Something has happened, and I have to go back. Back there. That place bordering Hell.
Being back in my real home, the UK, has been incredible. Grandma Violet has fed me like she’s about to flog me at the local farmers’ market, Phoebe has been her usual drama llama self and Nate has filled my tummy with hearts and flowers, gooeyness and butterflies. Sigh. He’s just too dreamy.
But now the time has come; I’m leaving for that dreaded plane, that place. Those people. I didn’t think it would happen so soon – a whole week early in fact!
I’m not sure what I expected from summer break, but it sure wasn’t this. - Emilia
She left me. She actually left me without a single word. I’ll make sure she regrets it as soon as I see her face again. I think… I might actually miss her. - Caleb
I told her to stay away a hundred different ways. I have plans. Caleb and I have plans. There is no room for Emilia in our plans. The stupid girl shouldn’t have come back. - Anya
Lauren - AKA Piper/Pipes - she’s new to this whole writing thang.
She lives in the middle of a field, somewhere in the UK.
She really enjoys reading books and writing stories. She also has a very unhealthy obsession with bookmarks.
Although she writes books, she is a reader above all else. She has a tonne of plot ideas for new books, but she will never be ‘that author’, releasing a new book every month... she has a full time job, a home to keep up and a boyfriend that needs way more attention than a fully grown man should!
Reading, writing and music go hand in hand for her, and she normally asks her readers to provide their own playlist for her books - she loves finding new tracks!
She promises to keep you updated on her social media pages regarding her writing, bookmarks and her shoes!
ARC received by author in exchange for an honest review!
I found an incredible new author in the first book. I'm glad to say she still is incredible! With a beautiful mind!
Like in my other review I feel the need to point out that I still hate Anya with a passion! I think that's normal, she just is hate-able?
Cable effin Knight is a real hard boy/man to understand! It wasn't always easy, but the best things aren't!
I found peace with them! I found happiness! I found joy! Everyone deserves their happy ever after!
There is one thing I didn't like and that's how it was left with Nate. He is an incredible guy who I needed a big more info off. Also Anya and how that went further.
Part 2 didn’t hold up… unfortunately. The book picks up just after the cliffy, so the couple spends a chunk of the first half separated… and things go off the rails from there... Too many pregnancies, too many POV’s, too much stupid stuff, too much drama-llama.
Bottom Line- I didn’t enjoy this one and skimmed large chunks. IMO, it would’ve worked better with less filler and one book. There’re two epilogues, +7 and +5 years later. The author states she hasn’t decided how to handle crazy Anya… I hope she leaves her where she is.
The Dark Knight part two was definitely different from book one. While it still had bully aspects, I felt like it was all over the place, unfortunately. Caleb and Emilia were still sexy but with new issues between them, it was hard to see the development of their feelings. And with that random ending with Anya, this story was a slight miss for me. 3 stars! ~Ratula
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book because part one kind of shattered my dreams. However this book really redeemed Caleb and was a good ending to the Dark Knight. This was so much better and had a great storyline. I couldn't stand Anya but I do kinda wonder what came of her in the epilogue. It just kind of cut off with her and I want to know if she tried anything else later on but it doesn't say. Other than that this was pretty good!
I really do not know what to say about this one. BUT I did finish it at the second attempt and then proceeded to read the second one because I needed to know this car crash ended.
Caleb was a complete arsehole and while he redeemed himself a smidge by the end of book 2 I just could not let the past slide. The way he treated girls in general, dubious consent at times and just shagged anything that walked and thought it was OK.
The heroine doesn’t fare any better. She is a doormat. Went from virgin to nymphomaniac in minutes and takes so much shit...and still goes back for more.
Don’t get me started on Anya, she seriously needed to die.
Hell, it was a car crash but an addictive one at that.
I have been waiting for this book since I finished part one. It was delayed a little bit but it was WORTH THE WAIT!
Holy cow did I love this book (and part one). This is only book two written by LF Piper. She has the ability to write a great story and a fantastic imagination.
This one was less dark than the previous book and less sexy times, but the overall story was so important.
Caleb and Emilia are an amazing couple. There are significant changes in them during the book and we see the good and the bad as well as the ability to love and forgive. They are made for one another.
She is a 1 click author for me for sure and I know these beauties will end up on my book shelf--I love them so much. I don't reread--but these I will.
OK so I got a massive book hangover this Duet. I literally couldn't put it down I needed to see what happened so I started this book straight after part one and it was pretty late and staying up most of the night until I finished it. I loved it and I'm so glad that Emilia and Caleb got their HEA and loved them st the end. Caleb tookat of time to grow in me he was a total prick to Emilia and she didn't deserve what any of them did to her especially him. Only reason for not giving 5* is I would of lived to see what happened to Anya in the years that passed just to see if she got what she deserved (And that would be a massive ass kicking) #crazybitch. But yes I loved this and would recommend it completely

Wow! This book was amazing . Great ending to a dark beginning. Love reading their adventures and troubles. Caleb had it tough growing up and Emilia had a loving family. I am sad it’s over but happy how it ended. At the end everyone wins!
