The Man Of Her Dreams His hair was the color of the sun at dawn, his eyes as green as the hills in spring. When she came upon the virile stranger in the dark cave, proud spirited Deborah knew his destiny was inextricably linked to her own. Though she was promised in marriage to another, her second sight told her that this was the man who would one day fight at her side. Though their smoldering passion must be denied for now, his fiery kisses told her that theirs was a love that would one day burst forth in a whirlwind of Lightning and Fire.
The title is clever -- Barak (the hero in the misbegotten tale) means "lightning" and sources say that the heroine was "fiery".
Unfortunately, that may be the only good thing about the book. It tries to be a retelling of the story of Devorah (Deborah) the Prophetess. Unfortunately, it not only ignores all traditional (and other) commentary, it ignores the text itself. All of which might be forgivable if it were done well . . . but alas! The characters are mere caricatures, the plotline is confusing, horrific, and horrifying; the book is bad enough that I actually got rid of it (something I very rarely do).
I read this book ages ago and came across it recently. I remember enjoying it and enjoyed it a second time. The "old style" cover doesn't do this historical romance any good but it is a good read :)
