What started as an adventure, soon became hell. Piper Johnson’s thrilled to spend time in Timor-Leste with her best friend, a Peace Corps volunteer…until civil unrest erupts throughout the countryside, including an attack at the orphanage the women were visiting. With the aid of a SEAL team sent to extract the government employee, Piper flees with the only other known survivors—three young orphan girls. Piper wasn’t able to save her friend, but she’ll be damned if she leaves the girls to the mercy of child traffickers in the country’s impoverished capital. However, taking them with her to the States requires something drastic, something crazy…something she can’t do alone.

What started as a mission, soon becomes fate. Since nearly dying on a previous op, Beckett “Ace” Morgan has no time for regrets. Life is far too short. So when he learns the brave, beautiful, selfless woman he’s rescued has a better chance of getting three orphans out of the country if she’s married, he doesn’t hesitate. Ace marries her then and there, instantly gaining the family he’s always wanted. With time, he knows his respect for Piper can grow into love, and meanwhile, he’s saved both her and their new daughters from a fast-spreading rebel incursion.

Protecting his girls on foreign soil turns out to be the easy part of the team’s mission. Protecting them from a threat waiting at home may be the biggest fight of Ace’s life.

** Securing Piper is the 3rd book in the SEAL of Protection: Legacy Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

You’ve been duped. Hoodwinked. Bamboozled.

Let me explain: This book should come with a major disclaimer—not some cute little, happy whoo-whoo blurb about a girl that gets in trouble and a guy that saves her. That is not this book. Well, that’s not all this book is. I’m doing my civic duty in warning you. This book is a total SET-UP. Yep, you heard me or read me or whatever. It’s a set-up. A master planned, super-sneak, evil genius (in the nicest sort of way), SET-UP. Alright, I might be stretching the civic duty thing a bit, but I don’t think so. I’m doing you a solid. You’re welcome.

Let’s start out with some basic facts. ‘Securing Piper’ is the 3rd book (technically, the 4th book if you include Brenae’s book. Yes! Totally include Brenae cuz that story is sweet) in the SEAL of Protection: Legacy Series authored by Susan Stoker. Hopefully, you’ve read the first three books with Caite, Brenae, and Sydney. You don’t need too, but it makes the story more complete if you’re familiar with Rocco, their commander and Gumby.

On to my civic duty—Piper is an introvert. She does the ‘indoors’ like feral wildebeests do the ‘outdoors’. She’s not into ‘peopling’. So, what does Piper do? Like any good introvert with an extrovert friend (this is a true thing—I’m the biggest introvert I know and most of my friends are extros) does, she hops on a plane for an island. Nothing wrong with that. Except that whole scenario is fraught with wrongness. She meets Ace. I’m sure you’d love to read that they meet, fall in love and live happily ever after. So, yeah, they do that. But, Susan Stoker doesn’t write for Disney. Get real people. She’s like if Disney and...the Investigation Channel (it’s a cable channel; all sorts of crazy, scary crime scene shows with killers) got together for a dinner party. There might be a beautiful heroine and a sexy-alpha male, but you know you’re going to get some bloodshed, maybe a kidnapping and a gruesome, creepy weirdo lurking in the shadows somewhere.

Back to my civic duty—Piper is all that: a beautiful, strong-willed, slightly pragmatic, introvert. She’s doing the best she can with the circumstances she’s found herself in. And she lucky enough to found herself in Ace’s world. Or Ace is lucky enough to have his world collide with hers. She can thank her lucky stars. He’s just the kind man that’s been dreaming about a pretty Piper. You can’t help but love Ace. He’s alpha, but not a$$hole-ish. He’s patient, gentle, and understanding. He’s strong, dedicated and determined. You can totally fall for him.

Now, for the SET-UP. You know that Piper is the 4th book. And if you’re doing your math that means that there were 3 books before Piper (Caite, Brenae, and Sydney). And if you’re forward-thinking, you’ve stalked the Susan Stoker pages and you know that there are at least 2 books after Piper. That means you better pay attention to Piper’s book folks. Stoker is a major meannie. It’s a elemental, make sure your boots are firm on the ground, check your seatbelt SET-UP. Pay attention.

