The Sleigh on Seventeenth Street

Rate this book
When sparks fly in Three Rivers, can love light up the Christmas season for these two opposites?

A skilled cowboy electrician and a determined plumber must overcome their differences and navigate the challenges of love, work, and falling for each other during the magic of the Christmas season.

Camila Cruz is eager to secure the bid for a new development project in Three Rivers to save the mom-and-pop plumbing shop she works for and make it her own. Meanwhile, Dylan Walker, a talented electrician and somewhat cocky cowboy, is equally determined to win the electrical contract for the same project. When they both succeed in their bids, their professional paths become entwined, igniting a connection that neither can deny.

Despite the small town rumors surrounding the handsome electrician, Camila finds herself drawn to Dylan. As they work together and share in the town's festive Christmas celebrations, Camila begins to see a different side of Dylan—one that challenges her initial assumptions.

Can Camila and Dylan finish the build without breaking up or losing their shirts? Will they be able to traverse the delicate balance of water and electricity, the spell of mistletoe and Santa’s sleigh versus reality, without losing their hearts?

In this heartwarming Christian cowboy romance, Dylan and Camila learn to decipher the truth in business, embrace the magic of the season and the power of faith as they take a chance on love, discovering that sometimes the most unexpected connections can be the most rewarding.

Dylan and Camila did not have the best introduction, but spending more time with her makes him want more. Camila is continuously proving herself as competent in a man's world and it seems like it's out to drag her down. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

A pleasant story, an easy, quick read for a lazy day. Cami and Dylan are both a little lost, something missing from both their lives, but they are both too shy to admit their love for each other. It takes a catastrophic work issue that could lose both of them their jobs to make them finally work together and look towards a shared future.

A gentle love story.

I enjoyed this story as the original Kindle Worlds novella, and it’s even better now that it’s been expanded and found a home in Three Rivers. I love Dylan. I loved him as the best friend in Boone’s book and I love him so much more here in his own book. It took a little whole longer for me to really like Cami, though. She’s so prickly, and her overly defensive attitude means she often takes offense when none was meant. I’ve run across a saying that seems to fit here: just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you. And Cami has earned her defensive attitude with good cause. She’s the only woman on a worksite filled with men, doing a job usually reserved for a man, so as a visible minority it makes her an easy scapegoat when things start going sideways. I really enjoyed watching Dylan carefully work his way past those pointed defenses and showing Cami that some people genuinely have her best interests at heart. And his big, rambunctious, loving family helps him in that endeavor.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

The Sleigh on Seventeenth Street is a Christian romance story. I liked it, but the story had a number of loose ends. The two main characters are a plumber and an electrician, but the plumber is a girl, Camilla Cruz, and she is trying to prove herself in her profession. She has been in Three Rivers about three years. Three Rivers is a Texas town about an hour from Amarillo, where she came from. Cami, as she is called in the book, struggles with herself and relationships; she has a quick temper and doesn’t react well in some situations. Additionally, her last relationship was with an abusive man who was also a plumber. When she finally outed his abusiveness, she lost her job, so she came to Three Rivers to start over.

Dylan is the electrician; he is a good guy who keeps all the Three Rivers Christmas floats going. He also helps out at a horse ranch that caters to wounded veterans who need some horse therapy. So he is a cowboy, baseball fan, dog lover, handyman, electrician and an eligible bachelor. His first meeting with Camilla came shortly after she came to town, and it was a blowup at the jukebox. However, they later are brought together on a big project on which they both won their respective bids. Predictably, they began to form a relationship although water and electricity don’t mix well. Issues on the job create a major problem, but it gets worked out in the end when Dylan acts like the white knight.

Dylan as a character is pretty straight forward. He is thoughtful, protective, and rather giving. Cami is the one who is volatile and has some hang-ups. She wavers between wanting to like Dylan and whether she is ready for any kind of relationship. Of course, in the end, things all work out, and the story ends on their wedding day.

It is a feel good story, but aside from Cami, the characters are pretty flat. Some questions go unanswered at the end of the story, but the questions are not central to their relationship. Dylan’s family and friends are nice folks with good values. He is a believer, goes to church, prays about things and as mentioned above, is a good all around guy. It is a quick read, and the author got me to chuckle a few times at the reactions of Cami or Dylan in some situations. It was engaging to read but is an easily forgettable book.

Cute story with a strong feminine lead

Fairly formulaic, but that's kind of an occupational hazard with romances. It is also CLEAN & the story line is an intriguing one.
The story revolves aeound 2 people who, along woth others in the building trades, have been granted the contracts to work on a new housing development. The only female is a plumber. The winning bids are all local bisiness people.
The man, an electrician, is the only single person in his family. He has dated but not seriously. The woman had worked in her hometown as a plumber & had dated the owner's son, who had turned out to be abusive. She left her hometown to go to the neighboring town, where she begged the local plumber for a job & got it.
The man is especially attracted to the fiery Latina plumber & manages to talk her into a date.
The book focuses on their work, their lives, their families & friends, their likes & dislikes, not solely on their attraction to one another, & thus gives us 3 dimensional characters with full lives
Something happens that results in a quarrel & puts both their jobs at risk. They work together to find the culprit.
Do they find the culprit? Do they get back together? All that is in thie sweet, VERY TASTEFULLY DONE novel that does NOT need a manual on how to have intimate relationships in order to convey passion, & in which both parties know how to exercise restraint.

