Chloe doesn't care that her ex is dating her best friend . . . so why is she jealous? Elizabeth wants lying, cheating Sam out of the duplex . . . but will her housemates vote against her? Todd's trying to impress the girl of his dreams . . . too bad nothing he says is true.
Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
Elizabeth... Ugh! It's so frustrating to read how naive these few characters dealt with their problems. But that's probably why this book exists, solely to either a) give advice to young adults in their decision-making, etc b) there is always a lesson to be learn in these books (SVU)
Spoilers*
It's rather irritating to read Elizabeth being so unreasonably... unwise. I mean, she's suppose to be the more sensible twin (make better decisions. Okay! They didn't say she was the most sensible person). It seems that she's more matured in her teens (Sweet Valley Twins or in Sweet Valley High) rather than the person she is in these SVU series? I mean really... she has been making wise decisions up until SVU, right? (I guess she may have felt more conflicted for being rather "un-sensible" too?)
Anyway, what did her character do to annoy me so? Come on girl, deal your problems with Sam maturely. I know you have a crush on Sam, (the guy who does all the wrong things to you) but hear him out. (Give him a chance to explain). The reason why this "I hate but love Sam" at the same time lasts throughout this book is because you're the one being unreasonable. Wake up! And at the end of the book, you're making out with him??? UGH!!!
Chloe... Chloe... Chloe... clearly, you've done some things you're not proud of/ Martin (your ex) You're getting on my nerve. It's obvious that you're not happy being with the so-called most popular group. But I get the pressure you're experiencing (some people would down right ignore others whom they don't THINK they should be giving respect to). After giving your ex- a make over (to make him look gorgeous, so you could show him off to the group) which was the lowest... (also made you all the miserable), you found a new friend in Nina... I'm kind of proud of you for having gone to the Hot Dog festival instead of being alone with your thoughts. No doubt, it's hard to face that your best friend (might be ex-best friend) is going to date your ex, Martin. (This I don't get, it really felt like an incomplete story where Val and Martin was actually trying to teach her lesson? But I guess not, unless the story spills over to the next book).
Todd, I don't know whose the better jerk here. You or Terese? You lied about your job, etc. But the thing is, if Terese (who is shown to be a victim of your web of lies) loves you - like really loves you... (or claims to be the nice girl you thought she is) she wouldn't have dumped you and ends the relationship with her last sentence to you, "have a nice life..." Underneath it all... she's a cold-hearted judgmental bitch! Like the way, she judges the girl in Red Lion restaurant. Yeah, that's her judging a university drop-out! So far... not liking this book. But if there's any more on Chloe and Martin, I'd read it!