Even though Piper’s book has jungle rebels, dead bodies, orphaned children, a SEAL team of hot dudes, it’s not harsh. I felt a softer tone with Ace and Piper. The stuff around them is awful, but the stuff between them is sweet and poignant. They a couple profoundly and earnestly in-tune with each other. They are a matching pair that fit together beautifully.

Susan Stoker is one of the few authors that I’ll wait for. What I mean is this: I detest finding a kick-butt author with an amazing book and series and then having to wait for the next book in that series. I loathe waiting for the next book (which seems to take years for. Like what’s with that? Waiting a year for the next book? I’ve already forgotten the first story!! ). I digress. I’ll wait for a Susan Stoker book. I’ll reread the series, or reread her other series, or go do housework I should have finished months ago. I’ll wait for her books because I know I’ll get a master story with real-world people and a strong love. (All those other authors? Heck, I’ll let the author take 5 years to complete her series before I start them. I’ll read them when I’m ready). So, yes, I’m waiting for the next book and the next book and next book by Susan Stoker. It’s what you do if you love reading a Stoker series. Even if I know I’m being set-up. {shrugs shoulders}. I do it happily.

Okay…I read a lot of books. Like. A LOT. And I try to do reviews on as many as I can, cause, ya know…authors and readers need reviews to let them know how good a book is. Well, at least, that’s my theory. Now I have a friend, who for many reasons (like I want to stay alive) will not be named, who does these FABULOUS reviews. I mean her reviews are witty, humorous, intelligent and quite often spot on about whichever book she is reviewing. This is a good thing. Remember, I said that readers and authors need reviews. But here’s the thing, and it’s me, I know and admit this, I feel like I need to be JUST as witty and humorous in MY review. I mean…she sets the review standard HIGH. So here’s my attempt at reaching that benchmark.

Securing Piper is the latest release by author Susan Stoker. It’s book number three (although technically four) in her SOP: Legacy series. As always Ms. Stoker writes a riveting tale for her heroine and alpha male. Be prepared for excitement, exotic locales, angst, and obviously romance. What’s very often the best piece of Ms. Stoker’s books are that the characters are genuine and relatable. Take Piper, for instance. She’s not a people person. Well, neither am I to be quite honest but Piper excels at “peopling”. Although she would most assuredly love to stay “at home” she’s willing to “brave” the world. But as is Ms. Stoker’s way, ‘Murphy’ loves to pop in and help things go sideways. Isn’t this always the case??

Enter Ace. The absolutely HAWT guy that comes to her rescue…btw, where is he when I need rescuing?? Never mind. Back to what I was saying. Yes, there is a rescue (ish), yes, they fall in love, yes, you get your HEA. But be forewarned there are going to be twists and turns, roadblocks and heck even a detour before that happens. But here’s a tip: buckle up cause the ride’s a DOOZY!!

So I should be getting to the end of my review here. But there is one more thing I need to make you aware of. There might be some foreshadowing of books to come. Okay, there is no MIGHT about it. Ms. Stoker straight up TEASES you about upcoming books. I’m all for a good tease, I mean who isn’t but as Ms. Stoker has multiple series going at the same time, this tease means you’ll have to WAIT for the next book. Again, not a bad thing. Except, let me tell you STRAIGHT OUT, there’s gonna be a wait. There, I said it. You know the proverb: “Good Things Come To Those Who Wait”. But honestly…waiting SUCKS!

After the orphanage that Piper was visiting is attacked by rebel forces, she barely escapes with her life - and three orphans. Determined to adopt the girls, she marries one of her rescuers, Ace. But it's not all smooth sailing from there...

I remember sitting up and taking notice when I first read the synopsis of this book, because it sounded exactly up my alley. A marriage-of-convenience! Adopted children! Peril in foreign climes! And as usual Stoker delivered in spades.

