LUKE I have two mortal enemies - Max Stephens and whoever decided opposites should attract.
He’s everything I despise. Perfect looks, easy charm. The world falls at his feet the second he flashes a smile. We started our jobs at the same time, but we’re up for the same promotion even though I stay all night while he leaves at five.
I’m pretty sure I’m in love with him.
I can’t explain it, other than possible brain damage. He’s everything I’m not. Everything I wish I could be. If I hadn’t lost my parents so young. If my whole life wasn’t about making my grandparents proud. If I still hadn’t come out for fear of losing them.
At least that keeps me from embarrassing myself with Max.
But then life throws a curve-ball. Close confinement with my archenemy. Days on the road together for work. Forced to get to know him. Learn we’re not so different, that the person beneath his charm is even hotter, because it has actual substance. Depth. Hopes. Dreams.
Suddenly my crush isn’t so bizarre. A future with him isn’t just a fantasy.
I could have the guy of my dreams…but only if I risk losing my last real family…
MAX Everyone thinks my life’s so perfect, but if that’s true, why does my office crush hate my guts? Answer me that!
It’s not like I dream of a white picket fence and a dog with the guy. Much. I don’t even know if he’s gay. Every attempted interaction earns me a death glare, and I have no idea why.
Then we’re crammed in a car driving cross country. I get all the answers I ever wanted, and no idea what to do with them.
Luke is gay. He doesn’t really hate me. He likes me, maybe even more than likes me.
Maybe a lot more, judging by the way he kisses me.
But he’s still in the closet. Even he doesn’t know if he’ll ever leave it.
And he might not hate me now, but that could change the second he learns he wasn’t totally wrong about me having advantages he doesn’t.
After all, the boss deciding which of us to promote is my uncle…
This 50,000 word office feud turned road trip romance has some sexy pit stops on the way to its HEA, so be eighteen and over before you buckle up!

This was a good read. Luke and Max have known each other for quite some time. They always seemed to act like they hatred each other. However, after a road trip together they realize that they actually like each other and more than just friends. The drama though is that Luke hasn't come out yet. Thankfully by the end he does and everyone is happy.
This is very "fanfic" plot xD A light novel about two enemy coworkers that need to go in a roadtrip together.... Is not bad, the misunderstanding could definitely be better! But nice comfort reading!
Yeah so I listened to this last week, and then started it again this morning, and you know what... I just could not be bothered.
I didn't like Max. At all.
Luke was a prat as well.
The plot was absurd.
Luke would have never been reporting Max to the Owner of the company for being late. He would have reported him to their manager. Or to HR. Not directly to the top.
Max had a work cellphone, but suddenly it was all one phone?
So much wrong with Max, made me want to punch him. Really don't give a shit if his boyfriend died in a car accident because he was a bad driver. He was just an ass.
I'm done. I've got better things to read. And pretty much I'm giving up with this author. I have literally not been able to get through a single book he's written so far. Nope, I'm done.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is an enemies to lovers story about Luke and Max, who met in college and now work at the same company. Luke is very serious and works hard for everything and he hates Max. Max is a carefree guy who just takes life as it comes. Luke hates that Max is so carefree and Max uses every opportunity to needle Luke and get him angry. When their boss tells them both they have to deliver a package across country and there could be a promotion for them, they agree to drive the package. When Max picks Luke up the next day, he refuses to let Luke drive and they fight through the first part of their journey. Max has reasons as to why he won't let Luke drive and Luke thinks it is something else. max is attracted to Luke, but thinks it is more fun to get him angry. When Luke gets angry one night he kisses Max, and Max is very confused as to why. Luke hates that he is attracted to Max and he is scared to come out to his grandparents. Max and Luke have a lot to deal with on this trip like their competing for the promotion and their attractions to each other. I really liked this story. I loved Max and thought he really was a good guy who really wanted to be happy, he was so hurt in the past, he didn't know how to move on. I liked Luke and i think he had to admit who he was and why he was so serious about everything. Another great one from Peter.
Honestly, there are so many romance books that follow a formula where all roads lead to happy ever after eventually and to me this book started out that way, but I seriously fell in love with it quickly and realized that this was definitely not a sleeper to be missed.
Enemies to lovers is totally my bag. This book had it in spades. Max and Luke work for the same company, in the same department, under the same boss, in the same quad of cubicles. It's no surprise to their coworkers when they both make snarky remarks under their breath. But when they are given the mission to deliver an incredibly delicate package to a client in LA together for a chance at a promotion, things get a little heated. In every sense.
If Max were a real person, I'm pretty sure he'd be my bestie. He was so funny and sarcastic and let his heart rule his actions.
Luke was the high maintenance goofball who was worried about pleasing everyone, but still made time to enjoy the now.
They were awesome together. The chemistry was all there. It was just a really fun, quick read that left me with a smile.

