I am so glad it was this author that brought me back to my biker roots, I haven't read this genre for months and straight away it reminded me why I love this authors words so much, straight away your under her spell as she weaves a tale that had me glued to my ipad ignoring the world around me, loving the unique storyline, the characters, the gritty rawness, the never wanting to close that last page, needing, wanting the next book, excited to see what she's going to bring us next year. Without a doubt this was an easy five star rating for me.

I met Bull, the president of the Devils Dust MC, a few years ago and he was easy to fall in love with. When I saw that his grandson, Zane, was getting his own book, I knew I had to read it. How could I really pass up this chance? And I loved everything I learned about Bull's legacy.

Zane knew, from when he was very young, that he wasn't like other boys his age. He had a darkness that lived inside of him, which thrived on violence. Luckily for him, his father had his own beast and helped him find an outlet. Nothing silenced his demons quite like killing did... except Addie. She was his sunshine. The blinding light that brightened all of his dark spots. But a relationship with her was forbidden. It was all well and good that when they were growing up, they were thick as thieves. However, their parents felt that when hormones were at their highest, they needed to make new rules. Therefore, they weren't allowed to be with each other. And yet, both Zane and Addie wanted no one else but each other.

“I need you. You pushed the voices in my head to the side. It was just you and me tonight.” Our eyes lock, our souls and bodies bare of any secrets. “I think maybe, I just needed you this whole time.” - Zane

There was tons of drama, a bit of angst, a series of violent events, and finally we were given hints of Zane and Addie getting their chance to be together. While this couple is at the start of something that could be beautiful, I'm left wondering what will happen to the character that started this journey for me in the first place. What will be Bull's fate?

I am and will always be a fan of M. N. Forgy. After stating that, this book is not one of my favorites. The Blood that Drives Us is ok but it's not Forgy's best. It lacked depth to me. In no way am I suggesting that you not read the book. In fact I encourage you to read it. It may be your next favorite.

The Blood That Drives Us is book 1 in The Devils Dust MC Legacy which features Zane, Shadow and Dani's son and Addison Doc's daughter and Bobby's step daughter. First let me start by saying I love that the author decided to move ahead with the new generation. I love that their fathers are around but new blood is being introduced. Now for this book, it was predictable, Zane is a replica of his dad, and at times it was repetitive but you know what I don't care because I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed Addison and Zane together but I did think Addison was a little immature especially since she is 6 years older than Zane. Another thing that shocked me was Bull, I'm not sure what's going to happen but my heart is broken. Overall I can't wait for more in this series.

If this had been longer it would of been epic.

It was so short, fast and had so much potential.

I liked the characters, the world, the setting.

I just wish the author spend a little more time building everything up. This would of been excellent.

4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
POV:Dual

I received an Arc copy via Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.
I love M.N.Forgy. And was excited when I received an Arc. I'm still in shock!
Have some tissues at the ready. There's a lot of emotions people!
This is the next generation (the brats) of Devil's Dust.
We have Zane,  who is Shadow and Dani's son. He's just as dark and menacing as his father.
Addie is Jessica (Doc) and Bobby's daughter. Even though growing up in club life she feels like she doesn't belong. She just needs to let loose the club rage in her.
The two of them were so close when they were kids. Until they reached teenage years. Their parents felt uncomfortable with them being so close and put down the law a no getting involved between the clubs kids/members.
So Zane pushes Addie away and it breaks her heart. She ends up packing up and leaving for college.
Years later Addie's back and gotten a teaching position at their old high school. And comes face to face with Zane.
With their history and a threat from another club. Can they get ignore each other, let alone get along?
Will they make it through the threat and living through club lockdown?

So first I want to say that I'm huge fan of Mrs. Forgy's. I love the original Devil's Dust series. It's one of my go to re-read series. So I was super excited when I heard the next generation of Devil's Dust was getting their own series. I will admit that I'm usually weary when author's give kids of other series their own series. But I was still excited about this series and this book. But that's about where my excitement ends and I'll explain why in a bit.