The author unabashedly pulls on your heartstrings here with the relationship between Ace, Piper, and the children, and the bond between all of them is palpable. I liked how Kemala especially was given a well-rounded character, and appreciated that the author tried to handle the "white savior" issue gracefully, even if she did not always succeed. I am also glad that the author was kind to the villain and the way the conflict was resolved, even if I was a little wary of the depiction of mental illness.

However, I wished the younger children's characters were more developed - they kind of fall off in their complexity in the second half of the book. I was also not completely invested in the relationship between Ace and Piper, maybe because I was enjoying that between them and the children too much!

Overall, I enjoyed this book, and am now very curious about the fate of Kalee - who I see has a book of her own.

This is a really good story.

Usual Susan Stoker Hero. Strong, protective streak. This time for both the heroine and three children.
Some interesting issues raised.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Bit slow burn due to the situation they are in and the three children being present for most of their time together.
No other woman or man drama.
No real relationship history.
Pretty instant connection but more admiration than love at first.
Some violent references and unpleasant issues going on in the background but no details or descriptive scenes.
Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series and updates of previous characters and possible spoilers to their books if not read series in order.
Beloved Tex also makes an appearance.
Warning that the epilogue drops a huge breadcrumb for a future book and it looks like the book that will continue it isn t out next.
HEA. No doubt the couples story will continue in the background of the series.

Safe, both celebrate 1+ years. Great Insta-connection turns into true love story. They get together and stay together. My only, Oh no!!! Please tell me you didn't go there, was at the very very end at the look at another story. You can't tease me like that ;)
I like the audio version as well

I'm loving this series. I think Phantom is my favorite, and of course, he will be last to get a book.

These SEALs are insta-everything, except sex. They fall in love quickly and state their intentions fast, but are very slow to move into the bedroom. Ace and Piper are great together. I loved the engagement and adoption story for the embassy. They are great at insta-parents too. Loved seeing all the team mates and their ladies. Plus there's a great teaser for the next book. Bless Phantom's heart...

Securing Piper was just one surprising adventure after another.

I have to say I thought this story was going in such a different direction...lol but I also have to say I absolutely love Securing Piper it was an amazingly emotional story that left he lovingly shocked to the core.

And the little surprises at the end omg Susan Stoker is such a tease.

Hands up gals who thinks a hot Navy SEAL who grabs life by the balls and his chance at happiness in a crazy situation and marries a women he's just met and adopts 3 girls yep omg talk about a dream guy come true I was reading this one thinking maybe Susan had gone too far into totally unrealistic territory with Ace but then I thought nope I'd really love to think there are men out there who would do exactly what he did.

Worth more than 5 Stars 🌟

This story is an absolute must read and from everything I’ve read of Susan’s work so far, I’m going to say her BEST yet🤩 The only reason I’m saying that is because of the amount of times I had tears in my eyes😭 I fell in love with Ace and his gentlemanly ways with the girls that made me wish for my very own SEAL......shush don’t tell my hubby😁

Ace and his team are called in for a rescue mission to Timor-Leste, but when they arrive the mission isn’t what they thought it would be. Piper along with three orphans are hidden under the kitchen floor and make themselves known when Piper hears American voices speaking English. Ace and Piper forge bonds with the girls which make it difficult to ever think of leaving them behind in a country riddled with rebels fighting to take control of the country! They make a decision to get married in the hopes of adopting the girls and taking them to the US💕 Arriving in the US demonstrates to Ace, that he might have to protect his girls from a danger much closer than expected.

I loved this story as I frequently had tears in my eyes and felt the book overall held a much more emotional tone than previous stories...or it could have been the orphans that stormed off with my heart❣️ I’m sad we will only have Bubba’s story in January 2020 and find out more about what’s bugging Phantom late next year but I love this series, so I will patiently wait and devour anything else Susan writes in the meantime to keep me occupied😍

