Otto and his friends are back in this Pre-Level 1 Ready-to-Read by New York Times bestselling author/illustrator, David Milgrim. Look Out! A Storm! is part of the award-winning, star-reviewed The Adventures of Otto series.
Look out, Otto and Olly! Look out, Flip and Flop! With a storm heading their way Otto and his friends must go, go, go.
This Pre-Level 1 Ready-to-Read with bright illustrations and minimal text is perfect for the true emergent reader.
Olly is in a bad mood, but Otto does not know. He says a big, loud "Hi!" Otto finds out real quick Olly's mood. They run into Flip and Flop sending the painting supplies and canvas flying through the air. Now Flip and Flop are in a bad mood. But look out! A storm!
A cute reader with large bright pictures and minimal words. Early readers will delight in this Pre-Level One Rising Star Reader. This is shared reading with familiar characters and simple words.
Cute little story for very beginner readers. It's funny and doesn't have a heavy "message," just a silly story for kids to laugh at. I could see this being a hit with little boys in particular.
Otto accidentally annoys Olly who is already in a bad mood. They barge through Flip and Flop's afternoon putting them in a bad mood too! Bad moods are contagious! But so are good moods. When a storm forms over them, Olly rushes to rescue his friends and the experience jolts them back out of their funk.
A misunderstanding, a grumpy rhino, and an epic chase come to a head when a storm rolls in.
Milgrim is able to do something with little leveled readers that few others can do. Create an entertaining and engaging plot in just a few pages. This is by turns humorous and touching. And the text is very simple, approachable to very early readers. Highly recommended.
Sometimes managing a bad mood can be difficult, and when one unfortunate misunderstanding snowballs, soon everyone is angry. Otto, a friendly little robot, doesn't realize that Olly is in a bad mood. When he startles her and makes her angry, soon the chase is on. But when a storm comes unexpectedly, Olly and Otto and their friends realize that it's time to put away the negativity and help each other out. With easy-to-read text for beginning readers and awesome illustrations, this book might be a good way to talk about how to help our friends when they're in bad moods.
Moooooooooooooooooooooo. Chick-a-licka-licka. To the story! I like that Olly got in a better mood at the end of the book and that he forgave Otto. And I like that everybody got calm again and stopped being in a bad mood. That is all. Goodbye! Moooo.

Love the humor and the art. The text reminds me a little of the Dick and Jane readers from years ago but the story and art make the Otto stories a delightful way to develop reading skills.
Nice, simple book about feelings. I would love to read this to pre-schoolers to see if they would make the connection to the storm coming and going to Olly's emotions.
