When his father announces that he’s going to a reaper conference with three of his siblings, Braden is disappointed to miss out on the trip but excited about being the boss. That is until he finds out which sibling is staying behind with him.
Braden and his only sister Aisling have never gotten along. Still, Braden has seniority. Aisling has to do what he says. Of course, Aisling has other ideas.
Grimlock Manor is rocking with arguments (and maybe a few petty games) when someone breaks into the house. Aisling insists on staying at the family mansion because she’s got party plans. Those go out the window when the security system keeps going off.
Braden thought he would be a man about town but he’s a man stuck at home… and trying to figure out a mystery.
Who is going after his family? And will Aisling ever shut her mouth long enough to help him figure it out?
Come along for the ride. Things are about to get loud.
This is a 30,000-word short set in the Aisling Grimlock world. It’s set back and can be read at any point in the timeline.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
4 Stars... This was a fun short in the Aisling Grimlock Series... Focusing on the relationship between Braeden and Aisling as they navigate running the Reaper business while the rest of the family is out of town, what could possibly go wrong??? Break-ins and kidnappings to start, not to mention all the snark and the lack of sprinkles and ice cream... It is another rollicking adventure with the Grimlock clan:)
Braden and Aisling left alone in the house while their father and brothers leave for a conference in vegas. What could possibly go wrong? It was hilarious and so amusing. Love Aisling and Braden interactions. This book was from Braden perspective. It was interesting to see what he thinks about his sister and the world in general. I absolutely adore the Grimlock family. They literally make me laugh out loud throughout. Can't wait for the next book involving the grimlock family.
I've read all the Grimlock books and shorts. This one got off to a slow start though. Seems Aisling was being more of a brat than an adult at the beginning after being left with Braeden to run the reaper business. Dad & brothers go to Vegas for a conference so the quarreling sublimely behind can't agree on anything. I just found the beginning of the short shiny on Aisling's part. But the story got better. Braeden starts to see that his 'women should be subservient ' belief may not be right when Griffin explains his relationship with Aisling is a partnership. I would like to see that development continue. While I'm a big fan of sibling snark, this story was a bit more shine than snark. Don't let that stop you from reading it though..
When I began this story and read where Braden was going to be left alone (not including Griffin or Jerry, although the latter doesn't really have a big appearance) to fend for themselves, I was not sure how it would end. I felt that Cormack and sons would come home to be minus either a son/brother or daughter/sister and that would not have bode well. What I found was that even though Braden and Aisling bother each other the most out of the Grimlock offspring, they know how to work together when the time calls for. Braden's bickering throughout did get a bit annoying and grating at times, but in the end, this is another great read written by Amanda M. Lee.
And extraordinarily funny and entertaining supernatural urban fantasy/action series. A family of grim reaper‘s in the Detroit area go about their daily chores of reaping souls of the recently deceased. Follow the adventures as there is always something going on in and around this family. A great cast of characters and as always extraordinarily snarky and entertaining. Checked all of the books out
Loved the Grimlock family shorts. This one clicked the others, is funny and sweet. This crew finds themselves in the oddest scenarios. On this story, the Grimlock crew have a mandatory convention in Vegas. 2 have to stay behind. Aisling volunteers and Braden literally draws the short straw and the 2nd. Of course these 2 don't see eye to eye and the fin ensues.
Any of this series is filled with mystery, murder , laughter and family love and chaos. Th were is not one book that doesn't deserve a five or better. The characters are crisp, magic, dark, light and totally believable. The gridlock family makes you actually think that reapers could be fun not just dangerous. Read any series by Ms. Lee she never disappoints. Go read
Cute read with some poignant parts, like David, and seeing Braden's point of view of his mother. I really enjoyed it and will miss the Grimlock family. I realize they will be in the new series but it won't quite be the same. I do love the books this author writes though so I'm sure I'll be satisfied in my reading.
I’m starting to really like Braden! This story was all about Aisling and Braden working together. This takes place before Grim Vows and gives us a peek into his thoughts and emotions regarding their “mom” Lily.
Braden and Aisling home alone together, that could be a huge disaster even with Griffin standing between them but through some classic Aisling moments and fun family antics, the story wasn't as big a catastrophe as it could have been.
Aisling and Braden had to miss the conference in Vegas because of work. Unfortunately one of the souls Braden collected had an item that a minor criminal wanted. Aisling became a hostage.
Asling is a very disturbing heroine and the rest of the Grimlocks are also a worry, but lovely to revisit after knowing they are married, have a child and are helping save the movement between worlds.
I love Braden and Aisling's dynamic. It reminds me of my 2 younger sisters. In the end, family is family and one will do anything for the other to protect them.