It became clear as the plot unfolded, that if you put two guys in a close confined space, their true feelings about each other will come out!
Max and Luke, college rivals, are sent on a road trip from Seattle to Los Angeles to deliver a mysterious package, believing that a promotion is tied to its safely arrival..
Along the way, misconceptions are cleared up and their attraction for each other is unleashed!
A little car trouble helps too!
If you love romance mixed with angst, drive throughs and motels, you'll really enjoy this book!

Max and Luke hated each other...or well Luke hated Max...or at least he kept telling himself. Two men who have known each other since college and now working for the same company...getting in each others way. Luke throwing angry words and Max laughing at him. What's a boss to do especially when one of the men is a loved nephew. Send them on a road trip and let the chips fall where they may. Many cups of coffee, ignored horoscopes, motels, angry words, kisses, hot sex, and growing love, two men return. Are they changed? Did it work? You'll have to read the book like I did and having a ton of enjoyment while you do it is the only way to find out. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
Max and Luke are work enemies, that have been in each others lives since college. They ended up at the same company and even on the same floor. This is a journey of two individuals who's lives are completely different, yet closely similar. Can they become more to each othe on their extremely long work trip is the question? Or are they going to kill each other along the way. This is yet another brilliant novel bynthe tallented Peter Styles, his writing is just beautiful to read, the journey he tales you on is always mesmerizing. Truly a book not to miss, be sure to grab it asap.

This is a sweet book about comming out, hurt, missunderstanding and seeing the best in each other. Luke’s in the closet and «hate» Max, he’s jealous of Max and think he’s carefree and get everything easy in life. He is proven wrong on their buissenes trip, he sees another side of Max and falls in love. Luke struggle with comming out to his grandparents. Max think Luke is to proper, and likes to poke him to get reactions from him. During the trip Max falls in love but steuggle with the fact that Luke doesnt wanna come out, they solve their issues and realise that they love each other and work though their issues.
Rivals thrown together professionally to pull off a big job, Max and Luke discover that things are not always as it seems... including each other. And it sometimes can be so much better.
These two men are good characters with a good story. It's entertaining and keeps your interest. They go from not really liking each other personally to wanting each other to so much more. Love these kinds of stories and Peter Styles tell it so well in Road to Romance.
I received this book as an advanced reader's copy and voluntarily am leaving my honest review and recommendation.
Max is that sterotypical rich boy you just WANT to hate, because who is more entitled, more priveledged, more I will screw with the universe and ignore you?
The problem for Luke is, he would really rather Max screwed him - if only he admitted to anyone he is gay - even himself.
Can a road trip to LA bring these to to find themselves, and each other, or can little omissions like - hey my uncle owns the company,
A growing into your best self crazy romance.

Road to Romance was sweet and totally adorable. Max and Luke are coworkers, and friendamies, they seem to constantly be vying for the same positions at work. When their boss sends them on a road trip to California to deliver important documents their true feelings come out. The storyline is sweet and funny with lots of angst and crazy astrological references. The characters are entertaining and interesting while the plot moves along and a steady pace.

