Don't read this book if you are a parent. If you have children in scout, it will make you angry as I. If I could give the author 0 stars I would.
1. The teacher is ridiculous. How dare she send a email to a parent making them think the. Child was in trouble. 2. How dare the teacher presume he is a negligent parent. 3. “You must be Holden,” she greeted me, and I nodded. “Autumn?” I asked, and she glanced at Hunter. “Well, I prefer Miss Becks in this classroom most of the time. So she can call him by his first name and he can't? 4. Telling a child he was anti social and a outcast. Who the blank does she think she is? 5. Then she wants to see him outside the school?
That is as far as I got in this book. Oh heck no. This story crossed the line. I would have reported her immediately.
A veces ni yo misma se porque me sigo leyendo libros de este tipo, supongo que me llamo la atención la sinopsis y de alguna manera logre acabármelo. No es un gran libro pero si es entretenido.
If you read the synopsis of Right Under My Nose by Ali Parker you’d believe the story is about our heroine Autumn trying to find the perfect mate for our hero Holden while Holden comes to recognize that Autumn is his perfect mate. That’s true to a point but in reality before the book is even a third over both have realized they might be “The One” for each other and begin dating. So it’s not like the entire book is this comedy of Holden dating women Autumn has set him up with while he tries to woo her. There’s the problem of two people with busy careers and a child involved trying to find time to be with each other. There’s complications with an ex. Sort of just like real life dating for adults and adults with children in particular. I don’t know Ms. Parker’s background but I wouldn’t be shocked if she were a teacher. This book is in many ways a homage to elementary school teachers and all the dedication, effort and hours they put in to educating our children. I was really excited to read a new author after seeing all the 4 and 5 star reviews. Truth be told I found this story only okay. Maybe the biggest problem I had is my outdated sense of morals. I’ll explain. I get that Ms. Parker in our heroine Autumn was trying to create a young woman who was a prim and proper schoolmarm in the classroom and an uninhibited passionate young woman in the bedroom. But even for this very hetero-sexual male I think she went a tad too far in the uninhibited department. When Autumn exclusively uses the term fuck instead of make love it takes some of the romance out of the scene and makes it seem like its just sex for Autumn. **Spoiler Alert** she goes as far at the end of the story to describe what she and Holden had been doing before as fucking and admits to him that she’s never “Made Love” before. Well the author sure makes it sound like she’s had a whole lot of former lovers she’s been just fucking and sucking, not making love to. So even as she and Holden grow closer to each other she’s still seeing him as a “fuck buddy” to help her get off until almost the end of the story when they finally “make love?” And OMG when Autumn talks about how good she is at giving head, “It wasn’t exactly something I could stick on my resume`, but I had always known I was good at giving head.” or compares going down on Holden to all the other guys she’s gone down on, “So many of the guys I’d been with before.” I’m thinking how many guys has this woman given a blowjob too? I’m sorry but to this male when the author makes it sound like the number of guys she’s had in her mouth are in double digits and she hadn’t been in love with any of them, IMHO she moves from sexyville to slutty town. Please don’t accuse me of being sexist because if a male character was as sexually experienced as the author seems to make Autumn appear, and he hadn’t been in a real relationship or in love with any of his partners I’d call him a male whore. And what’s with her BFF Zoe? Maybe I’m just too old with an old fashioned sense of morality but she hooks up with some guy in Vegas she just met and spends the week banging him? At least Autumn took time to really know Holden before she fucked him. But maybe that was an anomaly for her too? Maybe her idea of dating had just been a series of one night hookups to get some sexual release? Or maybe I’m just too old and in today’s dating world it’s the norm for young women to have lots of casual sex without any real emotional involvement? Then there’s Autumn’s fairly frequent use of F-Bombs. Okay I say fuck occasionally too as do most of the people I know. It just seemed to me that Autumn wasn’t the kind of woman that would use that word so casually. In other words IMHO her language and her sexual behavior just seemed incongruous with the rest of her character. I didn’t