The Cowboy's Goodnight Kiss
For as long as Eleanor Mackenna can remember, her heart has belonged to the irresistible McCrea Coldiron. A cowboy with rugged charm and a devil-may-care attitude, he has always been the embodiment of her deepest desires. But when he offers her a night she’ll never forget, she’s forced to choose between her love for the cowboy and the bitter truth behind his affections.
The Heartbreak Cowboy
Can an old flame reignite to become a fiery love? Four years ago, McCrea Coldiron was thrust into a heart-wrenching ultimatum that shattered his tender and newly budding romance with Eleanor Mackenna. Settle down and find a wife or lose his inheritance. Divorced and now proprietor of the Promise Point Horse Rescue Ranch, McCrea has no regrets about his decision to choose land over love as he watched Eleanor storm out of his life — until he discovers they made more than love the night he proposed. Eleanor knows all about choices and letting go. The single mom has come back to Santa Camino, Texas to sell her grandparent's ranch and sever all ties to her hometown. The only thing standing in her way is McCrea Coldiron, the man she's loved since childhood. Eleanor knows just how badly McCrea can burn a woman and how persuasive he can be when he wants something. When he asks for a second chance, she's forced to choose between trusting her heart again or running away from the man who has always owned it.

She and her husband live on a farm in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. Along with reading and writing, she enjoys painting, photography, baking, and spending time with her rescue dogs, miniature horses, and donkeys. https://www.instagram.com/minabeckett/ Life in her corner of the world consists of long winter nights curled up by the fire, cheering on her favorite football teams in the fall, enduring March Madness in the spring and walking barefoot through her garden with a cold jar of tea in the summer ─ fireflies at sunset accompanied by a serenade of crickets and frogs, and lazy nights in the porch swing.
This book is so good I pretty much read it in a day. I was busy and could only read a little bit at a time. I chose a day to do nothing but relax and read. I started this book at 20% (Kindle version) and did not put it down until I was done. So good! Misunderstandings and being stubborn hold us back from so much in life. This is true for McCrea and Eleanor. It’s been 4 long years since they saw each other.
4 years to make up all kinds of decisions based on information we had at the time. When a love is true and pure, and you let yourself actually listen, the walls you build can crumble. I loved to learn more about McCrea and Eleanor and found myself mentally yelling at both at one point or another.
Secrets always have a habit of coming out no matter how long they’ve been hidden. Holding on to the bitterness from the past can also hold you back from your present and future.
I love these books by Mina Beckett!!! They are such enjoyable reads!!!
The main character – Eleanor Mackenna – walked out of McCrea Coldiron’s life four years ago. Not knowing why she left, but knowing that he was not ready to get married at the time. McCrea enjoys being single and running the Promise Point Horse Rescue Ranch. Then Eleanor comes home to arrange the sale of her grandparents’ ranch – and OMG, the story just keeps getting better and better. I don’t write spoilers – so you are just going to have to read this for yourself to find out exactly what happens with her return.
I totally recommend this book. It is an easy read and is fun to see exactly what happens.
What a pleasure to discover a new author, especially at the beginning of a new series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the character development was outstanding, the romance level very satisfying and other characters in the book are begging for their own story.
I started reading this and at 64% I looked at GR to look at the author's other books and saw there was a prequel, The Cowboy's Goodnight Kiss. I believe you can only get that by downloading it off the author's website. I read that then reread the 64% and then finished the book. It helped a lot to fill in what happened prior to the beginning of this book.
I had some issues with the timeline and a few plot points but overall it was good. It's a pet peeve of mine when they say they've been separated 4 years and the secret baby is 4 years old. Hello, it takes 9 months to have a baby. They would only be 3! I see it all the time.
I loved that they were both celibate during the separation even though the H had a business arrangement marriage.
There were so things that weren't wrapped up very well. I'm hoping they will be in the following books.

Great hurt needs lots of patience and careful thoughtfulness. But love! Is sometimes all you need. Don’t let past mistakes and over thinking get in the way, sometimes you just have to trust. Great story and a little bit more than that but I enjoyed most of the book.
