I am, first and foremost, a storyteller and an artist--words are my palette. Fantasy is my genre of choice, and I love to explore the darker side of human nature through the filter of fantasy heroes, villains, and everything in between. I'm also a freelance writer, a book lover, and a guy who just loves to meet new people and spend hours talking about my fascination for the worlds I encounter in the pages of fantasy novels.

Fantasy provides us with an escape, a way to forget about our mundane problems and step into worlds where anything is possible. It transcends age, gender, religion, race, or lifestyle--it is our way of believing what cannot be, delving into the unknowable, and discovering hidden truths about ourselves and our world in a brand new way. Fiction at its very best!

A good continuation of the plot from the previous book. Lots of development of the main character and the new ones in this story. More focus on the complex relationship between The Hunter and his wife and the trials they face in this story which to be honest I got a bit bored of and skimmed these sections.. :o

Lots more interesting characters both good and bad to keep things interesting and as usual the world building is very descriptive and full if not more confined as the story is set in one place. This however doesn’t detract from the overall appeal of the story and events unfolding.

Overall an enjoyable read with lots of characters, great world building and a solid plot line. There’s lots to take in and digest about the lineage of The Hunter, his race and others and also what we have been lead to believe over the course of this series of books. And of course a pretty interesting ending.

This book is the grande finale, the culmination of all the Hunter had strove for whilst travelling the length and breadth of Einan, he had finally arrived in Enarium, the lost city of the Serenii but what he found there was not what he was expecting. Enarium was a horror place for humans who were herded in their thousands into the pit by the Elivasti guards and left to rot, some of whom lived down there from birth till death and now Kiara was down there too and she was Hunter's friend. He vowed he would get her out of there and if possible all the other humans too but there where so many other things he needed to do now that he was finally in Enarium. Er'hato Tashat, the blood sun would soon rise, and the withering would commence, he had to stop the Sage and kill him before he managed to harness the power of Enarium's towers to free the Devourer of Worlds. He also needed to help his wife Taiana find their long lost daughter, Jaia and he had to find the opia cure for Halien before the Irrsinnon got him, but first he had to get Halien out of the clutches of the Sage who knew that he was a Melachha and would use his blood to open the rift. This final book gives us the best ending ever, such a satisfying read to what has been an awesome grimdark epic saga, the hunter a character who started of as a cold blooded assassin who sold his services for gold but ended up as a man who saved the vulnerable, and did so with so much honour. Even though this is the final book in this series I hope to read more about this amazing character, a Bucelarii who decided to let his human half overpower his demon half in the life choices he made thus becoming a better man!

Book #6 Darkblade Savior

What an awesome ending! These books are dark in their nature but the story is great. The character development and story line are fascinating and Andy Peloquin gets your attention draws you in and holds you there. It's a wild ride at times but wonderfully written. I'm not to big a fan of the darker fantasy but I have to give this series five stars and two thumbs up. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍👍

Another absolutely riveting book in this addictive and gripping series
We have reached book 6 in the Hero of Darkness series, and as we join our favourite dark hero, he is just getting over being dead. I mean, that's just how he rolls. At the end of the last book, the Hunter was fighting a stone warrior who guards the entrance to the fabled Serenii city of Enarium. Being a Bucelarii; a special human/demon hybrid, created to be immortal and darn near indestructible to anything except iron (Iron is their only weakness) the Hunter is naturally very hard to kill. Unfortunately for the Hunter, he was stabbed in the side by a shard of an iron weapon and the iron poisoned and killed him.

He clearly remembered dying, and yet here he is, getting up again. Even his own personal kryptonite doesn't stop this guy.

Incredibly, his wife of many years, Taiana, saves him by using his demon infused dagger called Soulhunger, and stabbing and killing those soldiers who had come to try to kill him. It is a strange benefit of using Soulhunger; the dagger of a bucelarii, helps preserve the life of the Hunter, by draining the soul and life force of its victims, and passing that life force energy straight to the Hunter.

This story is filled to the brim with action, fantastic magic, more surprises than you can shake a stick at and great characters. The one thing I would have loved was more information about the Serenii. They sound very cool and a bit more of their history would have been wonderful.

I loved the way this story examined the Hunters past, mixed in with his present, and we see how both types of responsibility affect him.
The more we read about this hybrid creature, the more we see how deep his humanity goes and I really love that about him. His past has been so elusive until now. It was brilliant being able to find out who he really is.

I can't imagine living as long as the Hunter has. And the thought of believing yourself to be the last one of your kind is incredible; and then the mind blowing affect of finding out that you aren't really the last one, and that another one of your kind to have survived this long, is your WIFE. What a great plot twist!

This story is impressive in concept and wonderful in execution. What marvelous writing. How this story has adapted and changed over this series. Graduating into this story which is incredibly moving and insightful.