expect her character to be virginal. I just didn’t expect her character to be quite so sexually experienced. In every other regard she seemed like the sort of young woman who would only have sex when she was in a committed relationship and when she talks about “all the other guys” she’s blown and her dissatisfaction with the dating pool I can’t believe it was all within the confines of a relationship. Something else that bothered me and it sort of ties into the above is it took our lovebirds the entire book to finally tell each other they loved one another. I mean really, you’re spending all this time together connecting both emotionally and physically, involving a child in your relationship and it’s too soon to say “I love you?” **Spoiler Alert** even at the end after the I love yous and telling Autumn what a great mom she’s been and will be for Hunter, Holden apparently feels its not time yet to propose to Autumn. I honestly just don’t get it. I would have liked the ending a whole lot more if he’d put a ring on it. There were other little incongruous things in this story that didn’t make sense to me. Autumn meets Holden at the mall to help him shop for a suit and have lunch together. Then she walks home alone. Wouldn’t a gentleman walk her home or offer to drive her? After their day on the yacht why didn’t Holden drive Autumn home instead of driving her back to his place to catch a cab home? And the guy owns a yacht and wanted to take her out on it for the day. Why did the author make it sound like he was just showing off how rich he was? It’s like rich shaming because he wanted to share his beautiful home and yacht with her as much as he wanted to impress her with his success. Holden talking about how if he sells his computer program to the schools how much money it will bring him to allow him to provide for Hunter’s future. You know the one he was going to give them for free because he loved Autumn so much and just wanted to make teacher’s lives easier. How much money can it take for a guy who already owns a yacht and a private jet to be financially secure and able to take care of his family? He’d already admitted to his best friend Raymond that he’d made enough money to take care of himself and Hunter for life. And why even when they’re deep into their relationship is Autumn still trying to split the dinner check with him when she earns a teacher’s salary and he’s a millionaire if not a billionaire? Autumn’s BFF Zoe and his friend Olivia set them up on their first blind date and while we are reminded how often they take credit for getting Holden and Autumn together, we never learn how Zoe and Olivia know each other? What’s with the breakfast over morning sex thing? Really, these two are so hot for each other and can barely find time or opportunity to get together but when the do they both decide breakfast is more important than a little morning nookie? Another scene, Autumn gets into Holden’s car with Hunter in the back seat. “How’s it going I asked, fighting the urge to lean over and give him a kiss to greet him hello. We weren’t quite there yet.” Say what? You’ve had sex with the guy twice, made out in your classroom but kissing him hello wasn’t on the table yet, and not just because Hunter was in the backseat? This even goes on late in the story when Autumn practically moves in with Holden and Hunter and yet they’re still sneaking kisses like teenagers afraid to get caught. I get you don’t’ swallow each other’s tonsils or feel each other up in front of the kid, but he knows you’re in a relationship. What’s wrong with a little modest PDA? Did Autumn or Holden have a family, parents or siblings Where were his parents while he was raising Hunter alone? And lastly, why the hell didn't Holden go out and get a restraining order against Karla from from the time she showed up on his doorstep? I liked the Holden character once he fell in love with Autumn and stopped being so anal. I liked Autumn for her caring heart and self-depreciating humor and she was hot even though her language and sexual history didn’t seem to fit the character. Hunter was a sweet little boy. I even liked Autumn’s snarky friend Zoe as well as Raymond and Olivia. But as I’ve catalogued above, I just had too many issues with this book to give it more than 2 stars.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book was boring and that was with the merciful benefit of skimming. Had a slow predictable plot. Too much internal dialogue. Ended with a cliffhanger suggesting the plot continues in the next book. I call BS!
Why? If not for Kindle Unlimited, I would not have bothered with the next book but I got it and quickly got irritated. This book is not what you expect of a continuation given the focus of the next book is on another couple.