Edge of Seat

What did Susan do????? Oh! My !! God!!!! This is one book that I just couldn't out down..for long. Even though we had Ace and Piper, glimpses of what is to come in future books in the next year???
In this book, Piper goes to another country on vacation to stay with her best friend, Kalee. Who is a Peace Corps volunteer teaching the native English when whole there rebels attach the village and Piper and three orphans are hid under a foolproof the kitchen.
After several days, Seals come in to rescue Kalee and Piper but find a destroyed village and orphanage.
There are many obstacles that the Seals, Piper and the orphans go through to get safely back to the states and Susan has really had you glued at what the characters are revealing in Ace and Poker's story. Knowing there are possibly two more books being traded with us...
Seeing the love between Piper and Ace growing so fast and that Ace is taking his time , the love they have for Rani, Sent a and Kamala and making sure they're always knowing their loved as fed and loved for themselves.
Susan has really written a most wonderful book , I think that so far out of all her books this one is my absolutely favorite one. With glimpses of Tex, and others she has given me as I read each book, that these characters are alive, their feelings, their strengths and their beliefs are so realistic.
If anything her books could be read by themselves, but I would suggest to read them in order.
Susan Stokes Deal's and their ladies are the best.
Now, I have to wait patiently as I can for Rocco's story which is next, but it's gonna be a year before we find out that Phantom will get to go find Kalee...
Thank you Susan for the most wonderful book of all...

I have read most of Susan Stoker's books and I am never disappointed in her portrayals of heroes and heroine. We discovered what Ace wanted most in Securing Caite...and he gets his desire in Securing Piper. This book is emotion-PACKED. The empathy that Piper has for those less fortunate is endearing and you immediately want her to succeed in what she wants to do and the fact that Ace steps right up is a great beginning to the story. There were so many heartwarming tears evoking scenes in the book I literally had to put the book down. There's just so much and the epilogue not only left us hankering for the next book but for the final book in series. I am sure we are going to get snippets of that final story (which I can foresee is going to be a HUGE TEARJERKER) between now and the next 3 books. Susan always does a fantastic job of intertwining her series and mentioning characters we have already come to know and love. I enjoy series immensely and finishing them is tough...you feel like you're leaving friends you've come to know and love. And this series is no exception. I really like this bearded bunch and I did love when Piper said they were all like models from a sexy bearded man calendar. I like she has included they all have beards and why they have beards as part of their missions. Ace and Piper are truly a favorite. You can read this one alone, however, I would say read Securing Caite at least first...

Wow, this story had everything that Ms. Stoker is know for in it. It is Ace and Piper's story and it starts off with action and ends with a wanting for more stories.

Ace always wanted a family and Piper needs to get married in order to adopt three beautiful young girls that she protected during an incursion. Instant family, but it works. Ace and Piper found "the one" in each other and the rest just follows.

Ace is incredible and totally alpha male. Piper is amazing, everything a SEAL hero needs and deserves in a woman and quite possibly more.

This story brought tears to my eyes at times and made me chuckle at other times. This is a moving story about loss and grief and mental illness. It brings to light a topic that isn't talked about much but it is coming to light, mental health is no joke. Ms. Stoker brings out the emotion in this story and I felt for the characters and what they were going trough. This is an amazing story of survival, the power of love and forgiveness.

I enjoyed seeing Tex again in this book and the three girls in this story were precious. We were left with some tidbits for her final book in this series but the hardest part is waiting to find out what happened. I don't what to give anything way so I will stop there. In my opinion a great story makes you feel things like the characters in the stories do and this one did just that. The characters stay with you and linger long after the book has been read.

Piper Johnson is visiting her friend Kaylee in Timor-Leste when they are ambushed at the orphanage. Piper hides in a crawl space with three young orphans while Kaylee tries to get more of the children into hiding. When Kaylee doesn't come back, Piper does everything she can to make sure the girls are safe.
Ace Morgan and his team are sent to Timor-Leste to rescue Kaylee. Instead of finding her they find her friend Piper and three orphaned girls. Ace is immediately drawn to them. After they get Piper and the girls to safety, he nor Piper can bear to leave the girls not when they would be in the hands of child traffickers. Piper wants to adopt them, but being married looks better so Ace marries her and they adopt the three girls and bring them back to the US with them.
I love all of Susan Stokers books. Each is so well written and I usually devour them in one sitting. This one was no exception. I do love her jungle rescue books. I figured out that twist ending earlier in the book but it didn't take anything away from it. If anything it made it better because I knew I was right. Can't wait to read more.

