100 books353 followersJeannette grew up in a large family, number ten out of eleven children, eight of them being older brothers. She quickly developed a great sense of humor, mostly from necessity. One of her greatest joys is sitting on the porch where they were all raised and hearing the stories from years gone by. Quietly laughing to herself, she notices how they embellish the stories more and more each year.
Storytelling was passed down from her grandfather and mother. Jeannette caught the bug at a very young age. If she didn’t have her head in a book, then she was off somewhere with a notebook, jotting down stories of what she would write if one day she became an author. Although the notebook may have vanished, the stories are still vivid and waiting for the right time to be told.
Despite having an amazing family, there have also been some sorrows in her life, including the loss of loved ones. Over the years, Jeannette has spent countless hours volunteering for different organizations and acting as a caregiver to those dearest to her. As a result, supporting the elderly became of utmost importance.
As she approached a milestone birthday in 2015, she decided to take her passion for writing and blend it with her desire to continue to help others. As she writes her stories, she hopes they touch someone’s life. Within the layers of the romance, the foundation remains throughout and is one that is dear to her; make a difference in someone’s life each day!
In 2016 she met someone who encouraged her to push herself even further and try her hand at spicy intrigue. One year later she has four books in this new series and each one pushing her limits just a bit further.
Like the wind, Jeannette’s life changed directions several times over the years, yet one constant remains: her desire to leave this Earth a little better than when she entered it as she tries to live by these words, Make your mark on the world today as your acts of kindness is all anyone will remember in years to come!

Enjoyable story
I really liked this first book in the Turchetta family series. The characters are strong and shared grief brings them together and helps them heal. Rafe needed to learn he could love someone and Deanna had to learn she could make a difference right where she was.

Great start to new series - mystery and trust
The Turchetta men all have a military background. Two years ago they lose their sister Phoebe in a death surrounded with mystery. Her BFF may hold all the answers surrounding the circumstances but trust is an issue to all parties involved.

I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys stories that are laugh out loud funny, steamy, suspenseful, and oh so romantic, with strong characters both male and female.

This is an intriguing story with depth. The plot would seem typical but it’s not, even though it’s premise is based on a former war hero (Rafe) now fighting in 3rd World nation for justice along side his brothers, ends up protecting his younger sister’s friend (Deanna) and loves follows. However, the author does a good job giving this story an original edge to it.
Rafe knows Deanna is keeping key details from him. He questions which side she really is on and if he will get the truth before it’s too late. Deanna is scared to trust anyone with the truth. She realizes Rafe and his family are a force and they work together to protect family and friends. Their loyalty to each other is strong and unbreakable. When they bring Deanna into their fold, she knows the truth must come out.
Strong characters, twists, and intrigue makes this a book worth reading.
Rafe knows Deanna is keeping key details from him. He questions which side she really is on and if he will get the truth before it’s too late. Deanna is scared to trust anyone with the truth. You often what soldiers might do when they leave the military. The Turchetta family all served, and Rage is the oldest of them. His team, consisting of his brothers and others are out there saving the world from unscrupulous rebels. Deanna and Rage are on a mission to right a wrong in their individual ways. Only when they meet, the emotions of love bring them together. This one has plenty of military plotting to keep you hanging on waiting for the suspense to end.

Loved it
I love this book there was so much depth and you wondered why the did target her and then when you find out that wasn't actually the her that they were tagged in but somebody else it brings a whole new light to maybe a decision in your life affecting somebody else's you don't think about that and right now with everything that's going on in the world it makes you think what decisions will affect other people but this was a really good book it was funny at times you wanted to knock his head in a little bit but I like that they got together

What a great read
What a great read from Jeannette. What Deanna and Rafe has lost and gone through tragedy of mass murder that takes the life of Rafe's sister Phoebe who’s also Deanna's best friend you don’t know how anyone can overcome but when Deanna can no longer sit and do nothing life becomes even more tragic when she goes looking for answers and crosses paths with Rafe accidentally, they can’t overcome until they start telling each other the truth about what happed when Phoebe was murdered only then can they find answers and each other.

Too quick and too short.
Now I can see why people complain about the Insta-love this was all just too rushed for my liking. I do believe in, if not love at first sight, then an instant connection that can very quickly turn to a long lasting love, but... This was not sufficiently expressed in this book for me and didn't feel completely believable. However it was enjoyable and even funny in places.