As I have said before about this series, the character of the Hunter will stay with me indefinitely. He has become a part of me to such an extent, that when I think of a hero, it won't be Ironman or Superman...no, it will be the Hunter every time. How often does a book make you feel like that.

Roll on the next book!

In Darkblade Savior, the Hunter discovers his real name, Drayvin, his past, the truth about the thirteen gods of Einan and also ends his transformation from murderer to hero and savior of millions of people imprisoned in the Pit.
As I mentioned earlier, the author takes up the thread of the story of the Hunter of Voramis at the exact point where he left it in the previous book, continuing with the plot and adding more action and answering the questions that the reader can, and surely it has been done when reading the previous books. This is a characteristic of this series and this author, that hardly meets other authors.
I recommend reading this series in order, so that the reader fully understands the characters and their motives. It is a series full of action and adventure, where everything is not white or black, where the protagonist is transformed from anti-hero to savior.
If it was possible, I would give this book ten stars, which are well deserved, for its quality and all the hours of entertainment it has given me.

Just in case you thought Peloquin was only a fantasy adventure writer, comes Darkblade Savior with its tender and exquisitely moving scenes between a husband and wife. These bits are an emotional tour de force, and the sexual relationship is handled with consummate delicacy; you can practically see the steam rising, yet there not a word to bring a blush even to a nun.
As well, a number of philosophical issues are tackled in this excellent novel. They're well handled and well thought out, without ever being 'preachy'. We see real character development in the Hunter, and it is altogether a marvellously satisfying read.
The fast-paced scenes of swordplay and derring-do are by no means missing either, and fans of Peloquin's awesome fight scenes won't be disappointed.
A great piece of work!

Not the end???

This has been a consistently amazing series that I never wanted to put down ( everyone needs sleep I guess ) the characters were fab even the baddies. The content of every single book was heartstopping intrigue suspense and a rollercoaster of emotion. The actual main character you just grow to love and understand. All of the scenes were well described and imaginable and the cities camps and dungeons were bought to life. I have to stand up and applaud Andy Peloquin for an outstanding series and an amazing last book (for the time being we hope). It would be a real shame to pass on this series if you like this genre.

This is the climax the Dark Hero deserved. We finally get to meet the Hunter's wife, get the truth of what happened on Einan and in the war of the gods. When it was over, there was a hole in my heart like I binge watched 10 series of whatever and didn't know what to do with myself. I was so caught up in the story and I needed more...and Andy delivered. He left an opening to further develop Einan and other characters we've been introduced to and even some of their kids...

Well, this is where the story ends for me.

It's not a bad ending to the story (even though the series continues), it just wasn't really enough. I got a bit bored in the end; for some reason, I got lost in the plot in the previous book and couldn't find myself to be so invested in this book.

So, it's a good book, some nice and expected surprises, but it just didn't do it for me.
Still, most people wrote really good reviews, so you should definitely try and make up your own mind

Not a book you want to read if you are tired or only have a short time to read. Book six is deep and intense. So much that has driven the hunter to this point gets turned on its head. He is torn by loyalties and needs to make quick decisions. This is a fantastic climax of the series so far. Andy leaves things tied up enough to be satisfied, but with room to join the characters again later.

An end to the journey ?

Loved the journey and the ending. From the start to the finish it's been a righteous adventure.
It's great to see the main character grow throughout the books. I would recommend these book's to all fantasy fans.
I look forward to more from this author.

Wow, as an ending this is very very good. The Hunter seems to come up with the goods whenever required. I hope this isn’t the last we hear of him that’s for sure. If you liked the others you’ll love this. Very highly recommended.

Everything changed

I liked this series, until this book. Everything changed. It feels like the author decided to go in an entirely different direction. Then the series didn’t even end.

Wonderful! What a way to tie up a six book story! Questions answered, legends explained, lives saved, and evil defeated (for now). And the perfect set up for more adventures with our favorite characters. Who could ask for more?

I did it again, I just moved right into the next book and forgot to mark goodreads.

This is a good book, better than some of the middle ones. The entire series is good. Hard to like a character that should be unlikable but this one works.

Even free it's not worth it.

The series is ridiculous, this book specifically is quite annoying. I've been trying to finish this specific book for two months. I cannot do it.

"..He was a protector of those who could not protect themselves." Looking back over the Darkblade series its amazing to see many identifiable changes in the Hunter. Andy takes you to places you cannot imagine. In Darkblade Savior, there are many though provoking "speeches" from the Hunter (Andy) that makes you sit back and say, "huh, that totally makes sense." There were many "aha" moments (for me). Walking beside the Hunter has been amazing and I'm sadden that the Hunter's story is coming to an end as I being the last book in the Hunter's journey.

Improving

Series improving with less fighting and more thoughtful characters. Still some repetition but seems less than in so e of the earlier books.
