Hex Drive #1

Hex Me, Baby, One More Time

Rate this book

If your magic is as tragic as your love life, it's time to practice safe hex.

Brita Davis, a witch with a talent for hexes, has had it up to her frizzy hair with her mom trying to set her up with every Tom, Dick, and Warlock. And the Cauldron Festival celebration has ignited her mother's passion once again for matchmaking. And when the warlock she's supposed to hook up with brings an entourage of Shifters as security with him, Brita is certain she wants nothing to do with the self-important jerk.

However, she can't seem to get one of the Shifters off her mind.

Cas, a werewolf on an assignment from the Council, can't let something like lust, love, and the mating scent get in the way of his job, but Brita makes it hard for him to do the task he was hired for—very, very hard—by her mere presence. Besides, she's bossy, sometimes she's a little mean, and her magic has attracted the attention of some very dangerous people.

Still, protecting Brita is turning out the be the only job he really wants.

About Renee:
USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.

When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)

She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.

This is one of those reads that was fun, has some mystery, romance with two people you just like a lot and friends to keep it interesting. Thank you, Ms. George, I needed this one.

Brita's mom is perfect, gorgeous, a strong witch, and committed matchmaker where Britta is concerned. Oh, and she has perfect hair, unlike Britta. Britta has some strong witchy powers as well, unfortunately, they tend to get her in trouble. This time her mom's matching-making had all kinds of problems. One, she couldn't just ignore him he is her mom's good friend's son. Two, while he seems to be a real snobby jerk, one of his four protectors does grab her attention (not the only thing he wants to grab).

While she is fighting her attraction, trying everything, including some negative discouragement, all kinds of things are going on. Fire, injuries, threats and much more. Will her magic be able to save her this time? What about the others who are in trouble?

Cas knows their connection but Britta hasn't realized yet. He's a shifter but then her dad is and her mom a witch. Will their destiny hinder or help them with the danger after Britta? Things will heat up and so will they.

Enjoy this funny mystery with characters you'll want to meet over and over again. Five-star enjoyment!

I Loved this book, the first in a series by Renee George. I laughed out loud from the beginning on. Brita's mother is trying to get her matched with a very "important" warlock, much to Brita's chagrin. He comes to the yearly festival with his group of shifter bodyguards. Thinking him a snob and definitely not for her, she seems to have an eye for one of his bodyguards, although she tries to hide it.She has pretty strong magic and adept at giving hexes which many times gets her in trouble. When black magic appears the day of the cauldron festival and Brita gets kidnapped, seemingly by black magic forces. So goes the mystery entwined with a little romance, lots of snarky comments and too many laughs to keep track of. A Wonderful first book in this series and I look with heightened anticipation for more! It seems Renee George has done it again! I received an ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Hex Drive series written by Renee George. This book is also part of Robyn Petermans Magic and Mayhem Universe. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Hexy as Hell Shifter

As a fourteen year old girl, Brita, a witch, would get into tonnes of trouble - not the least of which was hexing a boil onto the bum of her best friends brother.
Years later, living amongst a town full of shifters, she still has to be wary of uttering curses in case they hex people.
It’s an annual festival and her mum has set up a meet-cute with a handsome but irritating warlock. But it’s his shifter guard, who catches her eye.
I really enjoy Renee’s books, mostly because the female characters don’t take crap, there’s always lots of humour in the books, as well as a story arc and intriguing plot.
In this one, I really like the lead character Brit, but adore her fat feline familiar Simon.
Lots of romance, magic and mayhem as the series suggests, and a really fun book.

This is a relatively short and quick read which not only will you want to finish in one sitting, but you won't want to put it down until you finish. Lots of humor, super fun and best of all, part of Robyn Peterman's Magic and Mayhem so even when you finish this if you don't go right to the second book, you'll have plenty of options. This book has plenty of its own magic and mayhem so you won't be sorry! Great characters and character and story development, a laugh out loud wonderful shifter story, completely worth the time with a nice mix of, suspense, romance, humor, what more could you possibly ask for. So, one more line here and NO SPOILERS Brita and the cast of characters are super fun, go grab a drink, snuggle up and get to reading this book now!

Brita is a witch who has a particular talent for hexes. Cas is a werewolf shifter, part of a security team, and knows he is in trouble as soon as he and Brita meet. With the mating scent in the air, where will their destiny lead them? You can be sure it won’t be smooth-sailing!

