A war fueled by hatred. A girl pushed in the middle.

Humans and Fae are at war—a war Brinna Rogers wants nothing to do with. She is content living with her parents, going to school, and pretending the streets aren’t filled with fighting. Until she has no choice but to face it.
On her way home one damp night, danger strikes, thrusting Brinna down a rabbit hole of change. A binding spell snaps, and she finds out she has been lied to her whole life. She isn’t a human like she thought. Instead, she is Fae, and not just any. Her name is Brinna Blackshadow and she is a Fae Princess.
Within moments, she is shoved over the edge of reality, plummeting straight down until she crashes head first into the war. In order to break free, she must strike a deal with the leader of the human army—one that makes guilt rise to the forefront.

Because when you strike a deal with the devil, you might pay with more than your soul.

Fae Princess is the first installment of The Blackshadow Chronicles. It will appeal to fans of Sarah J Maas’s ACOTAR series and Julie Kagawa’s The Iron Fey Series.

Cassandra Fear is a small-town girl with big town dreams. Growing up in Ohio, she passed her days lost in worlds full of Fae, vampires, shifters, love, action, and adventure. Sticking to her roots, she still lives in Ohio with an elf—her son—a fairy—her daughter—and a bunch of shifters in the forms of cats and dogs. Everyone pretends they are human or simply animals, but she knows better. Today, when she is not painting amazing designs on Photoshop, she creates the worlds she’s loved all her life. Values, love, friendships, and adventures pour from her fingers for you to immerse yourself in. Cassandra loves chocolate, hates driving in the snow, thinks her best friend is a little too snarky because she is a hybrid shifter/vamp, and that her kids are undercover beings from Faerie; She just plays along with the whole human thing for the sake of keeping the peace. She is nice like that.

Ok. This book was written very well. It's not my usual genre. Fae people. But I did enjoy it. It doesn't exactly end in a cliffhanger but it leaves you with questions. To my understanding it is the 1st in a series, although it doesn't show how many. Brinna was a strong female character. Logan was swoon worthy. 3.5/5 stars.

Fae Princess
By Cassandra Fear
✴✴✴✴✴

Brinna Roger's wants nothing to do with the war. It's a war between the humans and the fae. She is happy just living with her parents, going to school, and pretending that the streets are not filled with people fighting, but that has just changed.
On her way home from the library one night, danger strikes and as she puts out her hands magic happens. How can a human have magic? A binding spell snaps, and she finds out she's finds out her whole life has been a lie. She is not human. She is Fae, and not just any. She is Brinna Blackshadow and she is a fae princess. In an instant everything has changed and she is taken to the safe fae compound where she meets her parents. Now nothing will ever be the same. Now she is a part of the war and she must grow up and play her part. The war is dangerous and she ends up at the camps. In order to break free, she strikes a deal with the leader of the human army and it's a deal that makes guilt rise to the forefront. Now nothing will ever be the same. How could it? Because when you strike a deal with the devil, you just might have to pay with more then your soul.

Cassandra Fear is a an incredibly talented author. She brings the fae to life in all of their magical glory. You never know what's going to happen next and this book will keep you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading another book from Ms. Fear in the future.

There aren't enough words to express how much I loved this story! And, I believe teens, YA, and adults alike will all enjoy this book.

Brinna is an absolutely incredible character who is thrown into a world she has only ever known about from the outside. Now, finding out that she is actually a part of the Fae, her life is turned completely upside down. The strength she possesses throughout the story is something I admire so much. No matter what is thrown at her, she doesn't give up.

The way the author has used inspiration from real life historic events and woven it into this epic fantasy story has amazed me. And, the characters (both good and bad) are all very strong, and no matter how minuscule their part in the book is, they each are such a vital part of the story line. As with Cassandra's other books, the writing is fantastic, and she has done another awesome job of painting a picture of the world in which she has created.

I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel to Fae Princess. Hopefully it won't be too long of a wait. I NEED to know what is going to happen next!

Such a great start to this series. I love the strength of Brinna's character. She is a fierce and determined female which makes her such a great leading character. Her family and friends of Indigo, Finch, and Logan all help and trust her with dealing with Patella and eventually Kyrian. Looking forward to book 2.

I enjoyed reading this fantasy romance between a strong Heroine and a Hero. Both Logan and Brin were great characters that kept me reading. They both lifted each other up and had each others back. I love their romance and how sweet they were to each other. I will definitely be waiting for the next installment.

Brinna finds out she is not human. In fact, she finds out she is fae, has powers, her parents are not really her parents, and she is royalty! Surprisingly she embraces her new life, and delves deep into herself to find a natural leadership quality and a determination to help her new people become free of oppression and imprisonment. Along the way she meets Logan, the one who helps her learn about her fae powers. I won't give away the plot points, but this story had lots of adventure, soul-searching, and most of all a search for one's identity. Excellent book, can't wait to read the next one!