This was another fun adventurous read from Susan Stoker. I liked how this book had more of a familial feel to it given that Ace and Piper become a family with three girls within days of even meeting. While they did marry immediately the two were more focused on the girls than their relationship which was nice as it gave them time to get to know one another. I’m a sucker for a badass hero who rescues his girl (in Ace’s case~his girls) and this book did not disappoint.

I can understand why readers enjoy this author’s books. It’s written at about a 6th grade level, repetitive simple predictable plot, pornographic, explicit description of the sexual encounters. I would guess this is a common theme that keeps readers coming back for more.

WOW!!! Welcome to one of the best reads/listens I have had in quite a while!!
This is book number 3 in Susan Stokers Seals of Protection:Legacy series (unless you count the novella Securing Brenae), then this is number 4 in the series.
This story is about Beckett Morgan(Ace-wait until you hear the story for that name) and Piper Johnson.
This is a true Susan Stoker full sized novel. It has everything in it (woman, man, mans teammates, kids, jungle rescue, rebels hell Bent on killing everyone, best friends, weddings, creepy crawlers, orphanages, grief, joy, bar scat crazy dads, forgiveness, and miracles).
There really is no way to say much without giving anything away.
She is visiting her bestie, rebels show up and poop hits the fan. The guys show up to save the day. Piper was hiding out with 3 orphans. She decides to adopt them. But she’s a single woman. Her bestie was killed by the rebels and the besties dad is completely distraught. The story goes on from there, and is sooooooooooo good (claps hands wildly wanting to tell you EVERYTHING!!!)

Will Piper get to adopt “her girls”?
Does Ace save them from the rebels?
Is the besties dad ok?
Can Piper and Ace save their family, now that they have what they fought so hard for?

OMG!!! People!!! The ending... just... ugh!!! What can I say to get you to go 1 click this story and be amazed at the sheer brilliance of this author with this story?!?

This story, while being a Susan Stoker story is NOT PREDICTABLE!!!! I made some great, on point calls...then the author zigged when I totally saw a zag coming a mile away!!!

Go!! Go one click right now!!
I’ll wait here😉

This is book 3 in the Seal of Protection:Legacy series and can absolutely be read as a stand alone. However, I loved the previous books and highly recommend them as well! In this one we get Beckett “Ace” Morgan and Piper Johnson’s story. Piper went to Timor-Leste to visit her best friend who was in the peace corps. What should have been a fun time visiting and sight seeing turns out completely different when rebels attack the orphanage they are visiting. Piper never expects to suddenly become responsible for 3 girls but she will do anything and everything she has to in order to keep them safe. Ace and his team are sent in to rescue a woman, but when his mission turns into something completely life changing-he doesn't hesitate to do what he feel's is right. And keeping the woman and the girl's that he feel's are meant to be his safe becomes his new goal. They should have all been safe once they were home, but neither expect for danger to continue to come at them or their girl's.

I absolutely loved this story! Not only is Piper this beautiful soul who will not leave behind those girl's for anything, but Ace feel's exactly the same way. They both can and will do anything to make sure those girl's have the lives that they should have vs the life that would have been theirs due to circumstances. Reading about the things that happen to women over there is heartbreaking, and knowing that it's not just adult women but children and young girls? It's even worse in my mind. I loved this story from start to finish. This author always finds ways to not only bring a beautiful story to life but she also seems to find ways to shine a light on the horror's that can and do happen to people. To somehow bring them to light and make people think and wonder how they may be able to help alleviate these types of situations for others. And I, personally, love that about her! Not only beautiful love stories with tons of action but there is just something there to make you think.

*Sigh, clutches kindle to chest*

My SOUL!! This book has ripped my soul from by body, placed it into an emotional blender and hit high speed. Ms. Susan, you are a dear, dear soul and I adore your books so very much. This is the third in the SEAL of Protection Legacy series, and boy oh boy is it a page turner!

