Really cool and overall extremely useful techiniques and applied concepts to get your data wrangling skills to the next level. The book covers many uses cases with guided examples that will prove useful on you power query journey.
I would've liked if the book spended a little more time on the comprehension of the M languages (which if you can learn to use it, it's EXTREMELY useful, however, not many resources are around, especially for advanced uses cases).
The chapters on text analytics and social media analysis were cool as well. Might get around trying some social media insights soon :).

It is the best book about power query and M language I read. It describes the methods of modification UI queries to get the desired result, using custom functions and advansed M functions. But the last 25% of the book is devoted to the text analysis which is not relevant for me. So 4 stars

Great book to advance your M knowledge

I found the applied practice approach very informative. M is a very powerful language and Gil makes it very accessible. He takes a building block approach where sections build upon previous sections. I was amazed at examples that use the generic methods to clean data. This book will remain as a reference guide for me for many years.

Compared to “ M is for Data Monkey” this book is not good. It’s poorly organised and author has messed up the required flow of information. Although author’s knowledge is impressive however it have less value to learners.
I hope the next edition accounts for these concerns.

Much of the book requires the user to follow all the steps to complete the exercises and understand how Power Query is transforming the data. There are a few chapters providing general information, such as explaining M formulas and common pitfalls.

The only book from Microsoft Press devoting to Power Query, as far as I know.
It has a lot of examples that are readily applicable to real problems in data analysis.