Ok I read the book and liked it. It started out a little slow but eventually picked up. Knight was a prick in the first book I kinda wish he stayed like that. But every one grows up. I’m glad they got their happy ending!!
This was everything even though I wanted to kill Anya an Caleb at Times mostly Anya that twatwaffle! I really loved the growth of Caleb from being a total douche canoe to actually finding himself and how deeply he loves Emilia! Definitely a great series
I found myself not even rooting for these characters anymore.
Caleb just continues to have sex with random women and even the ex-girlfriend he claims to hate. If pressed for a reason, he justifies it saying he needs sex because Emilia is gone. Then when he says he'll be abstinent, that lasts for about half a day, and then he chases Emilia down in the school halls. Disgusting. Emilia dates someone else while she's away for the summer in the UK, but doesn't tell her new boyfriend she's pregnant - even when she returns to the US and dates Caleb again. I guess the two are meant for each other?
I was also really unimpressed with the sudden change in Caleb by the end of this book. His character lacked all developmental growth and I'm just supposed to accept his new personality in the last few chapters and in the epilogue. Caleb needed to get his act together and grovel, or at least apologize for his bullying and hypocritical behavior towards Emilia before trying to move forward their strange relationship.
I also wish Emilia's mental health was acknowledged more in this book. In the last one, it seemed like she was deteriorating because of the bullying and stressful environment at school - I hated that that just all went away since she visited the UK and returned to the US again. I would have liked to see her get some real help.
Lastly, Emilia's "friend" Kaydee, is right up there in the list of terrible characters. Her sudden character change from being the shy, meek, scared girl, to the sexual deviant who participates in Emilia's bullying after becoming popular for dating Ellis was out of nowhere. But what's worse, is that since Emilia's trip, Kaydee suddenly sees how flawed the "popular" girls are and she misses Emilia, and tries to make it up to her when she returns by. informing her of Anya's secrets. And of course, Emilia befriends her again.
It seems good, old Emila enjoys being a masochist by keeping negative people in her life.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
An absolutely perfect ending to the story. I am so excited to finally have the rest of the story. The author has done a great job creating the content for the rest of this book, and I feel like I have gotten exactly what I wanted from the series. I had a feeling I knew where she wanted to take a part of the book, but I was pleasantly surprised with the more adult feel to this second book when compared to the first one. The characters are extremely comfortable asking and taking what they want from their relationships. The story is full of depth, turmoil, and inner struggles. There is plenty of drama, heartbreak, growth, love, forgiveness and more. This is an author I completely adore and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This book resumes immediately where book 1 left off. Emilia is spending the summer in the UK while Caleb passes his summer smoking, drinking, and banging girls including the crazy OW Anya. He remains a cheater until he meets Emilia again and resolves that he really is bereft without her. He is his growly, sexy, jealous-filled, pierced, tattooed self. Anya continues her destructive mischief until it comes to a head. Emilia vacillates between no longer tolerant of Caleb's treatment of her to succumbing to his choices, his advances. I often had little words for her believing she had lost of ability to think. In the end, they finally achieve their happily ever after, after some growth and healing by Caleb. There is a side story of Ellis, Caleb's best friend, and Kaydee, Emilia's friend.
The pace of this book was rather slow, overly lengthy, seemingly more than the previous book, and again, a great deal of inner monologue and joking with bites to the reader. Still very steamy, less so than book 1. Story was appealing, though less happening. It was more about the realization of their relationship and little surprise. Overall, still maintained my interest with a bit of skimming forward. Loved the surprise and how it was made to work in this book. The best part of the story happens after 50% when Caleb comes into self-awareness, and the epilogues were excellent.
Part 2 pickups up with Emilia enjoying herself in the UK with her friends and family. She is trying to get off the Caleb roller coaster. Meanwhile, Caleb is trying to cleanse his thoughts about Emilia and accepting that she left him. Very predictable, when Caleb and Emilia's path cross again, Caleb really starts examining these new and raw feelings he has. While Caleb was still dominant, he did soften a bit, which made me want to be on his side. This was a very entertaining and interesting series. As I said in part 1, this is a true bullying book. It is a minefield of triggers. You have been warned!!
I do not see any new books from this author. I hope she continues to write these type of stories. I did enjoy it!
Hire an editor. I wore this on the first book but it’s true for the second as well. These books need help but they ARE good. I wouldn’t have cared to read the second or even finish the first if it wasn’t good but they desperately need editing and/or proofing!
