The Nanny Clause by Karen Rose Smith is a 2019 Harlequin Special Edition publication.

A lovely story about how three adorable little girls and a pregnant cat brought two people together to create one big happy family-‘Fur-ever’!!

When Pippa, Penny, and Paris find a pregnant cat, their father, Dan Sutton, takes her to an animal shelter. There, they meet a shelter volunteer named Emma Alvarez. As a single father with a demanding career, Dan doesn’t think he can take on the responsibility of a caring for a pet, especially one expecting a litter of kittens.

However, he and his girls do check in with Emma to see how “Fiesta” the cat is doing. As Dan and the “Three P’s’” get to know Emma, Dan sees how well the girls respond to her. So, he offers her a job as their Nanny and she accepts the position. There are a few misunderstandings, and the girls are still coping with the way their mother left them, but things are working out very well…

Well, except that Dan and Emma are finding it hard not to give in to their mutual attraction to one another!

The cover of this book caught my attention right away! A basket full of kittens!! I love books that spotlight rescue pets in the story, so I had a good feeling about this book right from the start. The children featured in the story are also a big part of why the book is so sweet- and aren’t their names adorable??

But with all the pets, kids, and family dramas, it might sound like Emma and Dan would have a hard time finding sexy time, but the chemistry between them is just right and their feelings and sensuality develop in a healthy way.

The story is quite charming, and I was really enjoying the progress the family was making when – uh oh! A surprise twist came along- and it was a doozy!!

Can Emma and Dan accept these new developments and put old hurts behind them, or will circumstances force them to take a different path?

This is a gentle, heartwarming story, the kind that is good for your mind and heart, reminding us that in an imperfect world, love can provide the strength to forgive, and can find a way to heal broken hearts, bringing people together who are a purr-fect fit.

And….

There are cats!!

Enough said!

Emma Alvarez is looking to change her life, she moved for a man but soon learned what a truly horrible mistake that was. She volunteers at an animal shelter but needs to find a paying job or she'll have to move back home and listen to her father day I told you so. Daniel Sutton is a single father of three who is trying to be mother and father but worries that he's not doing enough. His wife left him and married his law partner leaving him with three girls to raise. He's in the process of looking for a nanny for his girls but can't seem to find the perfect fit. When the girls come across a pregnant cat Daniel decides that they should take her to the local shelter, he hopes they'll know what they should do. When Emma and Daniel meet at the shelter their is an immediate attraction but neither makes a move. Emma takes the cat and tells Daniel he should bring the girls back to visit the cat. During one of the visits Daniel learns that Emma needs a job and jumps at the chance to hire her, she seems to have a connection with his girls. Follow along as the two work to fight the attraction they each feel for one another and keep things all business. It doesn't help when the girls mother shows up deciding that she wants to be a part of their lives. Emma isn't one to stand in the way of a mother spending time with their mother. Will Emma and Daniel let go and act on their feelings or will his ex get in the way? This was a lovely romance that makes you want the two, to leave their worries behind and act on their true feelings.

I received an ARC of this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Daniel Sutton is a single father with three daughters. His girls mean the world to him, but he’s struggling. What he needs is a Nanny to be with the three Ps during the summer. When he meets Emma Alvarez at the animal shelter where she volunteers, he’s impressed with how caring she is. He offers her the Nanny position. I loved watching Daniel and Emma form a bond. I was touched by how quickly they grew together. I was glad to see Emma find the happiness she deserves. When Daniel and the girls decide to foster a pregnant cat until she has her kittens, it made me happy how much everyone cared. I really wanted them to become a forever family. Karen Rose Smith has written a story that made me feel good. I cared for all the characters. They made me feel happy that there are good, caring people around. The dialogue was sweet and loving and the setting provided the perfect background. The Nanny Clause celebrated family as well as the importance of pets in our life. I’m looking forward to more stories in the Furever Yours series.

The Nanny Clause is a wonderful, easy and delightful story. Daniel Sutton has never really gotten over the divorce from his wife, Lydia even though it has been two years. Daniel has sole custody of his three daughters Paris, Penny and Pippa. With a busy law office to run and three girls life has not been easy and yet he always wants to put his girls first no matter what.

When he meets Emma Alvarez a volunteer at the animal shelter, Forever Paws things will never be the same. Can a pregnant cat, three children and a loving dad ever be able to enjoy love again? Both have been hurt and not sure they can go thru the pain again.

As usual, Ms Smith intertwines her love of animals and connecting these five people to make one perfect and loving nanny.