One thing I can say for this author is that she knows how to write fun, downright hilarious stories with memorable characters you’ll want to take home with you! I just love the books in the Magic & Mayhem Universe. Laugh-out-loud, enjoyable reading is a promise! Grab your copy and see how long it takes before you’re grinning through an entire chapter! You can’t go wrong with this one!

Brita is a witch her talent is hexes. Her mom is a witch and her dad is a wolf shifter.
Cas is wolf shifter and he works of the council.
Her mom's is trying so hard to get her married so when her best friend says her son Monty will be coming to town for the cauldron festival her mom pairs them up and thing go crazy. Add to it witches with black magic and wow what a story.
I loved the characters. The story is fantastic. It had betrayal, drama, mystery, action and so much more. I couldn't out it down and didn't want it to end! Awesome read.
Voluntarily review a copy and I honestly love it.

If I am really needing a entertaining escape I know this author will deliver as she has in this one. This came also at the right time with all that was starting to come fast from life at this time of year. Brita will give you more than a few laughs in this one along with the magical romance. Cross it with one hunk of a wolf-Cas will have you needing a bib almost from all the drool. Sprinkle some suspense, along with the chemistry and this one will have you sit back until you reach the last of this one.

No one does witches and shifters like Renee George as she brings them together once again.

Brita a witch with a penchant for hexes but lacks love as she is a target of being set up. Cas is a werewolf shifter as they meet as a part of a security set up at a matchmaking Cauldron festival.

Nothing like a little lust in the air as love is on everyone mind. A funny charming read.

New Editor Needed

I can forgive e a typo or two in a book, but a typo or two per chapter is so distracting I had trouble getting into the story. There is one point in the book that seems to be missing transition chapters. It skips from sexual tension to undying devotion too fast and ends too abruptly. I like this author and the idea of playing off of Robyn Pererman's Universe., but please get a new editor. I'm free if you need a devotee.

The story was interesting, though quick, but the love story and sex scenes didn't work for me. One we don't know the characters well enough to be emotionally attached to them. Two Cas and Britta don't have enough scenes together to believe there's any sort of feeling between them and three the sex scene just happened out of no where in someplace entirely inappropriate so it was jarring rather than in any way hot. There's a lot of potential here but it happens to quick to really feel anything.

Brita is being forces to go to the Cauldron Festival with Montrose Adadose, a warlock. That would be fine except Brita hasn’t had the best luck – she has a habit of accidentally hexing people. She accidentally hexes Montrose and he is not happy but one of his guards Cas is amused. Things start to go a bit sideways and she and Cas keep getting thrown together. Their banter is delightful. Looking forward to book 2.

Brita is a witch with a bit of a hexing problem. Anytime she curses someone it comes true. Even though she is not the most popular, or safe witch around, Brita's mom keeps trying to set her up with suitable warlocks. When she is introduced to the next eligible warlock Monty, it is not him but his werewolf guard Cas she is attracted to. Brita and Cas have great chemistry and their banter is funny. I look forward to reading more of this series.

Brita has a knack for hexing people and has to be careful of what she says. When her old crush comes back to town, things get even more interesting.

I smiled a lot as I read the story. Her hexes can really go in odd directions. She and Cas make a great couple and I loved how protective he was of her. There is a real twist to the story.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

This was such a cute story. Plus it had mystery, snark and intrigue! I was surprised by the characters at all of the turns and kept entertained through the entire story. From Brita and Cas, to family and friends, and even enemies, they were all entertaining. I couldn’t believe how fast I read this book. An enjoyable page turner!

Funny and Action Packed

Those two accomplishments are difficult for many writers, but this book pulled it off easily. I really liked Brita. Her have a were hilarious. And Cas was a hoot, funny and protective and not a man to give up easily. The storyline was good, the bad guy a definite surprise.

What a delightful story. Britt is a witch with a talent for Hexes. Her Mother keeps trying to matchmake. Usually she’s not interested, but perhaps this time it might work. Loved all the stories from this author.

Hex me Baby,

Magic and Mayhem universe , I'd love to live here lol.
Brita's mum is trying to marry her off to a nice warlock.
Only problem Brita doesn't want to marry the jerk.
But one of his guards is yummy.
However, bad magic people as after her.
Good read
