It's Christmastime on Cape Cod, and the magnificent Castleton Manor in Lighthouse Bay, Massachusetts, resembles a winter wonderland straight out of a fairy tale. Librarian Faith Newberry feels her spirits buoyed as she eagerly anticipates the upcoming retreat for children's book authors and illustrators. The retreat is cast adrift when someone is murdered....
It's Christmas time again at Castleton Manor. Eileen and Faith are preparing for a children's literary retreat that will showcase new authors and illustrators with planned activities for the local children.
During the festivities a certain illustrator who fancies himself a pirate, and has caused discourse amongst many of the attendees, is found murdered. Will this put a damper on the holiday festivities for the children? Or can Faith, her ever dashing kitty Watson and the Candle House Book Club solve the mystery in time and save the holiday fun?
These are so much fun. With every book I love this series more and more. I want a Watson 😂😂😂
This one took me a little more time to get invested in, but Watson always entertains me. The mystery took me some time to solve since there were a few people that I was pegging for the villain. This series is my 'comfy slippers' style of stories. I slip them on when I just want fun and familiar faces.
I am really enjoying the Secrets of the Castleton Manor Library series! I liked Tell No Tales more than the last book. Faith Newberry is the librarian at Castleton Manor, a literary retreat owned by Charlotte and her son Wolfe Jaxon. Each book features a different literary group. In Tell No Tales, children’s authors and illustrators are visiting along with a representative of a publisher. Before the retreat begins, a man dressed like a pirate rear ends Faith’s car. The man is rude and blames it on Faith’s cat Watson. Of course he shows up at Castleton Manor for the retreat. Unfortunately he is found dead shortly after the retreat begins. Luckily Wolfe is around for the week because his assistance is needed on several occasions. It is right before Christmas and the manor is beautifully decorated and there are festive activities for the guests. It is fun to see the potential romance between Faith and Wolfe starting to be noticeable. Could there be a little jealousy of a guest? Faith’s Aunt Eileen, and friends Brooke and Midge help Faith process the clues. They all belong to a book club together and are great characters who add humor and friendship. The books in the series are done by several different authors but they are seamless and you wouldn’t know it. I guessed the culprit but wasn’t sure until the end. A very enjoyable cozy mystery series with wonderful characters and an interesting mystery.
Another visit with Castleton Manor Library characters! The library I request these from did not have book #14 so I had to skip it. With this series, that's usually not too much of an issue.
The cover of this one does make sense once you read the book. I wish we'd learned a bit more about the retreat/children's visit. These later books in the series don't seem to have as much detail about the events, activities, and participants as some of the earlier books seemed to. I miss that.
Number 15 of this cozy series that I’m slowly going through. Great series for putting me to sleep as nothing terribly exciting or frightening happens. Faith works for a private library and she lives with her cat Watson on the lovely Cape Cod estate. We’d all love her life with maybe the exception of the unusual number of murders that happen there. This time a guest who dresses like a pirate and has a pet bird is found dead. Faith takes up the challenge of finding out who did it.
The best I have read in the series so far. The guests who come to the manor are there for a children's book workshop and they are all interesting. The story moved at a nice pace and the mystery unraveled in a way that kept you turning the page. A good story!
