First comes baby...then comes love?In this Amish County Courtships romanceAmish store clerk Tessa Fisher isn't ready for marriage or a family--until a baby girl is abandoned on her doorstep. Now Tessa and her gruffly handsome landlord, Turner King, must mind the baby together. And soon Turner and the sweet-cheeked kind are burrowing into Tessa's heart. But with secrets between them, can the temporary family find a way to stay together forever?
I can't believe it - two five-star reviews in a row for Love, Inspired. That's... NOT normal. That's a testimony of the good writing found within Carrie Lighte's books. And this is an incredibly good book.
Tessa likes living alone. She rents a dawdi haus from Turner King, a grumpy bachelor who wanted nothing to do with her or her sister when they moved in. Now that it's just her, she figured that it would be far worse, so she happily keeps to herself and socializes at the Amish goods store she loves working at.
That is, until a baby is dropped at her doorstep. It wasn't intended for her, however - it was meant for Turner. His wayward sister has been missing for over a year, and he spends all of his free evenings out trying to find her. The community believes she's living with an aunt in another Amish community, but the truth is that Jaqueline ran off during her rumspringa and went Englisch, and never came back. It's even MORE imperative he find her, now that he knows she's had a baby.
But how can he run the shop he owns, hunt for his sister, AND mind a baby? With the help of Tessa, who just got laid off from her job during the slow winter months... and who was worried she couldn't make her rent. Free rent in exchange for helping him keep an enormous secret...
And of course they fall in love along the way. But, oh, what a lovely journey to that love! Definitely worth picking up - and that's coming from someone who doesn't give many five-star reviews.
Minding the Amish Baby is an outstanding story written by Carrie Lighte in her Amish Country Courtship series. This is such an amazing storyline which kept me reading just to see what would happen next. There are a lot of twist in this story and it will definitely keep the readers interest. This story is filled with love, forgiveness, faith, and family.
Tessa is strongwilled, intelligent, but oh so loving. Her willingness to step up and help a man with a big dilemma even though he has not been very friendly towards her says a lot. Turner is different from most Amish men. He was willing to step up and take charge of a situation all in the name of love for his sister. I really enjoyed how the story ended.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others who enjoy the Amish genre.
Congratulations to Carrie Lighte on writing another fantastic story for her readers to enjoy and I will be watching for her next amazing book.
Tessa is enjoying the rarity of being a single woman, working and not living at home. Now that her sister has married and moved out she is under pressure from her parents to move back home. The same day that her boss lets her know that he has to cut her hours a baby is left on her doorstep. The baby was left at the wrong house - it should have gone to her landlord. There were a couple of things that I found that didn't match the Pennsylvania Dutch that I've heard when I lived near an Amish community, nor have read in other books. That could have been the different area that Tessa lives in.
I found the book to be heartwarming, easy to read, inspirational, Tessa trying to keep Turner's secret while helping him caused some misunderstandings. I received this book as a gift from the author. No one asked me to leave a review and all opinions are my own. I enjoyed the book, read it in two sittings and this is the first book I've read by Carrie Lighte but will definitely be reading more of her books.
Wondering what her future holds, Tessa Fisher finds her hours being cut at the local Amish shop where she is a clerk. Looming over her head is her parents desire for her to come home and be courted for marriage.
When a baby is accidentally left on her doorstep her life takes a sharp turn. Tessa is very independent but she has a heart of gold and offers to help her landlord Turner take care of baby Mercy who comes with a big secret Tessa has promised to keep.
I liked seeing how Turner King truly cared about his family and was on a mission to locate a family member. The miscommunication and journey that Turner and Tessa took from landlord and tenant to something more was enjoyable to read. I was turning the pages to see how the story would end.
This was the first book I read by this author and I am looking forward to reading more Amish books from her.
Good book. I read this book a long time ago, when I started reading again, I kept thinking it sounded familiar. (Once you read as many as I have, you don't remember the names of the books.) But when you read a good book and you start to re-read it again, it all comes back. I guess that is why I can not stand to read the end of the book before I finish it. Once I know the end, I don't want to read it again. On a good book, I never forget the ending, therefore, I have no interest to re-read it. This was a good book, because I remembered it from the beginning to the end. J😉
Tessa Fisher is laid off from the store where she works, reducing her shifts to one a week. She is afraid she will have to move back to her parental home and endure her mother matchmaking until the landlord, Turner King has his infant niece dropped on him to care for. He agrees not to charge rent if Tessa will provide infant care. The baby was born to his younger sister out of wedlock so it has to remain a secret which provides many complications. They are ultimately sorted out by his sister's return allowing him to court Tessa.
3.5 stars (rating shown may vary depending on review site).
I would put this as one of the better Love Inspired titles I've read. Tessa and Turner have known each other for a while before the book starts--granted, not known each other well, but at least known each other. The way their trust in each other grows seems natural. The romance doesn't feel rushed.
