This inspirational biography tells the story of Mel Trotter, a broken man who was rescued by Christ and eventually established a chain of missions--more than sixty-seven in all--from Boston to San Francisco.
I read a different book with the same title. the one I read was by Ruth Ann Stelfox about Akin, a man from Nigeria who served with CAM during the civil war in Liberia.
I picked this book off from my church library shelf, and thought I should read about Mel Trotter as I walk past the mission often. This book has a rich history account of the "man" Mel Trotter, and also reveals why this ministry is still in need today, the first and most important information is that this man cared for the needy, needy in their soul and resources to live. I really enjoyed this book, many times my heart stopped and asked myself if I can love the homeless that I see and encounter everyday in the neighborhood where I live...after I read this I was motivated to look at the needy and see them thru the eyes of Jesus. I then contacted Mel Trotter Missions and took a tour and plan to give of my time and love that God has for me, there is no excuse to not be the hands of Jesus to those around me, a must read for all families and teens.