Let's start with Zane. He's is Shadow and Dani's son and of course Bull's grandson. I want to start by saying I liked Zane. He's a young man who has his own demons, his maybe a bit darker than his father's. You could tell how much his family and club meant to him. Even with all his demons, he had a sweet, kind, tender side. But I will say this, he is NO Shadow. No one will ever compare to Shadow.

Oh Addie.... What can I say about Addie?..... Well if your not sure who Addie is or can't remember who she is. Well she's Jessica's, aka Doc's daughter and Bobby's step-daughter..... And I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but Addie was just a Big Dissappointment to me in this book. Look don't get me wrong I loved Addie in Bobby and Doc's book. But in this book she is supposedly supposed to be an almost 30 year old woman. But I found her to be a bit childish in the way she acted and the way people treated her. People almost treated her like she was a teenager instead of an adult. So I felt like that made me forget she was actually an adult instead of a teenager.

As mentioned above I had been really excited about this series. But I felt like that the storyline was choppy and at times I felt like I was reading two different stories. I really wanted to enjoy the characters, but I felt like Zane was the more mature character and that Addie felt like a teenager. I also kind of felt like everyone expected the club kids to get together. I'm not always not for that. I never really felt a connection between Zane and Addie, at times it felt forced to me.

I will say I did enjoy the appearences from the original devils. I also really enjoyed Saint, Rad, Piper, and Deliaha.

I'm giving this book 3.5 Stars out of 5!!!!

***I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion***

I’ve read The Devil’s Dust series and loved it. I absolutely loved it so my expectations was high when I started this read. I wanted to feel all them emotions again, I wanted to fall in love with the MC genre again. This author succeeded.. this was a fantastic read that I inhaled in one sitting.

In this story we get to read about the grown up brats. This story is based on Zane and Addie. A bond that started when they were little just kept getting stronger.

If you’ve read the Devil’s Dust series, or even if you haven’t this is a brilliant read. I’ll say no more....you just need to read it for yourself. I need more of these characters. So so good.

Oh. My. God. I never thought that there would be a couple that could top Shadow and Dani, but Zane and Addie have done it. I mean he is Shadow’s son so is it really that surprising? I have struggled for days after to write this review and it is because The Blood That Drives Us blew me away.

The darkness, the angst, the way that Zane and Addie are drawn together; the sexual tension between them, the forbidden, just all of it is the perfect combination and has me already wanting and needing more. I refuse to spoil this book in any way, if you have read the original Devil’s Dust MC series then you know then you know who both of their parents are, their stories and how the past shapes the future of the MC. Zane may have a darkness to him, but Addie is his sunshine, without her the darkness would consume him.

I am already planning to read the original series all over again, I have missed those characters and now with The Devil’s Dust MC Legacy series I want to revisit some of my favorite books. While you could possibly read this without reading the original series I will beg you to read where it all started, I think it makes this book so much more if you have.

Zane Kingsmen gives us a small glimpse into how he came to be. Addie Addington let’s us into the family side of the MC. Once I got the first introduction to our main characters, I knew that that I was interested to see what this author had in store for the reader.

We get the point of view that I’ve never seen before. We think of children as being innocent but when you live in the world of an MC it seems they grow up a lot faster. Zane’s reality is so different from previous books that I’ve read. That’s a good thing because then you would probably think to yourself, “oh, I’ve read this before” or “it’s so similar to…” Then you’d probably give up and stop reading. Committing that dreaded DNF. That’s not possible here.

Make no mistake; this is an emotional story to read. That was just my impression after reading the Prologue. My impression was right on point. There were ups and downs, twists and turns, all through the book. I knew that I eventually I would get to the end so it wasn’t a story that I could put down. I had to find out what was coming around the next corner. In a way the ending was a surprise but it also got me excited to see where our author is going to take this series – I can’t wait.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

⭐⭐⭐1/2

It's been a while since I've read an MC romance and this book just reminded me how much I love them!

