Kasey Michaels is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of more than 100 books (she doesn't count them). Kasey has received three coveted Starred Reviews from Publishers Weekly, two for the historical romances, THE SECRETS OF THE HEART and THE BUTLER DID IT, and a third for contemporary romance LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY (that shows diversity, you see). She is a recipient of the RITA, a Waldenbooks and Bookrak Bestseller award, and many awards from Romantic Times magazine, including a Career Achievement award for her Regency era historical romances. She is an Honor Roll author in Romance Writers of America, Inc. (RWA)

Kasey has appeared on the TODAY show, and was the subject of a Lifetime Cable TV show "A Better Way," in conjunction with Good Housekeeping magazine, a program devoted to women and how they have achieved career success in the midst of motherhood (short version: "with great difficulty").

A highly praised nonfiction book, written as Kathryn Seidick, "...OR YOU CAN LET HIM GO," details the story of Kasey and her family during the time of her eldest son's first kidney transplant.

Kasey has written Regency romances, Regency historicals, category books including novellas and continuities and a few series "launch" books, and single title contemporaries. She has coped with time travel, ghosts, trilogies, the dark side, the very light side, and just about everything in between. Hers is also the twisted mind behind her ongoing Maggie Kelly mystery series starring a former romance writer turned historical mystery writer whose gorgeous hunk of a fictional hero shows up, live and in color, in her Manhattan living room – to melt her knees, to help her solve murders, and to leave the top off her toothpaste. And, says Kasey, she's just getting started!

Series:
* His Chariot Awaits
* Lion On the Prowl
* Crown Family
* London Friends
* Chandlers Request
* The Trehan Brothers
* Maggie Kelly Mystery
* Romney Marsh
* Sunshine Girls

So yes, I broke down and bought the next six books in the 'Fortunes of Texas' series written in the 90's by my guess and the lack of cell phones in the story-lines. The Fortunes of Texas series are written with different authors but all around the same Fortune family (they have lots of children/cousins) and their close friends/employees with the kidnapping of a baby in the first book Million Dollar Marriage but is only slightly mentioned in most of the next six books. Each story is cute and basically goes through the usual pantheon of romantic scenarios, but I can't help but get sucked into this world. It may be that I want to reminisce in my 90's young adulthood with popped collars and a general freedom that is only allowed before internet obsessions and cellphone prisons.
Simple stories about (rich educated Texan) people falling in love when they least expect it which is true for the ladies as well as the gentlemen.
So this is based around misunderstandings about identities and secret pregnancy scenario mixed into one. Business lawyer and single mother, Eden Fortune has a good life with her son and her big family. She fell in love in Paris (admittedly a very easy thing to do in that romantic city) when she had a random meeting with Ben Ramires. Little did she know that he was actually hiding from his 'real' life as the Prince/Sheikh to a small Middle Eastern country. This is the classic Mr. Darcy syndrome for rich literary personalities who have people at their beg and call all the time and finally meet a special woman that loves them for who they are and not their money/power. Honestly, I seriously doubt that this is true in real life because controlling powerful people like to control with their power (obviously!). There is a lot of angsty second chances love and at least this isn't another case of pregnancy after only one experience because they have a serious fling in Paris although the duration is never discussed.
This is solid light romance and I am still strangely interested in this series after 7 books.

Interesting story with only one small piece of sizzle. A lot of deceit between Eden Fortune and the man she knew as Ben. Once they were honest with one another things fell into place. Of course, Baby Bryan is still missing. I read this because it is part of the series that my mother passed along to me years ago.

Sétimo volume da série Fortunes of Texas.

Eden ficou grávida de um Sheik em Paris e foi reencontrá-lo no interior dos Estados Unidos... acho que isso é cosmopolita demais para mim.

What s great book!

I love this story - romantic and real, a little twist and turn and a wonderful happy ending. Casey Michael's is one of my favorite authors.

This story was decent, however it lacked some of the humour I expect from KM novel. I struggled to pinpoint what was off for me in the story, and I think it was the way that Eden responded and talked. Her reactions seemed over the top, and instead of sounding/acting like a well educated lawyer with a background of family $$$, she sounded very weak, insecure, and panicked. The "conflict"? with his advisor was resolved in a very easy and unbelievable manner. I will admit I would like to know what happened to baby, and why. I also really appreciated the family tree, as I read a later book in the extended family part of the Fortunes related series and was lost to how everyone was related to each other.

I bought a set of these at a yard sale a few summers ago. Although I roll my eyes at the very predictable outcomes, I actually find myself looking forward to finding out how everyone in the family lived happily ever after. I'm a sucker for a fairy tale, I guess.
