DNF - quit at 14%
this story is so disjointed, it felt more like a rough draft being sorted out. Razor (& Gunner) felt like they could NOT be professional security. Just wasn’t buying into it. I felt like I was reading about high school guys by their attitudes.
I’ll pass on this series.
At my age (approaching 60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

This read like it was book 3 in a series. There were so many people it was confusing at times. Nice romance between Talon and Ava with lots of heat and crazy family.

This is the first book in the K19 Security Systems series, a spin off from the Butler Ranch series, so if you were going through withdrawals and missing the characters you’ve come to know and love, have no fear. Several make an appearance in Razor's and Ava's story. The book begins at Mercer's and Quinn's wedding, with Tabor “Razor” Sharp and Avarie “Ava” McNamara both part of the bridal party. At first glance, it appears to be an ideal opportunity for Razor and Ava to get reacquainted and perhaps a bit more, but it quickly turns into a threat against Ava’s life. Although it breaks all the rules for an operative to have a personal relationship with his charge, Razor refuses to leave Ava's side.
Slade is an author I’ve come to rely on for heartfelt romance and adrenaline-filled action and suspense, and she did not disappoint with this one! The exciting storyline and steamy, emotional romance paired with the superior quality and Slade's gift for writing make her work a joy and delight to experience. I’m always curious to watch a heroine in her twenties develop, and I must confess, I loved Ava. Yes, she went through a wide array of emotions, as anyone in her situation would, and it tickled me that she called Razor by his given name, Tabor, unless she was mad at him – then he was Razor. One of the things I loved most was how she portrayed herself as confident and independent but Razor saw through that to the real Ava.
Razor is a terrific hero, a whole lot alpha, but prone to the occasional misstep when it comes to relationships, and he and Ava were perfect together. My only negative is that I hated to see this book end. I didn’t have nearly enough of these characters and I want more. Their story is thrilling and exciting, sweet and steamy, and emotional and heartwarming, which all adds up to a phenomenally satisfying read. As with the Butler Ranch series, there’s a piece of the storyline that continues beyond this book, and I can’t wait to return to this fantastic book world and these amazing characters in the next book in this series!

Love the story.
Razor is in an interesting predicament, he is tasked with guarding a women he is not for. This could lead to several different problems. She could think he just got cozy with her to be in a better position to protect her or he was just using her and last of all maybe he did care. Loved the story line and the characters were fun to get to know. Definitely looking forward to reading Gunners story next.

If this book is any indication of what this series will be like, then I am hooked. Loved the story-line and especially the characters and all in all it was just a fantastic read. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.

This is the first book in a new series spun off the Butler Ranch series. We got to know Razor and Ava as supporting characters in the earlier series, making their romance highly anticipated and well worth waiting for.
Tabon Sharp, nicknamed Razor, is just about the hottest spec ops protector ever, and when he sets his sights on Ava, everything heats up considerably. Then he finds out that she's the protectee in their newest assignment, giving him ample opportunity to get close to her but also necessitating putting the romance on hold to focus on the various threats against her.
Ava doesn't quite know what to think of Razor's sudden interest, and it takes her a while to trust him and take his intentions seriously. Once the obstacles are dealt with, their romance burns fast and hot and has a beautiful HEA. The nail-biting suspense and heart-stopping action keeps the pages turning. I loved going back inside this world, seeing familiar faces, and getting updates on previous couples. It was a lot of fun to read, and I devoured the entire story in one sitting. This is a standalone romance, but enough elements of the good vs. evil case were left open to start the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Since the day they met Tabon 'Razor' Sharp and Avarie 'Ava' McNamara have wanted each other, things didn't happen that first night because Razor was on duty protecting Quinn. Now it's Quinn and Mercer's wedding and Razor has the desire to see if the same heat is between them as it was a year ago.
That whole scenario gets shot down when he finds he is going to have to become her bodyguard. The reasons for the protection are complex from the start. First though Razor needs to convince Ava to move in with him.
Now there's something Ava can do that will become very disconcerting to Razor. She can tell when he's lying, and she really hates when he keeps things from her. The way he knows she's mad at him is she calls him Razor instead of Tabon.
I loved meeting Razor's family and more of the guys, some not yet K19 but will be offered spots. It also looks like Razor's sister has her eye on one of them. Oh and the whales, lots of whales visible from his home on the Oregon coast.
Intrigue, suspense and drama as things heat up in the case that Ava is a witness in. Razor breaks a lot of rules when it comes to Ava because he is in love with her.
Hold your breath action, tears, laughter, romance and sizzle will have you turning the pages to see what happens next.

