Sarah Kuhns is a nanny of four children in the Amish community of Harmony Creek. If the children aren't keeping Sarah immensely busy, she has her two pushy brothers to deal with. What Sarah actually wants to do is to become and EMT. When she meets Toby Christner, who was injured, her attention is definitely diverted. Toby is staying at the home where Sarah works while he is healing. They develop a liking for one another, and it was a delight to see their relationship form.

This very sweet story is the second in this wonderful series by Jo Ann Brown. I enjoyed the strong sense of both faith and family in this read. Quite naturally, the children were a delight. As this story was set during the holidays, it was all the more sweeter.

The element of forgiveness is raised in The Amish Christmas Cowboy, and it was done very well. Forgiveness, when combined with love, is a wonderful gift. I adored this story and have read the first and the third before penning this review. So far I am loving my time in this small Amish community. Jo Ann Brown is indeed a very effective writer.

The other books in the series are The Amish Suitor, The Amish Bachelor's Baby and the upcoming The Amish Widower's Twins.

Did I ever expect to be reading gentle Amish themed romances? No. Did I enjoy this greatly anyway? Yes. Do I have a crush on Toby the wholesome Amish horse guy? Yes of course I do, who do you think I am

A cowboy for Christmas? Yes please! Even though it's July. Toby can rustle up a happily every after any time of the year as far as I'm concerned. :-) He's such an interesting Amish hero -- reluctant and wounded and living Amish in the Englisch world. He's used to keeping himself apart but when a work-related injury forces him to stay put for two months, his practiced reserve slowly crumbles. Thanks to Nanny Sarah's unorthodox bedside manner and her mischievous charges. So many wonderful, heartwarming moments in this story. And laugh-out-loud funny ones. A charming light-on-Christmas sweet romance.

I listened to the audible version of this book partly because Susan Boyce is the narrator and her delivery is spot-on when it comes to Jo Ann Brown's storytelling style. A great pairing -- and I see that they've partnered for the whole series. Eeep!

So, yes, this is the second book in the Amish Spinster Club series but they can all be read as a standalone. I read the third book first and then this one and I had no issues connecting with either story. Love that the series is based on four single friends who have formed a tongue-in-cheek spinster club in a new Amish settlement.

Very good book. Sweet, Christian read. Does NOT constantly focus on God, adds Him just right.

Toby shows up to help deliver some horses, but gets hurt by one. He must stay to recover. Sarah is the Amish nanny to four "forgotten" children. The parents are rich & busy, the kids just want their parents. Sarah is unhappy with where her life is going, her brothers are too controlling. Toby grew us as basically an Amish nomad, therefore he's afraid to get connected to people and put down roots.

It's a quick read, but the characters are well developed. I did not know this was book 2 in a series, you won't need to read the first to understand everything going on.

Borrowed from library: ILL

This was such a good series. You don't have to read them in any order because I didn't. It's a book of you know that they will fall in love, you aren't so sure when and how. Nanny Sarah has her hands full of kids, but she is taking time to help Toby, a traveling horseman who gets hurt. When and how will they tell each other their real feelings?

A sweet romance, you'll fall in love with Toby and find yourself wanting to see him healed. You'll also enjoy Sarah and the "kinder" as they navigate life.

Sarah is the Amish nanny to four English children whose parents give them everything except time together. The father is busy with his racing horses, and the mother is off to Europe. The kids are starved for hands-on time with someone who cares about them, and Sarah fills that need. But Sarah has a need of her own - to be trained as an EMT, something her brothers won’t allow. When a handsome horse trainer gets injured on the ranch, Sarah is enlisted to help him with his rehab for his badly sprained ankle. Since he was raised Amish, they have a bond of friendship that may blossom into something more. There are obstacles that seem to impede the road to happiness for everyone, but Sarah puts her trust in God that all things will work out for the good for those love Him. The story is well written and the characters are engaging. The elements of romance, intrigue, problem-solving, hope, assertiveness, and forgiveness are well balanced in the plot. It may be a quick read, but this entertaining story still has substance.

Please, dear heavenly Father, MAKE. IT. STOP!!!

I can't even, anymore. I'm not sure the authors of the 'Love Inspired' even have brains, at this point. How can *ANYONE* read this nonsense and not throw it at a wall???? Because it is TRULY that bad.

Sarah is an Amish nanny for Englisch rich kids (aka hellions). She lives with her bachelor brothers who are apparently up to 10 years older than her, and she's pushing 30. ((Which means 'Please ignore the 12-year old on the cover, btw.)) AMISH PEOPLE DON'T DO THE INDEPENDENT SINGLE THING - it's not in their ordnung, hello! The fact that she's a 'spinster' and there are enough spinsters to form a club in addition to the unmarried men? This isn't how it works amongst the Plain people. It's not how ANY of it works!

Anyhow, Sarah's boss buys some horses from Texas and has them sent to New York State, and of ALL THE COINCIDENCES, one of the good ol' boys bringin' the new stock in happens to be Amish. ???? Really? Except he's NOT Amish, because his parents were gypsy Amish, or vagabond Amish (take your pick), and he shuns Amish communities. Yeah, have fun with that.