Zane and Addie were both raised in the Devil's Dust MC and know that they cannot be together due to club rules. However, that doesn't stop them craving each other for years and eventually giving it to their desires. Their tension filled relationship plus all of the outside forces working against them and their club made for a great read.

The story was quite fast paced and some aspects did seem a little rushed. There were also a lot of grammatical errors (I'm not sure if it was just the ebook I had) which started to get a bit annoying and mess with the flow. But overall I really enjoyed the storyline and all of the characters. I will definitely be checking out more in the series.

I HATE TO SEE TO A BELOVED CHARACTER DIE, OR AT LEAST NOT BE AROUND... HOWEVER, THE WRITING IS SO GOOD, I'M DOWN WITH THE DEVIL'S DUST MC'S NEWEST LEGACY MEMBERS & WOULD CONFIRM THE FUTURE REIGN OF THEIR NEW LEADERSHIP...if that was a real thing.

The Devils Dust is the first MC audiobook I listened to years ago and I completely fell in love with the characters! It was dark and gritty with some major WTF moments and I am beyond thrilled that MN Forgy decided to continue on with the Devils Dust's kids. Shadow was always my favorite so of course I was eager to read about Zane, I love that he battled the same demons his dad did even at such a young age. Addie is Doc’s daughter (Bobby’s step daughter) and definitely more straight laced than all the other DD ‘brats’. The six year age gap (Addie is older) between them seemed non-existent for the entire book, she was extremely naïve about things… I pretty much just pictured her the same age as Zane so I wouldn’t get annoyed by her. I will say I am chomping at the bit for the next book, I need to know what happens with Bull!!

I love MC themed books as you can tell if you look up the MC shelf of over 300 books. This genre has an expectation and sweet, immature, thirty year old MC Princesses are not it. The heroine is lacking in spine and grit. She tries. Fails and requires rescue.

The hero is six years younger and attempts the pretense of being with someone else to make the MC Princess leave town. How very noble. Only he STAYS in a relationship with this character for years. Why? To appear NORMAL. Out of all the genres where a character can be dark, killer it is the MC one. Why does he have to do this? Because his dad, Shadow, who had his own book previously and was dark, womanizing etc told him to "fit in".

Zane does a good job at managing this psychotic side of himself but throughout the book I don't know why and of course the heroine is the antidote. He doesn't realize that having the same woman in his bed, who lets herself in his room on the daily is classed as a girlfriend when doing so for over two years. Go figure.

The heroine acts very young. Cannot cope with the other woman and her feelings of insecurity with her body and who she is. Why? Because she is curvy? Dumb?pimply? I don't know why the heroine feels this way about herself to the point of lowering herself to a cat fight with her nemesis...

Lost me. She should be confident, own her place in the club and be mature. That's what is implied with "heroine". They can be soft, demure, shy and dim witted but this one, Addie was supposed to be better.🙃

Finally we get the kids of Devils Dust MC’s stories! The Devils Dust MC series is one of my favourite series so to say I was excited would be a massive understatement.

We start off with Zane and Addies story. Zane is the son of Shadow and Dani and he knows from a young age there’s a darkness inside him. The only thing that quiets the chaos in his head is when he’s near Addie.
Addie is Bobby and Docs daughter and she is the complete opposite of Zane. Where he’s dark, she’s innocence and light. They shouldn’t feel the connection they feel, they know that the club won’t let them be together but they share a bond that is unbreakable.

The Blood That Drives Us gets The Devils Dust MC Legacy series off to a fantastic start. The sexual tension between Zane and Addie is unreal, Zane is everything I like my bikers to be (an asshole with a heart) and Addie is a sweetheart. There’s danger, threats are made against the club and we see the Devils Dust men doing what they do best...protecting their family.

