Les enfants ADORERONT cette histoire mignonne qui leur rappellera l'amour inconditionnel de leurs parents!
In this heartwarming picture book, a mom and dad realize how much love their child has brought to their family. I love you more than all the raindrops falling from the sky... and all of the puddles we splashed in. I love you more than all the blooming springtime flowers... and all the dandelions we made wishes on.
Views of love are forever changed with the wonderful addition of a baby to the family. Parents come to realize that their love is boundless and only keeps growing more than they ever thought possible-more than all the raindrops in the sky, more than all the sand on the beach, and more than all the stars in the sky, proving that the love of a parent is unconditional and unparalleled. Parents will love sharing this sweet story with their child!
Author Gary Urda makes his picture-book debut with Love You More, a sweet missive to his children in which he expresses the depth of his parental affections. Informing his audience that he loves them more than (amongst other things) all the sleepless nights, blades of grass at the park, and snowmen created on wintry days, his simple narrative emphasizes the many good times to be had in the parent-child relationship, as well as the strength and endurance of this most important bond.
As reassurance tales go, I wouldn't say that Love You More made a particularly strong impression on me, as it concerns the narrative. Like some other online reviewers, I was distracted by the fact that the text switches between a first-person singular and first-person plural perspective. Is this meant to be a missive from one parent, or from two? The sentiments behind the text are clearly heartfelt, something emphasized in the author's afterword, when he speaks of his own children, but the list of comparisons itself isn't especially new or thought-provoking. I might have given this a two or two-and-a-half star rating, if I didn't find the soft, pastel-looking illustrations from Jennifer A. Bell so appealing. It is primarily to fans of the artist that I would recommend the book, as I think there are better examples of the "reassurance tale" out there.
Thank you to @littlebeebooks for the free review copy. All opinions are my own. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 First of all, the ILLUSTRATIONS in this book are breathtakingly beautiful! The gentle settings on every page, as well as the expressive faces on every character add so much to this sweet book. Gary Urda has written a story that will be familiar to many. It begins with the day a new baby comes home and follows the family as the child grows. It describes the little moments of our everyday lives - walking the dog, watching the raindrops fall, playing in the waves, jumping in the leaves and making snowmen during the first snowfall. Moments we might not notice during our busy lives, but moments when we look back, have added so much joy to our family. And on each double page, the parents share words to assure the child of their love, with the repeated phrase “I love you more than …”. The phrase describes each lovely illustration, such as “I love you more than all the blooming flowers and all the dandelions we make wishes on”.
This would make a great gift for a baby shower, or for any family with little ones. It offers the reassurance that they are loved and always will be.
While this is a cute book with a great premise, touching backstory, and lovely illustrations, it annoyed me to read it. Where was the editor before this book went to print? Why does the author change the narrator from "we" to "I" and then back to "we"? Why does he change from present to past tense and back again pretty much on every other line? If those things were fixed, I'd give it a 4, if not a 5, star rating.
Note: I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
This picture book is a great illustration of a parents love for their child(ren). The mom and dad throughout the book explain to the son how much more love they have than ‘fish in the sea’ ‘stars in the sky’ The illustrations are perfectly drawn to show the different ways. A great book to read to your kids to teach the the amount of love you have.
This fantastic book captures how immeasurable our love is for our children and all those small moments that that make up our brief time with them. I hope the reader realizes that the author is trying to remind them to appreciate every chance they have to spend with their children. Read it to your child over and over, reminding them (and you) how much you love them. They grow up so fast...
As a little baby grows up his parents relive all the events they shared, expressing that the love they have for him is beyond all those events. Cute phrases and soft coloured illustrations are a great reminder to young ones what it means to be a family.
A lovely parent loves child book where a every two page spread features a mom on one page and a dad ont eh other telling their child they love them more than something. A perfect baby and up pick
I picked up this book to read while shopping at Target. I loved how each page spread worked together in a pair. It made for a unique and interesting format that other writers would enjoy emulating.