Three kids. One pregnant cat. And one perfect nanny…
When Daniel Sutton’s daughters rescue an abandoned calico, the hardworking attorney doesn’t expect to be sharing his home with a litter of newborns! And the adorable kittens aren’t his only houseguests. Animal shelter volunteer Emma Alvarez is transforming the lives of Daniel and his three girls. The first-time nanny is a natural with kids and pets. Will that extend to a single father ready to trust in love again?
This is Emma Alvarez and Daniel Sutton's story.
Emma Alvarez loved volunteering at Furever Paws Animal Rescue. The problem was...she needed a real job that paid. She’d made an impulsive decision and recently relocated to North Carolina from Pennsylvania—a wrong decision. She’d come because of a man. But she’d stuck around because she liked Spring Forest and the people here. The other reason she’d stayed had to do with her pride.
Emma smiled as she passed a blue-gray wall that was decorated with framed paintings from local artists. Their subjects were all breeds of cats and dogs. She headed to the front desk for a list of the latest foster parents who were available. After removing a colorful scrunchie from her shoulder-length curly dark brown hair, she refastened her ponytail. The North Carolina humidity curled her hair until she couldn’t control it. Around the shelter and working with animals, keeping it tied back seemed to be the best style.
Glancing at the desk in the front lobby, Emma noticed the chair was vacant. Possibly the volunteer had gone into the gift shop off the lobby to help a patron.
Daniel Sutton studied the stack of file folders on his desk. Since he was the only lawyer in Spring Forest now, he hardly had time to schedule all of his appointments, let alone interview prospective nannies.
If only his wife and his law partner hadn’t run off together. It had been over two years and that amount of time certainly should have settled any regrets he had.
Raina Clark, his secretary, knocked softly on his office door and then opened it. Raina kept his schedule on track. A widow in her late thirties, she was a good role model for his girls. She was always pleasant even when he added to her workload.
I highly recommend reading.
The Nanny Clause by Karen Rose Smith is a wonderful well written 5 star book.

I loved everything about this book.
This captivating story was so heartwarming that once I started it I didn't want to put it down. It's about a single father wanting to give his three daughters love and stability after their mother left. Daniel to me is a very realistic character. When his daughters find an adorable cat that needs rescuing he has no idea how his life is about to change. Emma is definitely a character that I immediately feel drawn to because of her love of animals. She works as a volunteer at the local animal shelter and feels drawn to Daniel's daughters when she meets them. Emma encourages Daniel to let his daughters visit the shelter and learn about animals and the care of them. With school being out for the summer he needs a nanny and talks Emma into helping him out. Emma has never been a nanny and is very unsure of her exact role in the household. Daniel leads her to believe that basically she will be driving the girls to summer activities and providing light meals and snacks, but as we all know life doesn't always go as planned. Of course, throw in the fact a petless household has a new pet, Fiesta, that is a pregnant cat that will soon be bringing her babies into the world and you know things are not going to go as planned.
I love how a friendship between Daniel and Emma is conveyed in a genuine way, but the blurred lines between employer and employee can cause problems at times. I love how the author addresses the homeless cat in this story and brings out the importance of it's rescue. This story has elements of romantic tension, faith, trust, humor, stress, and love. This is a story I would recommend to anyone who loves a good, clean story.
**I received this book from the author via the publisher. I was not required to wrie a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Are you an animal person? No, you say. Well, you just might be surprised when you are put in the right situation and when you have three lively daughters. As a parent, we try to do the best for out kids, right. Daniel has his hands full with his three girls, now known as the three P’s. Such a cute nickname and much quicker than calling them all by name. Emma learned the hard way that things aren’t always what we think they are. Luckily, she is stubborn and determined and has fallen in love with her new town. This is about what happens when Daniel and Emma learn to trust again and to deal what life throws at them. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I received an ARC of this book, but my opinion is my own.

Three girls Paris, Penny and Pippa. A pregnant cat Fiesta. And one irresistible single dad… When Daniel Sutton’s daughters rescue an abandoned cat, the hard-working (attorney) doesn’t expect to be sharing his home with a litter of newborns! The adorable kittens aren’t his only houseguests. (Animal shelter volunteer) Emma Alvarez is transforming the lives of Daniel and his three girls! She’s more of a mom than Lydia, who abandoned them for life in the big city with her new beau, Daniel’s former law partner. Now she’s back after 2 years with only sporadic emails and cards trying to insinuate herself into Daniel’s life again. He will do anything for his daughters…maybe even take her back after Emma has already professed her love for him?

I am not a huge animal lover, but something about babies and their mommies will get you everytime. And when I see a stray animal, I want to help in some way. Add to the mix a hunky divorced lawyer, and his three daughters, a volunteer at Furever Paws animal shelter, a pregnant momma cat, you get a wonderful story that just gets better and better with each page.

The writing techniques, concepts, and styles of this story are expectional phenomenal. It deals with remarkable family values thru teach kids responsibilities about themselves, their bodies, and redemption.

Emma Alvarez is truly an expeditionary young lady who did an excellent job helping Daniel Sutton with his daughter's, Paris, Pippa, and Penny (The 3 P's) emotionally understand and cope with desperately mangering their young lives better after they were abandoned by their own mother, Lydia. She also taught them the value of taking care of a pregnant cat, Fiesta, and her newborn kittens, Nacho, Burrito, Guacamole, etc.

In addition, Emma unconditionally taught Daniel how to forgive his friend and law partner, Allen, and understand why he cheated on him with his now ex-wife, Lydia. Emma and Daniel relationship is built on mutual friendship, love, and respect for their families.