I loved this book. Zane is everything! I have read every book by this author and this is MN Forgy at her best. I couldn’t put this book down and can’t wait for more from the brats (and their parents!).

I have read other M.N. Forgy books and liked them. This one was a miss for me. Zane and Addie have had a connection since they were little. After an incident that left both of them grazed by a bullet on their arms they felt fate was on their side. Their parents, however, have forbidden any of the kids from having a relationship. Fast forward many years later and we find Addie and Zane at a crossroads. He decides that he is not going to let her get away from him and she is clueless as to how he truly feels about her. There were obstacles and misunderstandings that had to be overcome. The plot was okay, the execution was lacking. There were timeframe issues and the fact that her mother was all over the place didn't help this book at all. I couldn't quite comprehend why some of the side characters were as involved in this book as they were. Her mother's new surprise didn't make sense and the timeframe was way off for me on that. Addie's age alone made that seem an impossibility unless one was going for a Guinness World Record. I also didn't understand why Bull made a proclamation and then no one followed through on it for a few weeks. I guess we shall see what happens next.

Wow is all I have to say about this book! It is like the dark Romeo and Juliet of the Devils Dust MC series. Zane is just like his father, dark, broody and sexy. He have been fighting against his feelings for years and does not think that a HEA is in the cards for him. Addie grew up in the club and is full of sunshine with a dark lining. If you are looking for a dark and steamy roll coaster of a love story then this is the book for you! There is a depth to this story that will surprise you and delicious angst that will keep you turning the page. M.N Forgy has out done her self this time. The imagery in the book is amazing and there were times I felt like I was there with the characters. This is a book that makes you want to re read it after the last page, the characters and plot will stay with you. I will warn you that this is not a rainbow and fairy tale love story it is a dark and twisty tale of love and lust. But if you are looking to delve down the rabbit hole that is Zane and Addie you are for an amazing ride! I cant wait for the next book in the series!

Haunting.
I admit I had not read The Devil’s Dust Series, a problem I will quickly remedy, but I had no trouble enjoying and devouring this read. This is the story of the club brats now all grown up, particularly 1 pair.
Raw, gritty and hauntingly passionate, I was swept in Zane’s and Addie’s unique story. Theirs is a slow burn forbidden romance spanning over years.
A friendship began as young children after a tragic event built a bond between them. Their characters were well developed and I enjoyed how their unconventional bond was entwined by the trust and understanding they felt for one another.
Fast paced and exciting, I couldn’t read fast enough to discover what secrets they uncovered and where the story took them!
I cannot wait to see what happens next!

I would say I'm a fan of M.N.Forgot books. However this book left me a little disappointed.

This book focuses on Addie and Zane's story. Zane has a darkness and Addis is the sweetness and light!! Both of them are the second generation of The Devil's Dust M.C.

However I felt the story was not as convicting, Zane was just not dark enough and Addie is not that convicting also. The "spark" between them that has been there since childhood did not feel intense and sometimes it did not feel like a spark at all.

Maybe I have been spoiled by the 1st generations of The Devil Dust books that I set my expectations a little high!! 😀

I will still read the next book in the series just in case this is just a small blip😀

wow, just when I thought the Devil's Dust was done, I was given this amazing story by an even more amazing author. The words she put down was wow. Once again the characters are wonderful, everything about them was hott, the good, the bad and the ugly. It was one story that you can't help but keep turning the pages over and over again. A romantic page turner of a story that keeps you on the edge that's for sure. Each page had something new that had you coming back for more. It had its own brand of twisted that hooked you right in. This story does pull at your emotions but towards the end every tear and laugh is so worth it. MUST READ!!!!

“She’s everything I’m not. A light that shines in my darkest corners revealing my inner beast...”

It has been a long time since I read the Devils Dust series and I was afraid that I might be lost if I didn’t remember much any more, but that was not the case at all. A complete story, complete entertainment that kept me interested from start to finish.
