Can a lethal assassin have a soft side?

After a botched operation in Geneva, Javin Pierce and his partner are offered the chance to return to the CIS if they eliminate two senior ISIS leaders hiding in Iraq. Dispatched to the lawless lands, Javin and Claudia start to gather intel, and soon find themselves immersed in a sinister corruption scheme that reaches top-level Iraqi officials. Javin isn’t about to walk away.

Now, being hunted down by ruthless ISIS fighters, the team fights to survive and navigate crooked, ever-shifting allegiances. As Javin and Claudia forge bonds with unlikely local allies from a refugee camp, Javin gets more than he bargained for. The evidence leads to Europe and an elaborate retrieval that, if successful, will tear down the entire corruption scheme and bring desperate relief to the camp workers.

Javin now realizes his ticket back into the agency might be his most dangerous but satisfying mission yet. How will Javin clean up the targets, get back into the agency, and execute the seemingly impossible retrieval, all without leaving a trace?

Retrieval is a heart-pounding ride from start to finish in the tradition of Robert Ludlum, Vince Flynn, and Ian Fleming. The newest, highly-anticipated installment in the Javin Pierce series is a stay-up-all-night spy thriller all wrapped up and ready to explode. You won’t be able to put it down.

Javin Pierce and his CIS partner Claudia Aquarone are once more in life threatening situations. First they are sent to Iraq to try to track down some escaped ISIS leaders then they’re another action filled thrill ride that culminates in a trip to Switzerland. Ethan Jones has never failed to deliver a story that has all the tension of the real world settings he puts his characters into as well as action scenes to rival any author. This time there’s even a hint of romance along the way. Not wanting to spoil the story for those who’ve not read it yet I’ll say no more. This is another top class action spy thriller from my absolutely favourite author of the genre. They simply don’t get better than this!

Retrieval takes the reader into the world of
espionage, devious planning, courage, fear,
betrayal and adventure involving the Canadian
Intelligence Secret Service agents, Javin Pierce
and Claudia Aquarone.
This is book # 4 in the Javin Pierce Spy Thriller
series. It can be read as a stand alone.
The characters are well defined, well fleshed,
full of intrigue and ready for danger at every
turn.
The action is non-stop, electrifying, moving at
an invigorating pace with plenty of twists and turns.
A Highly Recommended Read!!

Two Canadian agents working with the Iraqi government and two local police one from the Sunni and one from the Shia faction to resolve a situation. Will the corrupt officials, the insurgents, and the animosity between the Sunni and Shia factions make it impossible to complete thru mission? An enjoyable, action-packed read.

This is a continuation of Counterblow. Javin and Claudia have been advised that they need to complete this current task of locating and killinng or Capturing 2 ISIS leaders to be considered for reinstatement into ISIS. There is a new minister of Safety and they have a new boss because of actuals they took in the last book.

They both go to Iraq and are in a refugee camp to interview people to try and gather information in order to complete their task. While there, they are introduced to Liberty who is in charge of running the camp. Liberty will play a larger role in future stories. They were able to talk to one person that was suspected of aiding ISIS. There conversation with this individual raised alarms to 2 corrupt members of the Iraqi government. It also resulted in the abduction of this individual by the corrupt officials.

While following up on the abduction, the camp was attacked while Javin was there Claudia was with an Iranian member of their team when information was obtained where the ISIS Leaders might be found. Javin also had been given a note which provided this same location. Once the team arrived at the site, a major skirmish occurred and 1 of the Leaders was killed with the other one's location unknown.

Based on information that the team obtained from this location, Javin and Claudia were sent to Geneva to check out activity on a bank account. Once they got to Geneva and captured the banker involved, they were attacked by the Russians.

If you want to find out why the Russians were involved and whether the other ISIS Leader was located then you need to read this book.

Retrieval is the fourth book in the Javin Pierce Spy Thriller series and another awesome, fast paced, action packed suspenseful story with well developed characters, an intense storyline and some surprising twists.

Javin and Claudia are on their next mission working on being reinstated as Correctors for the CIS. Their current teammates Tom - CIA, Issawi - Iraq Federal Police and Al-Razi - Sunni Militia while not always agreeable are working towards the same goal That takes them from Iraq to Kurdistan and then to Geneva Switzerland.

As the plot thickens, Javin gets caught in a predicament that requires some assistance again from Mila (Special Operative for the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service) and diffuse a possible lethal situation but acquire new allies instead.

I loved seeing the sweet side of Javin when he meats Liberty and then treating a group of kids in the camp to figs and dates.

While I haven't read all of Ethan Jones books I consider Mr Jones a wonderful
storyteller and enjoy the adventures he takes me on. While it’s not necessary, I recommend reading the previous books to this series - The Corrector, The Betrayal and Closure so you can get a more complete picture of the path that Javin and Claudia have been on.
A definite must read

Thank you Mr Jones for another intriguing and exciting book and looking forward to the next thrilling adventure.