This book started a little slow if you ask me. It was different to see a single dad raising his kid instead of a single mom. Hunter was one of the cutest kids and the way he got his name was so adorable as well. Autumn was such a great teacher and you could tell she really enjoyed her job. Holden was such a devoted father. I think I know whose door he is knocking on.............. cliffhangers drive me nuts (except when I have the rest of the series :)
Autumn meets Holden when she asks to talk about one of her pupils, his son, Hunter. Their relationship gets off to a rocky start as he has takes offence at the way she handles the meeting. With an absent mother, a fear of dating and a sweet nine year old to contend with, this is a slow romance. Sadly although I enjoyed the book, it wasn't just the romance that was slow. With repetition, low-level conflict and scenes that didn't progress the story, I can't help thinking it should have been cut by about a hundred pages.
Autumn and Holden form this amazing bond after they are both set up on this blind date. At first they don't like it because she is his son teacher. But they agreed to it. I love that they are starting just as friends even though they are fighting their feelings for one another. Can't wait to see what happens next! 💛
Too long and repetitive. This could’ve been cut down by at least half.
I struggled to get into it. There was very little chemistry. There were moments I thought the little bit of chemistry might build a little but nothing ever happened.
To prepare myself for this latest book by Ali Parker and Weston Parker, I locked the front door, made sure the children were entertained doing their homework, hubby was busy and sat down in a comfy seat to enjoy this story. I was drawn into the storyline straight away learning about Holden and his young son, Hunter. Hunter's baby mother left them a few days after giving birth and that's really for the best. Holden has proved himself to be an excellent dad and a great provider. He's an astute businessman and does his very best for Hunter, but he can be very lonely and hasn't been on a date in over ten years before Hunter was born. His best friend and his wife decide to set up a blind date for him and they think they have the perfect young woman for him. But when he arrives at the date he discovers that his date is Autumn, Hunter's class teacher who had already called him into school about Hunter's lack of social skills! Yikes! However, all is not lost and they do get along extremely well so they decide to help each other find dates for each other. Now how on earth could that possibly go wrong?? I just loved Autumn and Holden together as they were, indeed so perfect for each other. This story takes you along their journey to realise just how perfect they are for each other and how they go about finding out how the other feels. Expect some humour and plenty of romance and steam heat with these two fantastic characters. A very enjoyable story which is what I have come to expect from Ali and Weston as I've loved every one of their books that I have read [and that's virtually every one of their books that has been published in the UK] and I know that I will be re-reading this in the future as it is so much fun to read. I now wait impatiently for their next book to enjoy! I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. Most Definitely Recommended - get your copy now!
Single dad & self-made billionaire Holden realises that the one person he believed he could never like is probably the one person his puzzle of a life needs to be complete. When he finally slows down his busy life to satisfy a friend's wish, he never expected to be taking a second chance on love.
Autumn isn't looking for love; she's content as a teacher, going the extra mile for her students. When the parent of one of her students and her blind date turn out to be the same person, she wonders at her bad luck. When their relationship improves and deepens, and the past comes to knock, Autumn has to decide if their Holden & his son are truly enough for her.
Though it moved a bit too slow for my liking, Right Under My Nose is a good read, chock full of family-related themes, humor, love & friendship.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
This has an interesting opening with a wealthy single dad not liking what his child’s teacher has to say about his child; and he ends up on blind date with her. The focus then changes to the child’s absent/rejecting mother coming back into the picture and how poorly he has and continues to deal with that issue. All of this is amidst frequent and several pages long sex scenes which really didn’t move the story forward. I must admit, I had an issue with the concept of ‘grade curves’ (which means grading on the curve which can be different depending upon what you want the mid grade to earn as a grade. I am truly worried that teachers did not know how to set this up on an Excel chart) but, I looked it up and, sad to say, it is common across high schools and colleges. )
Holden was left with a new-born baby son when his wife left, after telling him he would never amount to much. It was not easy to build his business up from scratch while caring for a baby, but Holden adored his son and worked very hard, becoming very wealthy in the process. As Hunter reached 10 Holden started to feel as if something was missing. A blind date turned out to be very annoying initially, but took them all in a new very happy direction. I adored the story. The "f" word was unfortunately used very frequently, which spoilt it for me, as well as the lack of knowing the difference between love and lust.