Sometimes you get justice.
Rafe is all about righting wrongs. His younger brothers and the rest of his team are too. Deanna feels guilty that she didn't die with the rest of her group. She goes back to the place where it all happened to see if she can figure out how it went so wrong. What she does not know is she's taking Rafe with her. He doesn't want her to lend up dead like his sister, who was Deanna's BFF, did. Really an intense story.

Couldn't put it down.
Great read for sure. Family 1st and and more. People are important, and those who live in 3rd world countries have it the hardest. Between revolutions, guerilla warfare, and poorly run countries, there are those who risk their lives to live in a dangerous environment to help others have a better life. The Truchetta family are no strangers to this environment. Sometimes, they find something unexpected, and sometimes, it turns out for the better; even after a tragedy.

Unexpected love
Rafe and Deanna's story was amazing.
My heart was on edge throughout this amazing story! You can feel what the characters are feeling and also learn what could possibly happen in the real world.

Great Start
Deanna us going back to where her BFF was killed to try and get her life back, before she leaves she runs into Rafe (who happens to be her BFF's brorher) - when he shows up later she's not really surprised but when she's hurt and he demands she go back to the states she's upset. Can they find a happy medium and work out their problems....

A great start to a new series
Rafe and Deanna's story is beautiful. Two people sharing their grief for the loss of someone close to them. Both strong willed and stubborn not willing to give up control for someone to help them along.
It's a sad story with a great ending. You learn that a difference can be made from wherever you are as long as you have the desire and motivation to do so.
Can't wait for the next book on the series.

Exciting, sad and romance.
When you have three superhuman wants and needs in one book you need to give a 5***** rating. This story had me on the. edge of my seat all the. way through . I love a mix of emotions in a book no plain sailing here. Thank you Jeannette Winters you gave me all of that in this book. I recommend this book to War /Romance fans 😅

Excellent story
Grabbed me from page 1 and held on tight to the last page. Rafe is all I want in a strong man and Deanna is his perfect foil. Filled with intrigue and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat many times. Well written with terrific supporting characters whose own stories will follow, well worth recommending. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Stars all the way!

An intriguing book. The reader knows right away there is a secret, a cover up. But it doesn’t really reveal itself until later in the book. The story became more interesting as it went along keeping the reader guessing as to the exact plot. It’s an enjoyable read. Don’t miss it

Great kickoff to the next w series
A good book to start the series. I loved the overlap with the Hendersons. Deanna was the perfect foil to Rafe's gruff personality. Looking forward to book 2.

A bit too quick of a read, but still a good book.
I'd like to have seen a little more development for Rafe and Deanna, but this was still an intriguing read. Tropical locations, aid camps, personal vendettas, this kept me reading for hours on end until I finished the book.

She takes a different name, her goal to do charity work, where needed. Things change when Rafe and Deanna meet, he wants her to face, and speak the truth. He is still fighting for the injustice done. Together the beginning of love story, and maybe truth will be known. also.

Unanswered question and fear were never resolved for Deanna. ”If they knew to nothing” in reference to the Turchetta family. Sex scene was unnecessary and out of place. Fairly unrealistic. Otherwise well written.

Has it all
Action, suspense, and romance...Loved it. Although I haven't read the Barringtons I had no problem following this story. At first I was concerned it was going to be too political, but it had a definite personal slant that kept my interest.

Jeannette Winters' writing style pulls you into a whirlwind that you just have to keep on reading to stay afoot. I really loved the intern on romance building throughout the story.

I had a hard time getting into the beginning of this book. However once I got into it I enjoyed it I wasn't quite sure how things used e going and had a hard time putting the book down.

Amazing and heartbreaking!!!

Typical, but still....
I love a good romance every now and then. This is a good one, with the brawny ex military hunk and the sweet, good person trying to move past a terrible tragedy. Heartwarming.

I enjoyed this book so much. I loved Rafe. The writing was so good it pulls you in and at times you feel as though you are right there. Even though it was the beginning of a series it was not a "cliffhanger". I hate cliffhangers. I will be reading the rest of this series!

I enjoyed reading this book with its fast moving plot and interesting characters but I took one star off for the excessive use of profanity in the storytelling . It took away my focus from enjoying the book .
