George Wickham. Well, for those who love the Darcys and wonder what happened later to poor Miss Darcy, Karen Aminadra’s Miss Darcy's Christmas (Pride & Prejudice Continues Book 5) provides the answer. And what a wonderful answer it is, a beautiful Regency holiday romance, beautifully written and tremendously enjoyable (and yes, Elizabeth Darcy does appear). But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend.
Excellent! ...And so this story continues - and it is just as good as the original was. The build up to the eventual proposal is great and each character plays his or her role to perfection, so much so that there is one character you will probably find yourself just 'loving to hate'! The interaction between them all is well orchestrated and they make the story flow like a beautiful waltz. Someone recommended that I read this story and I am very happy that did! I am quite happy to continue this recommendation and hope you enjoy it as much as I have. My review above is given voluntarily and is unbiased.
Miss Darcy finally gets her story. I loved reading about Georgiana in this Christmas tale as I felt I kinda missed reading more of her story in Pride and Prejudice. This is a wonderful love story with some unfortunate incidents which I felt were covered very discreetly here. I felt her aunt should have known better than to encourage a relationship with no background info on the Duke. But that’s what makes a story interesting. I loved Richard’s concern for his cousin enough to go far beyond his duty in order to protect his cousin. Overall I truly enjoyed reading this story and would recommend this book to all lovers of regency era books.
Such happy girly squeals!! Loved this! I'm a huge Jane Austen fan and I've read quite a few books by various authors and this was truly memorable! Georgiana has always intrigued me and I was so excited to see this book release! This is paced perfectly and each of the characters are so beautifully fleshed out! The scenes are brimming with detail and the dialogue is entertaining and both witty and vibrant. I love a well written Christmas story! Watching Georgiana fall in love was wholly enchanting! I loved who she ended up with and could not have wished for a more perfect conclusion 💕💕💕💕 I'm very excited to delve into more of the books by this mesmerizing author!!
This is a perfect romantic story. I hated to stop and go to sleep. I particularly enjoyed the conversation about London’s lack of sewers and the cholera problem. I enjoy historical books that introduce me to details that bring it to life. I didn’t want the book to end. I wish there was an epilogue showing where they lived and how many children etc. Or maybe another book in the series that will show them in the future. I will be reading more of Karen’s books.
I tried to continue reading but I could no longer stand it. When you hit someone on the arm, it is done with a closed, not open, fan. When you join several people, you do not need to go off in search of one of them. Did no one ever look over the book with an eye to consistency ot historic accuracy? Full of anachronisms and Americanisms. Did not feel at all like I was in Austen's early 1800s. At times it felt like New York at end of 19th century. Art others, there 20th.
Okay so it isn't the best P&P continuation I've read, but there have been worse ones. Much worse! A lot of the phraseology in this book is wrong for the period and some of the servants say and do some odd things. For example going in through the front door would not be acceptable, neither would the butler say "Right you are". On top of that Georgiana's Aunt changed her tune, in respect of Georgiana's romance, more often than she changed her clothes. It's no wonder the poor girl was confused about things. Still she got the right man in the end.
In this P&P sequel as the Darcys spend winter at Netherfield awaiting the birth of their first child Georgiana is in town staying with the Dowager Countess of Matlock. Here she meets Lord Hugh DeVere, while Colonel Fitzwilliam offers to be her chaperone when his mother is unable to attend. But are the people she meets what they say they are, or is Georgiana again in danger of falling for the wrong gentleman. An enjoyable well-written romance story
After reading this story I want to read the other four books that are already out. This is a new Author for me a nice clean Christmas story. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I always adore a Georgiana & the Colonel romance. They are few and far between. This sweet little story was a perfect Christmas gift. Would love to read more of their story.
For half of this book I was mildly annoyed because it did seem Georgiana was falling for Lord Hugh an I always like her with Colonel Fitzwilliam. Luckily, the truth comes out about that scoundrel and the future is secured. Such a sweet ending!
Enjoyed this sweet story of Miss Darcy's first foray in to society, where she is torn between her suitor and the feelings she is developing for her cousin.
Miss Darcy's Christmas by Karen Aminadra Pride & Prejudice Continues Book 5. A good story to curl up on the couch with a blanket and enjoy the journey. My free opinion. Thanks.
A wonderful Christmas story. Georgiana finds her love in this story but not before she is up against a scoundrel again. This is nicely written and I love the descriptions of Winter in London.