A second chance twist. Overall a good good story with lots of interesting characters. This could be the start of a long series. I loved McCrea. He is straight forward, honest, really cares for the less fortunate and strong enough to state unwelcome truths. Eleanor I had a harder time with. I felt she enjoyed holding on to her grudges and being wronged a little to much. Yes, she was scared but still... I was glad her friends were not afraid to speak truth to her.
Caroline McLaughlin did a good job narrating. Note: there were several areas the recording malfunctioned.
I recieved a free audio copy of this story in exchange for a honest review.
The Heartbreak Cowboy Coldiron Cowboys Series, Book 1 By: Mina Beckett
This is a sweet Texas romance that gives the listener suspense, and hope. McCrea Coldiron and Eleanor Mackenna were intimate only once, four years before. When she left home leaving him brokenhearted. Now she's back to sell her families ranch. They both have secrets. Will they find their way back to each other or will they go their separate ways again, and who else will be effected? I liked this audiobook and will keep a lookout for the next in the series.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Caroline McLaughlin brought the characters to life.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Overall excellent editing and a intriguing western romance. Just a little wishy-washy in spots but less so than many of this genre. Well described characters with reasonable back stories to make them believable. A few times I was fed up with how they handled the situations, however I have seen reality unfold worse. I kind of look forward to the next, simply for the continuation of these characters.
I really enjoyed this story. There was love laughter, heartbreAk and forgiveness. CharActers were strong and the story believable. I couldn't stop reading.
The Heartbreak Cowboy: Book 1 in the Coldiron Cowboy Series
Sometime life just isn't fair no matter how you slice it, and going back to Elinor's grandmother's house to sell the ranch is definitely the most painful thing that she has ever had to do. However, that house was filled with love, and she needed to find out about her past, in order to embrace the future. The big cowboy that had been her first crush was only making it harder because all he did was confuse her and mess with her mind and her heart.
It’s been four years since McCrea Coldiron broke Eleanor Mackenna’s heart. Now she’s back in town to sell her grandparents’ ranch, and a chance meeting reveals a connection that McCrea can’t ignore—a daughter he never knew about. The reasons for his estrangement from Eleanor are complicated, but he knows he can’t let her go a second time. With a hero trying to do the right thing and a heroine struggling to set her heartbreak aside, this story is hard to put down. Great secondary characters and a cute four-year-old round out this compelling novel. Even better … the heat level is in the sizzling range. Loved it!
This is one of the best western stories that I have read. It is filled with love, anger, drama & forgiveness. Each page was more exciting than the last. This book proves that true love with patience can heal a broken heart from last hurts and fears. Loved this boom.
New to this author..but can’t wait to read about the brother, Jess..loved all the characters in this book and the storyline was fantastic...it was so pleasant to read..every time I had to put it down, I couldn’t wait to get back to it. The book is so well though out and flows so nicely. If someone did wrong which caused another to be hurt, they certainly didn’t get away with it..I loved that about this book..very well developed ❤️❤️
Impressive! The story line is strong and the editing is great. I wish I had read The Cowboy's Goodnight Kiss before this story, but, unfortunately did not. Had some catching up to do with both the stories and the characters. Doable. I enjoyed the relationship between the H and his brother and how they could be savvy businessmen one minute and over grown teens the next. their parents were awesome!
The h was a complicated mess. It turned out that many of her long held beliefs were false and that they had colored both her perception of herself and love incorrectly. She almost missed her second chance at her desired HEA. It was a shame that her father did not reveal himself to her in her childhood as this would have been both a source of love and comfort and prevented her active imagination from filling in the gaps.
McCrea made a mistake 4 years ago. Eleanor has come back to town to sell her grandparents ranch. She loved McCrea years ago and he broke her heart. McCrea runs into Eleanor in Austin and finds out he is a father of a 4 year old. Can they start over? I enjoyed this book; it was well written and a good story line.