We are brought back to the SEALS, and on this adventure we return to Ace and his team. There mission was simple, bring back the girl. Well...that did not go to plan at all, the women they are sent to find is no where to be found, instead they find Piper and three little girls.

The new mission? Get Piper and the girls back to safety pronto.

Piper was not expecting to spend three days under the floor boards of a house in the middle of nowhere mountains, but that is just where she finds herself after a rebellion breaks out in the small country. During that time, she bonds heavily with the three girls and finds herself not wanting to be parted from them. What can she do though? Well come to find out, she can do A LOT.

Ace has to be one of my favorite guys, he leads with her heart, and when his heart is telling him to help Piper keep these girls, well he does the only thing he can think of to make that happen.

He marry's her.

A new house, a new life, children and a spouse to boot, what have they gotten themselves into this time.

Join Piper and Ace and their new children on a suspenseful adventure of love, lose and new parenthood. As always, Ms. Susan's books are a one click buy, and a five-star rating, I can't wait for the next, and might just have to so a re-read of a series to tide me over.

Securing Piper

This is an amazing addition to the SEAL of Protection series with Ace and the rest of his SEAL unit sent to rescue Kalee Solberg from Timor-Leste when an uprising of rebels overran the orphanage that she was visiting with the Peace Corp. As it turns out Piper her friend had come to visit her and Kalee made her hide under the floor boards with three little orphans. where as all the killing and shooting had begun. When Ace and his unit came to the house as they were looking for Kalee, Piper popped out of the floor hearing the men speaking English after hiding there for days. This was the beginning of their quest to freedom from the evil rebels with Ace and Piper and her three little orphans with his unit ever step of the way. They saw Kalee laying face down in a ditch with all the bodies of the girls from the orphanage laying dead but could not retrieve her body which crushed Phantom, one of the SEALs. As they worked their way to the embassy to get Piper's passport they found out that the only way they could take the girls to the United States was of Ace and Piper married so that the adoption would go through. With the help of Rex, he fast tracked the adoption papers to make everything possible. This was an a fantastic love story as these two got their happily ever after with their girls but not until they overcame some terrifying occurrences. There is also a twist at the end that I did not expect and cannot wait to read more about in future releases.

I was on the edge of my seat right from the start with this one. I can't imagine being in that situation like Piper was. I thought she did a great job of keeping a calm, cool head and keeping the girls safe too. I was happy when the SEAL's showed up, that Piper would have some help getting them all to safety as she had hit the limit of her skills.

Of course I loved how Ace was instantly smitten with Piper and the girls, had guessed how some of that would go down. So when Piper made a move to adopt the girls I was happy, happier still when Ace made a move to help her. Sure Ace's move seemed sudden, but when asked about things Piper had the best answer, an answer that shut up all the other guys because they too could see the promise of what was to come for them.

You would think that getting back to the US it would be all sunshine and rainbows and a lot of it was. There was just one dark spot, Kaylee's dad who was a bit off his rocker. While I hated what happened with him, it showed the girls just how much Piper loved them, how willing she was to protect them.

I was very glad that everything ended well, that Piper and Ace were happy as a couple, that they had 3 great girls and were continuing to build their family.

About the only bad thing I have to say about this book was the bit at the end about Kaylee. I found myself shouting and cursing, mostly because it seems it will be a few books before we can find out for sure what his happening there.

Wow! Piper and Ace's story is so full of everything - action, suspense, drama, love, sacrifice, even a touch of horror. It was hard to put this book down to sleep or work, but I had to because sleep means I can work and work means I get money and money means I can buy more books (nasty vicious circle).

In Securing Caite we found out what 3 members of this SEAL team regretted most. Rocco - missing his date with Caite, Gumby - not getting a dog (Securing Sydney), and Ace - not having kids. This story shows (beautifully) that kids don't have to be your blood to be loved by you and how quickly a family can be formed.

Seeing the bond between these characters grow with every page turn made for an awesome read. Some twists and a couple of small speed bumps (or as they are called in Washington state - traffic calming devices) lead to one major road block which makes Ace realize that his team is not infallible.