One of Styles' better novels, if not the best! The author has always had the ability to create three-dimensional characters that hold out interest, and his plots (even when the outcome is predictable) are a joy to read. For a time, the author wrote in the present tense and I hated those novels, as it was a distracting gimmick and, by telling the story from one perspective, cheated us of his talent to create multiple individual characters. Road to Romance is back on track. It's a keeper, and I'm storing it on my kindle to read again and again.
It was really cute in the non-boring way, and sexy, AND surprisingly thorough-feeling even though it's short. I enjoyed it even with the very confusing parts near the end (um...there was a whole skipped conversation in here, guys. Hello?) To be fair, they kinda, sorta talked about it...offhanded as it felt.
It felt like I was reading a different book by mistake for a bit because of their interactions (boyfriend...? What? When?! What about that thing that you have yet to address, and that other thing?) They confused the crap outta me, but things were quickly resolved so whatever.
Max and Luke have been rival's since college they work in the same firm. They still rub each other wrong and talk a lot to their friends about how much the other one annoys them. They are sent on a road trip to L. A. To deliver a package, making them spend 5 days traveling together. Take this trip with them, you'look fellas if your there and you will not want to miss a moment of their journey.

What a wonderful story of discovery, connection,a few laughs and a HEA. Max and Luke attended college together and end up working in the same office after graduation. They are very competitive with each other. Max is gay. Luke has denied his sexuality for years, but is forced to face it when he and Max have to travel for business. Loved this book !

It's always fun to watch two people who "think" they know each other and "seem" to be complete opposites forced together into close quarters where they find out they don't know as much as they thought and they may not be so different. Besides the competition between the two men, the story also includes issues of not being "out" and family dynamics. This is a fun, sweet story with great, likable characters.

This was a fun enemies-turned-lovers type book that mainly was based during a road trip the two were forced on. It was cute, hot and gives the reader the warm and fuzzies when it all works out in the end. There were a few groan-type-moments when the all-powerful boss of the company meddles into their lives (unbeknownst to them), but not for nefarious reasons- no, to help them fall in love. Okay, sure, but I still like it anyways. I will likely REREAD it at another date.
Sometimes you are lucky enough to read a really great story that touches your soul. This is one of them for me. I laughed , cried, was sad and then so very happy. Reaching deep inside to the person you are and showing them to the world is a big leap of faith. I love, love, loved this story.

They work at the same place but they have very different backgounds. They seem to hate each other but beneath it all they feel love. Now they are up for the same promotion. The boss is his uncle so how will that affect them. He has not admitted he is gay. See what will happen

Love this funny and romantic comedy. What I really loved about this book was the unknown....I was never clear how the story would unfold, but each step of the way was Awesome! I can't say anymore without spoiling it. Pick this one up it's really good.

This was a very enjoyable listen. There were a few times when I was confused about the timeline but overall a cute and easy listen. This is a new to me narrator and I thought he did an excellent job, only a few times the sound had a bit of an echo but nothing that would make me stop listening.

Such a fun "enemies" to love romance. I laughed out loud when they pushed each other's buttons...even in the end they didn't lose their snark and banter. HEA ending was awesome. Just such a great couple....you can picture them growing old together. Love!
This was a cute enemies to friends story! The main characters were well written and their stories believable! Loved their connection and how they came together! All in all a good book that I finished in a few hours as I couldn’t put it down! :)
Uh, FUN! And hot AF ^^ It was a perfect read. Max and Luke are adorable and I want to be friends with them and I don't even like ppl but can't help it. The banter, the quick wits... They are fun!
Aw this book was so sweet! I love how the uncle basically set them up! I love how Max and Luke grew closer and opened up and began to understand each other’s feelings! This story made me so happy and I cried at a few parts too! Such a great story!