This book makes my head hurt
This is book 1 of this series, but clearly you have to have read other books by this author to understand not only the dynamic but how the characters fit together. You never get a clear understanding of the main characters. They are just there in the story and the author expects you to accept things with zero explanations or background information, which is especially hard if this is your first book youve read by the author. For example, the hero's friend was in love with the mom of the heroine's best friend who he was protecting, before they found out she a traitor who sold secrets to the Russians and died. The hero and his friends are also friends and partners with the dad of the heroine's best friend, who is like a brother to them, but that doesnt make the Hero too old for the heroine...but also she's too young. And the heroine's dad is a Russian mobster, who fake his death, assumed an identity, got a face transplant/ REALLY good plastic surgery, and now wants to also maybe kill the heroine. And her mom is evidently Ursula from the little mermaid but a 100 lb version. If you read all that with a "wtf did I just read" expression.....save yourself.

Avarie "Ava" McNamara and Tabon "Razor" Sharp meet up again at the wedding of their best friends, Mercer and Quinn and the sparks fly just like the first time they met. While at the wedding Razor meets Ava's father and institution tells him Ava's father is not who her family believes him to be which leads the K19 team to put Ava under Razor protection. Only problem is Razor has to separate the professional relationship from the personal one he really wants. As the K19 team digs deeper into Ava's father things come to a head that threatens Ava life and he has to tell her the truth about her father.
Can Razor keep Ava safe from harm, help capture her "so called" father without destroying the budding relationship with Ava that he wants to lead to their HEA??

OMG! This story is so beautiful! Razor is an older man who a year before saw and in one evening with only a handful of words fell in love with a young 22 yr old woman, Ava. He has been fantasizing about her for a year and then discovers she will be a bridesmaid in one of his friend;s wedding. After the ceremony he and another friend have a bad feeling about Ava;s father. Then he discovers that Ava is in trouble. She witnessed a hand off and will now be a witness in a high profile case and is in jeopardy of being assassinated. Razor isn;t go to let anyone else protect her. He is still coming to terms with how he feels but is also not willing to let her out of his sight. He explains to her some of the reasons for his being her bodyguard but holds back on one important critical piece of information.
This is such a lovely story about an older man coming to terms with loving a younger woman and wanting to protect and care for her.

She has been on Razor’s mind since he met her on the beach. Ava has been thinking about him also, especially since they are paired for their friends’ wedding. Razor and his former Marine brothers have partnered to open a security and asset bodyguard company. Most of their business is from the CIA so all of the missions are always on a need to know basis. Ava has witnessed an exchange that puts her in extreme danger. Razor won’t let anyone but him to be on first line. Now the CIA, M16 (British agency) and their company are on the trail. Get ready for a bunch of suspense filled drama. Well written and will keep you reading straight through.

This is an amazing romantic suspense book! 💞💗💞
I can't say how much I really enjoyed this book! I kept telling myself "one more chapter" until I finally admitted that I just had to finish it. Tabon or "Razor" as he is known to his friends and co-workers met Ava/Avarie a year ago at the beach while on detail to protect her friend Quinn. Neither one was able to get the other one off their minds so when they are both chosen to be part the wedding party for Quinn they hope for something more. And boy do they get it! 💕😍💕
This is the follow-up series to the Butler Ranch Series but you can read it as a standalone, easily. As with most series though, it is better to read them in order just get the whole experience.😉💗

This fantastic book is first in the K19 Security Solution series and it features to Tabon “Razor” Sharp and Avarie McNamara. Their’s is a sigh-worthy romance. They mention the age difference a few times but I really didn’t see either of them too young or too old for each other. They met and he had to leave right away for work. They didn’t meet again for another year but thought about each other daily. Though there were MANY bumps in their road, his love for her is one that will stick with me for a long, long time. I mean really, what more could a woman want?
The action, adventure and suspense in this story line is excellent. The romance is memorable. When a big, strong alpha-man falls deeply in love it’s a beautiful sight to see and not easy to forget. I’m super excited for book two!

Razor by Heather Slade was a great book with some action a touch of suspense and very hot and sexy.
I really enjoyed this story it kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. A well written romance with some really strong, loyal and sexy characters. Razor and Ava have undeniable chemistry, they know this because of the first time they met but they had to go their separate ways now at a mutual friend’s wedding they meet up again. I absolutely loved these characters they were strong, loyal, and sexy. When circumstances cause Ava trouble Razor is determined to keep her safe. There are some great twists and turns for me a real page turner.
I absolutely recommend this great book.

This review is being left voluntarily and any and all opinions are my honest thoughts on this book and/or the authors work. This is one hot, romantic suspenseful read. There is lots of action, in and out of the bedroom. The chemistry between Razor and Ava is off the charts and the threat to Ava's life seems to just fuel the intensity of every emotion felt in this book. There was plenty of ups, plenty of downs with action around every corner. I was on the edge of my seat, afraid to know what was coming, yet unable to not know.

First off, I loved the fact that to everyone else they were Ava and Razor, but to each other they were Tabon and Avarie. To me, that was just part of what made this book special. From the moment they met, Razor seemed to know that Ava was it for him, and I always enjoy that in a story line. She was somewhat insecure with herself and her feelings, but he never wavered and stood by her even when she lashed out and was struggling with her feelings. He was a fierce protector. Looking forward to more from this series!