Holden is a single father who had given up on love after his wife left him and signed away all of her custody rights to her son Hunter. It took Hunter's teacher to get him to come back to life and feel and their beginning was a rocky one. Meeting for a blind date helped to smooth things over and now the couple is on smooth sailing until the one woman he never thought he would see again tries to make headways back into Holden and Hunter's lives. Will she get what she wants, or will the guy's see right through what she is trying to do? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This is a most wonderful book. I love single father romances, and this is definitely one of the best that I have read. I also have to admit, that since I taught school for 30 years, Autumn, who was a teacher, and Hunter, Holden's 9 year old son, had a special place in my heart. This book was emotional at times, and was steamy hot at times, but throughout the book, it was a beautiful, outstanding, wonderful story that tugs at your heart, and keeps you pulled into it from beginning to end. I absolutely loved it, so I very highly recommend it.
I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were well developed and supported the story. I loved that insecurity and vulnerability can be presence in a man who has all that money can buy. Knowing that money cannot by everything. The writing is effortless and flowed easily. The lovemaking is off the charts making the reader experience the passion and caring in each loving act. Overall this book was enjoyable and compelling. You will not be disappointed by selecting this book.
Her books are always a good read. This was a light hearted romance. I would recommend this book. I don't know why I did not review this back in 2018 but I have made sure since this pandemic and even when I was reading the Casanova club, which I loved to make sure and review everyone's book I read. Ali is one of my favorite because she had me reading at least one book a month of hers with the Casanova Club and Piper and the Billionaires. Anyways Holden and Autumn and of course Hunter is a good read in Right Under My Nose.
I have to admit I have read so many books by this author and loved them however this one I found a bit boring and repetitive. To be far the book could have been completed in 200/230 pages instead of the 407 it has, the first half of the book was very repetitive and I found the business talk boring. However take that away and it was a nice lighthearted romance with no real trauma or drama. Holden & Autumn were a nice couple who found out they wanted each other quite early on in the book and I loved Hunter he was a cute kid.
I loved Holden and Autumn story!! I also can't forget little Hunter!! They makes such a wonderful couple. They had a bad first impression but when they were set up in a blind date they became friends only to realized they were more than just friends. Autumn also realized she loved little Hunter as her own!! They story just make you happy!! I would recommend this book to anyone!
I absolutely loved the start of the book...so non-traditional, kind of drew me in. Unfortunately , the story quickly became redundant. You could chop out half the book and not miss anything. It was so the point that I was skimming and skipping a large majority of the back half of the book as wasn’t missing anything. Very disappointed and not worth the waste of my time.
The book could have - and should have - ended before the 50% point. After that, it felt like the writer intentionally just dragged it out for word count...or something. After about 60%, I was bored with the whole thing, skimmed a bit more, then deleted it. A pity, because it was really quite enjoyable...to a point. Had it ended at that point, I would have rated it 5 stars. More isn’t always better. Sometimes, it’s just more. Such was the case here.
Two opposites and you could say most unlikely to be attracted to each other. Autumn so tuned in to what her students need, yet not all parents took her advice, suggestions as they were meant. Holden, was not impressed with her, felt she was just butting in. Read on, you will enjoy getting to know Holden, Hunter and even a newer side of Autumn. Beautiful, heartwarming story💖, loved it.
This story is one that I struggled to continue, but was glad I stuck with it. The protagonists were developed in a way that felt juvenile , especially in their communication with each other. I wanted to shake them into maturity! However, by the end, I finally understood the author's intent in creating this relationship. Would have given five stars without all the f-bombs!
Holden and Autumn didn't start off well at their first meeting, the second was touch and go for awhile. Then Autumn volunteered to find a woman for Holden to date. The only problem was that they both wanted to date each other but were both to scared to own up. Then when the finally get together Holdens ex turns up wanting custody of his son. A brilliantly written story with excellent characters and a happy ending guaranteed.