I really enjoyed reading Dylan & Cami’s story. I thought the way the storyline progressed was well paced & not overly rushed. I adored the way these two interacted - they seemed like such opposites, Dylan being cool, calm & collected (for the majority of the time at least) and Cami possessing a determined, fiery, don’t-mess-with-me attitude. Yet as the old adage goes: opposites attract.
I have to admit that I was a little bit disappointed that the story followed the seemingly mandatory breakup/makeup theme that the other ones all seem to have (it’s been a while since I’ve read all of them so my apologies if there are actually some that don’t have relationship breakups in them). At least with this one they were only “broken-up” for a very short time.... seriously it was only for like 3 hours I think.
I thought the bit of mystery/intrigue that was brought into the story was interesting. I wasn’t expecting it. Mostly, I just liked how this is a clean, feel good read, with a happy ending.

Another awesome book in this series and Liz does not disappoint.

Dylan and Camila are both looking to get the bids for the new development that is going up in Three Rivers that will be a two year project. Dylan is bidding on the electrical work for the City and Camila is bidding on the plumbing work. To begin with it looks like the old saying that electricity and water don't mix but then they start to get along and things are going really good until someone sabotages the site and Camila is kind of blames. Dylan doesn't know what is going on so he doesn't say anything and she thinks that he believes it is her fault also. When he finds out he sets out to find out the truth and prove to her that he does not believe this was her fault. Will he be able to prove to her that he believes her and find out the truth? Will he win her back? What will happen to Camila's job when the owners decide to retire?

Dylan was hoping they would get the bid, for his boss, and to see it done correctly for himself. The key was to show that their company was dedicated to the public to bring then the best service. Cami, a plumber came to place a bid. Worked with her before, chip on her shoulder,, bossy so didn’t ask to date her. To find someone to date, or even take to the Sunday family get together’s he was tired of going alone. The bid would take two years to complete, they got the bid. While Cami, the mom and pop company got it for plumbing. Asking her to have dinner to celebrate and
she hissed at him. Sparks were flying between them, but electric and water don’t mix, she reminded herself. Then agreed on dinner. Delightful, funny, and two years contract together was just the beginning.Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

Another book has been given a rewrite to fit into the Three Rivers Ranch world. This book was originally Love's Spark, but with character name changes and more detailing to the story, this is a new book.
When reading a Liz Isaacson book, there are several things you expect, dogs, food, family and slightly dark twists. Each of these are delivered in spades! There is sexism faced by Camilla as a female plumber, a woman in a male dominated job, which she deals with, with her latin temperament, by not taking any nonsense.
The romance is sweet with two people supporting each other through change, both characters make life altering decisions during the book. Dylan is a very loveable character with a lovely family behind him. His nephews and nieces are adorable.
I voluntarily agreed to read an advanced copy of this book.

Sweet romance

Cami has been hurt and doesn't trust men. She also has a temper. Dylan is lonely and ready for a serious relationship. But he has a reputation as a player. Both are involved in a building project, one as an electrician and the other as a plumber, so their paths cross frequently. A mystery takes center stage for a brief moment, but otherwise the story focuses on the lovely couple working through their personal issues and differences.

There were some inconsistencies that bothered me, such as when the vegetarian orders a meat lovers pizza for the two of them. The book cover also doesn't come to matching the description of the two main characters. And the sleigh, which should be decked out for Christmas, is a small detail in the story, making the book title a bit odd.

This is a romance but has undercurrent themes such as domestic abuse, and discrimination against women. There is a little mystery that comes in at the end of the book and it is very lightly Christian themed. And there is Christmas.

I liked both the main characters. In a lot of romances of this nature the conflict between the couple doesn't always seem that valid to me but I thought this one was valid even in the misinterpretation of situation. And I liked that the situation didn't drag on forever but was resolved pretty quickly.

It is a quick, clean read.

No sex, language or violence (other than talking about a previous abusive relationship).

I was given an advance copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it with my own opinions.