Absolutely magical. Loved every single page of it.

Our main heroine is one tough girl,  who doesn't back down when things get rough. She fights for what is right. No matter what it in takes. She is ready to give her life for what is worth : peace, people she loves and cares about.

All her life she thought she was a normal person,  until one day when everything changed and her whole life has been turned upside down. The parents she knew...well they weren't exactly who she thought they were, and after long strives of makes ng her understand why some thing needed to be done in the past, she learned to put past her and forgive.

Being taken to the Fae compound, she also finds out that besides being a fae she is also a princess. Here, she meets a very handsome and reliable young man, with whom she inevitably falls in love. Well,  that's where destiny sticks it's tail!  There she learns about the war between humans and Fae alike, and pits her mind into stopping it. But as we all know, the road to bringing peace is a long and hard one, paved with a lot of adventures and loss.

God, this book doesn't lack anything. It's like the salt and pepper to the fantasy world. This book has taken me a little, back to a book written by Richelle Mead which I really loved.  This is by far one of the best fantasy books by Cassie ( no offense, my dear, but I loved this one a lot).

This book was amazing. It is very well written, strong characters and a epic story line! This author has a way of sucking you into her stories. And she shows by the depth of her books that she loves telling stories. There is just something about her books that shows readers she loves what she does. And this factor makes for an amazing book! This book is about Brinna, she is a young girl who just wants to be a girl. Live her life like kids do. But that won't happen. As things start to happen she finds out she was lied to. She is not human, she is a Fae. The only way to be free is to help the human army. Is this the best thing to do? Or will this end up being the biggest mistake she will ever make? This book sucked me right in and would not let me go. It was so good, and I highly recommend this book and this author!!!!!

I was entranced by this book from page 1! Brinna is such a great character to watch evolve. You get to see her mature over the course of the story. And Logan is everything I love in a male leading character. I’ve yet to read a book by Cassandra Fear that I haven’t loved!!! You won’t regret adding this to your library!

Brinna graduated high school planned on attending college and loved her family very much. In her world, the Fae were being destroyed. One night Brinna was attacked and discovered she had magic while defending herself. When she confronted her parents, they admitted she was Fae Royalty they had hid and risen as their own. Her powers became unbound and now it was time to return to the Fae compound to face her destiny. She enters a whole new world where her looks even changed. She is the Fae princess! She meets Logan another royal and they take to one another right away. Along the way, the King gets taken trying to rescue Brinna’s human parents.
Brinna and Logan defy the queens orders and sets out to rescue the king. They achieve their goal only after striking a deal with Patella, the one who have been taking and killing Fae. The deal struck was they bring five fae to him a month for only testing, after two weeks they are released. In exchange they all walk away free. What they discover is much worse…they are stealing fae magic to use..rendering the fae humans. Brinna takes a chance to go in undercover and cast a spell on Patella..she succeeds. She goes back home and marries Logan but Patella shows up to start a war. They capture Patella, but as Brinna discovers this is only the beginning! A much bigger deadlier foe waits in the wings to start the real war. This book ends in a cliffhanger! I received this book for free and am voluntarily leaving a review. The book starts out action packed from the beginning and does not stop there. I plan on reading the next book!

Fans of conspiracy, magic and, above all, fae, are sure to enjoy this fast paced read.

Brinna lives in a world at war, humans against fae. While physical battle is constantly brewing, the human leaders capture fae and throw them into camps, where Brinna knows they suffer horrible deaths. In either case, she decides it's best to ignore it as best she can and carry out her simple life of work and attending college. On the way home one evening, she's attacked and breaks a binding spell..something humans can't do. Before she knows it, a secret her parents have been keeping from her comes to light—she's the fae princess and has been living in hiding. When her foster parents are now forced to return her to her rightful, royal parents, Brinna learns so much more about the war and can't stay empathetic anymore.

The author does a wonderful job at mixing real life with that of fae and conspiracy. At first, Brinna and her life come across extremely familiar, and it's easy to connect with her and her surroundings. Even with the explanation of the surrounding war with the fae, it's set in a world not so different from reality. As Brinna discovers the secret, the magic side oozes in and takes the tale off in a fantastic direction.

Brinna has a lot of decisions to make and despite several mistakes, has her heart in the right place. Her moral compass and determination make her easy to root for. Several decisions were a bit quick and not as well-founded as they could have been, but this tale also holds such a quick pace and many layers, that it doesn't hurt the tale. There is a lot going on which Brinna still needs to discover, and this book only takes the first steps into a larger conspiracy.

The writing is definitely entertaining and there are so many tense moments that it's hard to put the book down. At times, things did come across a little superficial or rushed, but it wasn't enough to make me want to put the book down. It was a lot of fun to follow Brinna as she tries to save everyone as best she could, and it will be a treat to see where all of this goes next.

I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed reading the story very much.