As for Sarah, we're told that she's shorter than the NINE YEAR OLD boy she's watching. I have had four sons who've all grown to be over six foot tall (one is 6'5). I assure you, they aren't over five foot at nine years old. My 13yo is *just* 5'2, and he's only just started his growth spurt. That happens usually 13-14, and there's even a name for it: ADOLESCENCE. A nine year old is NOT in his growth spurt, hello.

Which means if she's two inches shorter than the NINE year old, she's 4'11, tops.

But then we're told she's TALLER than both of her best friends. So... her friends are dwarves, then? Is that what's going on? Because this is all seriously preposterous.

Back to the horse delivery. A cat spooks one of the horses, that somehow tromps on his ANKLE (not his foot, his ANKLE - how does that even work?!?!?)... and it swells up like an eggplant... so CALL 9-1-1!! Because they totally love it when you call them for something that's 1) not life-threatening, and 2) that you can drive to the nearest clinic, yourself.

How. About. NO!!??!!

Toby (said non-Amish Texan) is a grown man, but apparently can't ride in an ambulance without someone to hold his l'il patty, so they send Amish chick to the hospital with him. Where she gets his meds for him and he's too loopy from drugs to push a wheelchair, hear her conversation, or remember his own name. OVER A SPRAINED ANKLE. Does *ANY* of this jive?!

Next morning, he wakes up and doesn't know where he is, doesn't remember what happened... ouch, ankle... and then the door opens to his room and in comes the cheery guy who's going to do physical therapy on him.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, you don't rehabilitate something injured!! It has to *H.E.A.L*, first, for the love of all that's holy! But noooo, we have the PT using bands to support Toby's weight to even get him out of bed, because he "hasn't been out of a sitting position for so long". FOURTEEN HOURS is so long, SERIOUSLY?!?! Because he's been injured half a dadgum day, hello. And he's atrophied to the point where he can't stand, at this point?

Is this author out of her mind? I'm asking, seriously.
Because this is so nonsensical and ridiculous...
I AM BURNING THIS BOOK.
DNF @ pg 66.

I would be embarrassed to pass this drivel on to another person. It's absolutely STUPID beyond belief. Please, PLEASE... Harlequin: find W.R.I.T.E.R.S to publish. The public is begging you. I don't want this kind of idiocy in my home. Not even purchased for 25¢ at a yard sale.

The Amish Christmas Cowboy is the second book written by Jo Ann Brown in her Amish Spinster Club series. The storyline is simply amazing and I enjoyed how it played out.

The characters are very likeable and realistic and had great personalities. I really enjoyed nanny Sarah Kuhns. She is spunky, intelligent, and independent. It takes a special personto care for unruly kids and then to throw an injured Amish man into the mix can be a recipe for disaster. Sarah rises to the occasion and shows her over protective brothers that she has what it takes to be an EMT. When injured Toby enters the picture he definetly makes things awkward and hectic for her. I also enjoyed the antics of the love starved children. This story teaches a great lesson about patience.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others. It is a nice change of pace from the normal Amish story.

Congratulations to Jo Ann Brown for writing another fantastic story for her readers to enjoy. I look forward to more amazing stories from this author in the future.

The Amish Christmas Cowboy by Jo Ann Brown. Amish Sarah Kuhns is a nanny to four English children. Who misbehave to get their parents attention. She wants to take EMT classes but her brothers don't think a Amish woman should be doing that kind of work. The family Sarah works for own a horse ranch. Three guys deliver three horses and Toby Christner one of the guys hurts his ankle. Toby stays at the ranch to hear. He also is Amish but going the English ways. The two end up liking each other. A very good read.

Sarah is an Amish woman who is a Nanny to the Summerhays children. These children are a handful because all they want is attention. They have been through many Nannies before Sarah. She is constantly on her toes with these four. Sarah is an Amish girl whose brothers don't want her spending so much time with the English.

Mr Summerhay's is buying new horses and one of the three men helping deliver them gets hurt and has to stay on the ranch to recuperate. It's also Sarah's job now to help him get better.

Really enjoyed the book and think you will too.

The Amish Christmas Cowboy

A really fun story. Toby is helping delivering horses to the ranch where Sarah is a nanny. He ends having to stay there a few weeks after spraining his ankle. I loved Sarah, she was so good with the children but thought their parents should pay more attention to them. This is my first book by Jo Ann Brown, I enjoyed her writing a lot. It is always fun with children in a book.

I thought it was interesting to have the main character being an Amish woman working for an american family. I thought that it was interesting that her and Toby were matched up in this story, and I am glad that it all worked out in the end for them!

I’m not much of a romance person, I’ve always been more into horror/thrillers. This is my first romance book I’ve read all the way through. Is it my favorite? No. Did I enjoy it much more that I expected? Absolutely.

Better than I expected, and the author is well-versed in Amish/Englischer relations and the stress placed upon young workers who traverse both worlds. This title included gentle, Amish-novel humor poking through, which indicates author Brown knows her market and her audience.

I appreciated some very subtle parallels to Jane Austen's novels in how behavior is expected of both Amish men and young women. Realistic scenarios weigh heavily, but treading carefully and observing the maturation of the Sunday caller pays its dividends. For a subset of Harlequin Romance, Amish Christmas Cowboy exceeds expectations and keeps things amusing for the characters and the reader.