This story takes place in Three Rivers, Texas where Saddleback Homes is building a new development. There is romance brewing between Dylan and Cami as they wait to see if their bids will win to put in the electricity and plumbing. Cami's ex boyfriend, who had physically abused her in her last job, is also there to put in a bid. I really liked Dylan's relationship with his family and how surprised they are when he brings Cami to his parent's house. I also enjoyed the mystery in the story too. It is a clean and fun story to read. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Sleigh on Seventeenth Street

This was another of Liz's great books. I have read most of this series and enjoyed them all. This was a story about intrigued, sabotage and good luck. The fact that the contractors had to do their jobs in stages was nothing new to them as the construction site was so large that the buildings were only going up in stages. The fact that someone thought they could interfere with the plumber and the electrician came as a complete shock as this stopped everything until the culprit was caught. This was a Free book and a great read. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill

The Sleigh on Seventeenth Street is a clean and fun to read romance. Dylan and Cami start out mixing like water and electricity, which is fitting because she's a plumber, and he's an electrician. They soon discover their attraction to each other. Liz Isaacson writes natural-sounding dialogue and describes scenes well without slowing down the plot. There's a bit of a mystery in the book. I enjoyed the twists and turns in the story. I would recommend this to sweet/clean romance readers and Christian romance readers. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.

As a woman, Cami, has to work twice as hard and prove herself over and over again that she is every bit (and probably more than) as capable as a man in the plumbing world. A new housing development needs bids for the contracts for plumbers and electricians and she finds herself not only thwarted by sexism and chauvinism from some members of the community but also her personal feelings start to surprise her in regards to the electrician, Dylan, and how he interacts with people.

A lovely, seasonal, romantic story, well written.

What a sweet story about love. It was so sweet to watch Dylan, a man who had a heart as big as Texas, slowly find the love of his life. He had to practice patience even when he thought he had no more, he found that he really did have more.

Cami is one strong woman who has survived abuse and had made a way for herself in what most think of as a man’s profession, a plumber. She was good at her job and probably worked harder than most men in the profession because she was a woman. She was not one that was expecting to find a man she could trust until she met Dylan.

A sweet Christmas story! Cami is a plumber and expects to work twice as hard as a man in order to prove herself professionally! Dylan is an electrician and tired of attending family dinners alone. When they both win the bids on a new development, sparks begin flying! Cami and Dylan are both excellent characters as Cami learns to trust again. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to others. I received a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest opinion.

The Sleigh on Seventeenth Street

Dylan and Cami only tolerate each other at best. Both have put in bids on separate areas of a huge building projects and will need to work somewhat together if they win their bid. Why does it seem things begin to mysteriously happen with the project that they are responsible for. Will they be able to figure things out or will they just go their different directions.

Great Story

I really like this book. I liked the two main characters and how they learned to love again and let ho of past hurt. I loved that Cami was a plumber and how she was not afraid to stand up for herself or her job. It was hard at times that she was a girl doing what men mostly do but she didn't let that hold her back.
The Christmas parade sounds anazing and so fun.
It was a very enjoyable story.

Opposites Attract

Camila moved to Three Rivers to escape her abusive ex. Now with her work life in gear, is it possible to have a personal life? Can she actually trust the opposite sex?

Dylan loves his job, family and friends but is seriously wanting someone for him to love.

When he and Camila turn in bids for their companies, they begin to wonder if water and electricity can mix into a personal life ~

Just as water and electricity don’t mix, Dylan Walker is convinced he doesn’t stand a chance of dating Camila Cruz. They’re total opposites. Both work long hours—he’s an electrician and she’s a plumber. This enjoyable, but often intense, read has under currents of domestic abuse and sabotage as they struggle for their HEA.

It takes hard work to get any job done

Even when it is love. Nothing is better than a love story in Three Rivers at Christmas time so I wasn't disappointed in this story. While Camino works hard to prove she is the right person for the job at hand a few obstacles along the way makes it challenging to make everything work out.

Great story but.

I love both male and female leads but I felt that the sub plot, which was very compelling, felt unfinished and then it was very rushed to the end. Also , I'm one for technical aspects and i just don't see a 6 story apartment building in a small town, that bugged me a lot.

Excellent, Wonderful, Marvelous!
I adore everything about this novel and the way that it inspired my faith. I felt the characters struggles and trails as if they were my own. I prayed for them and wept with them. These emotions brought on means that no one will be disappointed if they decide to give this novel a chance! ❤

Clean romance

A clean and light romance suitable for young adults. For myself (an older adult), while I have no objection to having romance intertwined in the telling, would prefer a historic tale or a story with more challenging obstacles to overcome. A light romance with a happy ending.

I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. This is an interesting Christmas theme book. The characters and plot were well developed and written. I also enjoyed a return peek at characters from previous Three Rivers Ranch books. I would recommend reading the whole series.

Good reading!!

This was a cute story. I enjoyed the relationship between the plumber and the electrician. True love rarely runs smoothly and this love story was no different. However, the foundation of their relationship helped them overcome difficulties that could have ruined everything. Enjoy this story!

I loved this book!

A good read! A happy ending! Suitable for younger readers with no
foul language or blatant sex scenes are some of the reasons that I liked this book! A strong female heroine, a bit of mystery, a handsome understanding hero, a believable plot, a love story, Christmas... & a dog made it even more enjoyable!
