From bold to bashful, this board book bursts with babies. With its invitingly simple, rhythmic text and stunning images of infants, readers will want to keep turning the pages. And on the last page, they will find a special child-safe Mylar mirror and see the baby they know best!
David Ellwand began his career in photography at the age of eighteen and uses a variety of formats and techniques in his books: black-and-white photographs, collage with hand-tinting, and full-color photography of handmade objects. He is also a mouse trainer, sculptor, and highly skilled self-taught computer artist. He lives with his wife and daughter in a village in West Sussex, England.
This is a great board book for babies because it only contains pictures of babies. Those reading this book can see the varying emotions that babies have, and can begin to recognize those expressions in people they encounter in life. The fact that it contains opposites is also helpful for baby's development.
We have the French edition of this book (Beaucoup de beaux bebes) and my kids just love it, especially the last page where they get to look at themselves! I know about babies seeing things in contrast but I can't help but wish the photos were in colour...
I really liked looking at the babies in this one. I made a sad face when I saw the crying baby, and I loved the baby with the hat! (Even though the hate baby also seemed to be crying...)
