Lovely illustrations; I esp. appreciate that the grandma is mature but not elderly and neither plump nor frail. It's hard to view the images of the siblings wrassling, but most families have that happen, and it's a relatively normal part of growing up if the parents don't make too big a fuss about it.
So, if you were a young child, what would you measure in minutes and seconds? Would you feel compelled to race against time?
This is a short, but entertaining book that helps to teach children about the concept of seconds and minutes. While it's not specifically an educational book, children will see that some activities take longer than others and that tracking how long something takes can be fun.
The narrative is very simple and the illustrations are old-fashioned and colorful. I read this book in the waiting room of our daughter's dentist while she had an appointment and it was a fun, fast read.