I received an ARC from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion. This is the fourth book in the Javin Pierce series and I think they keep getting better and better. My favorite part about Mr Jones' writing is the fact that he can create an exciting spy/thriller novel without resorting to the profanity and gratuitous sex scenes that run rampant among today's mystery/thriller authors.. Of course, whenever a reviewer complains about it, someone comes back with the comment that the profanity/sex has to be there in order to portray the way military/law enforcement/private investigators talk. Otherwise, it won't be realistic. Mr Jones proves that to be total malarky. All of his characters are fully fleshed-out, three dimensional people who feel true to life. Their dialogue flows naturally and doesn't feel stilted at all. There is plenty of action/adventure/suspense and even a touch of romance to finish off a well-rounded novel. I can't wait to get my hands on book #5. Another good thing is, you don't have to read them in order to enjoy them. You do get a better feel for history between characters and such if you do, but it's not mandatory. By all means, check them out.

Another clear winner from Ethan Jones. In "Retrieval", Javin & Claudia are together trying to correct things by getting ISIS leaders. Needless to say, they're in the Mideast but wind up in Switzlerland! Part of their mission requires working with Iraq military & police -- an interesting combination compounded as one doesn't really trust the other. Could there be a traitor among those Javin & Claudia are required to work with? Are details of their operations being leaked? Are civilian government officials involved? I don't want to spoil it for you ... so ... read the book; you won't regret it!

Retrieval is the fourth book in the Javin Pierce Spy Thriller series. This can be read as a standalone. Though this is such a good series that IMO you should read them all. There is violence. Javin and Carrie set out on a mission with partners in Iraq. But as usual, all persons involved are not as they seem. Can they successfully carry out their mission with the betrayal surrounding them? Even though their mission in Iraq is over, the story does end on a cliffhanger which sets the stage for the next book. I can't wait!!

Retrieval. Ethan Jones

Javin Pierce and his partner Claudia work for CIS. Canada's clandestine service similar to the CIA. They are called Correctors. I like to call them fixers. They are gathered information on corrupt Iraqi officials in Mosul, and remnants of Isis terrorist still there and operational. The primary problem is corrupt officials with ties to Isis. This is a nonstop action filled thriller. Enjoyed immensely!

Javin and Claudia try to get back into the good graces of the CIS by accepting a mission in Iraq. As usual things get turned sideways early on and the operation turns into an international mess. Great cast of characters, loads of action and an awesome story line keeps you riveted to the very end. A real page turner.

is quite a weird thing. When Iraq and Iran comes to mind, the first thing that comes to mind is religious war, be it against the West or amongst the two major factions.
Yet one seldom thinks these selfsame "warriors" and "supporters" are in reality often quite involved with graft in such a manner to be truly on an epic scale.
Yet this is what Pierce and Claudia encounters when sent to Iraq to find two ISIS figure heads.
The next unexpected happening is for Pierce to meet up with a very attractive woman called Liberty.
Then there are the unpleasant discoveries, treachery, mayhem and death as if an everyday occurance enough to keep you wide awake most of the time.
True even for the reader and not meant for the weak of mind or heart.
Enjoy

This book is as exciting, very fast paced and full of twists and turns as the rest of his books that I've read. Javin Pierce has nine lives, as has his partner, and the star subjects of Ethan Jones' other series. They are unputdownable - because once you're into the story you can't miss anything!

Retrieval
Javin Pierce #4
By Ethan Jones

Someone is out to stop Javin and the price on his head is pure hate getting satisfaction - the fury of a woman scorned has nothing on an ISIS jihadist out to bring him down! Javin and Claudia are on a mission that will allow them to return to CIS after their previous mission in Geneva went wrong.

But finding the intel they need goes wrong when their possible source goes missing from the refugee camp and their safe house is attacked. When the local officials start the clock ticking on when they have to be out of the country any source of information becomes an option.

Seeking aid from the few people that they can trust Javin and Claudia find themselves heading back to the very country that brought them to their current situation. Geneva neutral in name but profiting from the various sources using them to hide their ill-gotten gains.

This is a high action movie for those who would rather read than see it their action. Ethan Jones manages to keep his books fresh and not repetitive so one never feels as "I've read this before." Not happening here. And you'll be kept in suspense from the first line until you finish and then there is the anticipation of what can possibly happen next. Don't miss out on this latest thrilling mission that only a corrector can find themselves in.

Have just finished Retrieval, good pace strong characters, Javin and Claudia are in Iraq this time posing as journalist at a refugee camp hoping to get the whereabouts of 2 ISIS terrorist which they need to eliminate, and that should give them the brownie points needed to get back into CIS good books and the job that they normally do and that 's of a corrector, which basically cleans up op's that go wrong. As usual, still a lot of corruption in Iraq and money is being laundered by the higher hierarchy and the refugee's go hungry, so Javin and Claudia must follow the accounts find who they belong to and that takes them to Switzerland, where they have certainly made themselves heard. Good pace but I felt this novel was a bit slower than the previous ones. The next Javin novel takes place in China, which will make a welcome change from the Middle East.