I love this author but she is pure EVIL! Y'all know that she teases the next book in the series at the end of the current release, well this time she goes above and beyond - she teases a book that is not even on her schedule - no release date - and I have to have it NOW!!!!

Piper & Ace's story is quite INTENSE & contains a lot of emotion. It grabbed me from the first chapter & I didn't want to put it down!! I'm not a huge fan of "tromping through the jungle" stories, but so far I've enjoyed the ones by this author. I love the openness of the characters - there's no hiding feelings or prevaricating about the relationship. They're in a pressurized situation & need to make fast decisions, and they do.

I love this team, the comradery & brotherhood they have, and how the women in their lives fit into that. We get to see a lot of their support & friendship as well as teamwork! Everything about this story gets a thumbs up, 10+++ stars for me! The kids, the relationships, the dialogue, the story... parts of it broke my heart & made me tear up, but there were also some LOL moments & some "awwww!!!" woven in.

Bottom line - LOVED IT & looking forward to the rest of the team getting their HEAs. : )

An action-packed romance that had all the feels…

Piper and Ace’s story was amazing! Stuck in a deadly situation, Piper wasn’t ashamed to admit she needed a hero. When Ace and his military brothers found them, the danger wasn’t gone but it felt a whole lot less scary…

Efficient, capable and strong enough to keep her fears at bay, Ace was a hero just by doing what came natural. He and his group were what leading men are all about and their skills and take charge attitude meant the difference to Piper and the girls. Their journey to safety was full of tension, fear and a whole lot of awareness between the main characters. Hearing the story unfold from Piper and Ace’s points of view meant their thoughts and feelings became mine and I quickly became invested in their happily ever after. It was easy to get lost in their struggles and become their biggest cheerleader as they faced one obstacle after another…

This read fit the pattern of this author’s stories and if that is familiar it is only in the best of ways. Great writing, intriguing characters and situations that are always action-packed, I don’t read these books, I devour and savour them and I did that here as I finished this read in just a few (way too) short hours.

While Piper and Ace’s story was completed, a twist at the end had me going ‘what, what, what’ and immediately returning to stalker mode. I need the next story STAT!

*I happily reviewed this story

Securing Piper is by Susan Stoker. This is a great adventure and love story with US SEALs.
Piper Johnson spent her time in her apartment devoting herself to drawing her cartoons. She preferred staying home to going out. She was definitely not the adventurous nor athletic type. However, her best friend, Kalee invited her to Timor-Leste to visit her there at the Pease Corps town. She told her that it would be safe and that they would visit the orphanages she was so proud of. Kalee was always doing something adventurous and Piper just followed her. This time, however, things did not work out as the orphanage was overrun by civil unrest and the women and children at the orphanage were killed. Kalee had placed Piper in a hole beneath the kitchen along with three young girls. She had headed out to find others to bring to safety. She didn’t return.
Ace Morgan and his team were sent in by the government at the insistence of Kalee’s wealthy father, to extract her and Piper from the orphanage. Unfortunately, they got there too late for Kalee; but were able to rescue Piper and the three young girls. Could they get them to safety? Could they return to get Kalee’s body to be taken home? What would happen to the three young girls?

Oh my word! What an emotional and intense roller coaster read this is. Scary and full of threats of various kinds all the way through but also filled with a fast but everlasting love, and hope for something better. With a twist I had a feeling might happen but the how was still a surprise. This was harrowing reading at times and edge of your seat at others, I also found some inspiration in the love and dedication that built throughout. Fantastic characters and a plot that kept me turning the pages. Hurry up January for the next in this series coz I can't wait.

First off, this is my first ready by Susan Stoker. I’m not even sure I remember how I came across this book or author, but Securing Piper has been on my TBR list since it was published last year.
This book blew me away. I never anticipated reading a story this good, and it most definitely hits my top five favorite of all times.
Piper and Ace have amazing chemistry and their little girls - oh sweet lord they are the sweetest things ever!
I didn’t want this book to end. And I cannot wait to read about Kalee and her rescue.
This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone. Highly recommend.