You know a story is spellbinding when you get up at 4AM to see what is going to happen next! Amazing start to a new series by Heather Slade. WOW! This series is a follow-on to the Butler Ranch series in a lot of ways and we run into some of the same characters, at least in this first installment, although I believe that will not be the case in the future. As I have said in other reviews, if you want to know the gist of this story, you can read the blurbs. The suspense and the romance of this book kept me turning pages. Tabon (Razor) and Ava are a compelling couple and I loved reading their story. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

This is the first book I’ve ever read by this author and the blurb totally had me hooked from reading it, I had to read the whole story. Just wow what a story it was, love finding new authors and if her books are like this one then I’m going to be a big fan. Could not put this book down till I had eaten all the book up lol amazing plot with characters that not are just likeable but really grab your attention and keep you there right to the end. They also had great passion and chemistry throughout the whole book and I can’t wait for more in this series by heather slade. I would definitely recommend this book to all book lovers out there

Provided with a free ARC for an honest review. The beginning of another great series from Heather Slade. This is an offshoot of the Butler Ranch series, which has concluded. Razor was introduced then as was Ava, and this is their love story. Great character development, situations, and dialogue, not to mention really nice love scenes. I have greatly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it.

This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last one. I love romantic suspense stories, and this book was dripping with action, suspense, love and sexiness.
It's the first one in the K19 Security Solutions series and it can be read as a standalone. However, from what I could see, this is connected to yet other series, and even though I could read and enjoy the story just fine, I could tell there was a huge backstory.
Ava and Razor had already met and couldn't forget each other. Besides their connection and chemistry, they were forced together as he was chosen to protect her because her life is in serious danger.
There wasn't much drama about their feelings, but the danger they were in was substantial, which made them literally run for their lives several times.
As they tried to stay safe, their feelings kept growing and their chemistry was undeniable.
The story was fast paced, but not in a bad way.
The secondary characters played a huge part in the whole plot and that only left me wanting to read them as well.
As I said, it was a really good book.

When Razor is presented with a mission to protect the woman he can't seem to get out of his mind, does he agree or tell them no, as his friend Gunner keeps telling him? Of course Razor agrees, no one can protect Ava better than he can. If only he can keep his hands off her as he's protecting her...
I mostly liked this romantic suspense - 3.5 stars rounded up is fair. Razor and his fellow agents in K19 are all interesting, super alpha men who do their jobs better than anyone else. I had a big problem with Ava, though. I found her annoying and her inner thoughts were ridiculous. Aside from her, though, this is a good story with lots of action, steamy times, and a great cast of secondary characters all lead by Razor, whom I loved. I'm looking forward to more of this series, and hoping the next heroine is better than Ava.

Now, a year later, they were both paired up in a wedding party. He has never forgotten her, and Ava has never forgotten him. He is about ten years older than she is. This means nothing to the two of them. A case comes up in K19, and he is assigned to be her body guard. This case is very complicated because it involves he ex and her supposed father. So many emotions throughout this story, to say the least. There is a happy ending, though the case is still ongoing. I just love Heather Slade's writing. It pulls me right into the story without hesitation. Kudos Heather Slade for a great book.

A good start to a new series with lots of excitement, what seems like a series full of genuine characters, and great storylines.
Razor and Ava's story started a while ago but until this book, their friends wedding and her life being threatened Razor turned up his speed to let her know how he feels along with keeping her safe, from everyone.

"Razor" is a fast paced, short novel with suspense and action. Razor (Tabon) and Ava had been attracted to each other since they met a year ago. They meet again at their friends' wedding. When they are just getting to know each other, K19 assigns Razor to be Ava's bodyguard , adding tension to the situation.
I really enjoyed this introduction to a new series. I liked the characters of Razor and Ava, but wasn't sure about the age difference; only because she was 22. If she were a bit older, I wouldn't mention it. (Disclosure: My SO is 9 and half years older than me, so it really isn't an issue.) I was a bit overwhelmed with the introduction of so many characters, establishing who was working with K19.
While the main characters romance has a happily-ever-after, the suspense plot continues in the next book. If you haven't read the Butler Ranch series, you may be a bit confused about the secondary characters, especially at the beginning.

Razor and Ava's relationship is pushed along by some seriously intense drama from outside sources, but their chemistry comes across the pages hot and strong. The instant attraction that they felt when they met a while back is brought to the forefront in this book and hurried along because of the danger that Ava is in. They really are a fun couple and I loved so many things about them.
Razor is the first book in this spin-off series but you can absolutely read it as a stand alone.
There is action, suspense, and a story that will have you lost in the world of the K19 crew. I felt like I know so many of the characters from the Butler Ranch series, but now we are meeting lots of new characters and Ms. Slade is going to take us on more exciting adventures while fighting crime.