Right off the bat I was in mixed feelings with it because I didn’t like part 1 that much. I didn’t even know if I was going to pick up part two but we are here!) I loved this so much more then part one sksjsjs - It’s Starts off when Emilia’s on summer break and she’s with her friend, I loved the friendship she has with Phoebe. When she first found out she was pregnant and the support she got was *chefs kiss. In part one I tried seeing it from Anyas pov and how she felt now that I got her chapters I don’t even want to bother with her. Just creepy *laughs nervously. When Caleb realize that he loved Emilia just made me happy because looking back at part one and the build up is wow.
- When Emilia And Kaydee started talking again and There friendship grew ( seeing from the epilogue) made me happy because with Emilia’s pov and her judging Kaydee and calling her shy was just off but again I’m happy for that.... - Anya just needs to take care of herself because wow and I was like stop it get some help..(vine) and I’m glad she’s getting help.. - When I met Nate first I was surprised but then got to know him and was like ?? But it was just a weird thing that happened. - I Baught these books for one reason and that was to write my first ever goodreads review and kind of happy it was these books. If L.F. Piper writes another book I’d be more then happy to pick it up!!)

I liked book one more Book one 4 stars Book two 3 stars Caleb age 18 Emilia age 16 HuGeSpoiler!!
I didn’t really like the writing style but the story is messy and somewhat angsty. It’s like guilty pleasure book, not a great read but a little nuts and entertaining enough. The book is not safe. Caleb pretty much sleeps with lots of OW even after getting Emilia pregnant. This includes a crazy f buddy, strippers and a lot of faceless women. She sleeps with one guy. Emilia moves from UK, meets Caleb. He is unapologetic, unstable and a bully towards her. They have sex pretty much the next day. He continues to sleep around. She gets bullied. He secretly obsesses over her and tries to forget her. She goes back to England, had a summer fling. She finds out she is pregnant with Caleb’s baby, meanwhile unstable fuckbuddy is also pregnant. Later you find out it’s someone else’s. Caleb and Emilia move in together and get married. 7 year later epilogue from Caleb. 12 year later epilogue from Emilia
The train wreck was spectacular. I mean, Anya takes the winner's cup in crazy, but her diagnosis...cringe. It's not even in the DSM-5, but I'm no expert. It certainly made me laugh, though. When I googled it, the symptoms seem to apply to Caleb, too. I guess, he grows out of it and into real love.
I read it. It was entertaining. I agree with some other reviewers about the misplaced British talk from a born American, but I do not get bogged down by details such as grammar and style when clearly the point of these books is romance, drama, and steamy scenes. I must say that I came out of this book with quite the shock, like I just watched a really bad, Hallmark Channel movie.
This book, while still suffering from some of the word usage issues of this first book, seems to be edited much better (and thus there is less detracting from the story). I found this book to be much better than first, which might sound odd since it is a continuation of the same story. The characters' behavior seemed less sophomoric and more believable. I liked that we saw some redemption by characters who had wronged Emilia in the first book. She deserved a break. I was happy with the ending, and glad to see more than one epilogue, giving us a glimpse into the future for these characters. Overall, a worthy bully read.
I can count on one hand how many bully romance books I’ve read and enjoyed! Dark knight is one of them. It’s was awesome to see Emilia and calebs story. Angsty, harsh, rough, swoon worthy, dark, crazy and at times a little evil.
The supporting character absolutely made for a better read. Great character development. Caleb was so intense and damaged, but the ultimate dark knight. Emilia was such a believable character and I could certainly relate to her as a teenager lol. It was seriously a great book!
If you like the first book you’ll probably like this one it’s pretty much status quo in regards to the writing. character development did happen which is a plus. I read this book because I literally had nothing else to do I hadn’t planned on it but I thought I’d give it a try. I will add nothing happens between the couple until like 50% of the book they don’t even see each other so that was kind of irritating. I think the villain if that’s what you wanna call it I had an ending well deserved but also puzzling. Too Many epilogues I was fine with just 1.
This story was moving. The arch of a deeply abused and neglected young man coming into adulthood. The deep seeded need to love and be loved for who one truly is rather than the mask we allow ourselves to wear daily. I personally love the style this author chose. The subtitles for each chapter as a small inclusive blurb of what the chapter is headed into and the aurora found along the way are really well placed.
Ugh ! So so good ! I loved every minute of it ! I could have done with out the Anya stuff at the end tho ! But it was still really really good ! I feel like I could read a whole book on Ellis and Kaydee like I need it ! But Caleb and Emilia are so adorable together I was swooning the whole time even when he was being a total douche to her ! It was perfect the double epilogue was exactly what I needed at the end too 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
