Un debito ereditato mette Mia Matthews di fronte alla persona che detesta di più in assoluto, o meglio allo stereotipo che Tenor Butler incarna, ovvero quello dell’uomo spavaldo, ricco e sfacciatamente bello che non deve chiedere mai. L’unico modo per ripagare quel debito sarà chiudere la sua attività e mettersi alle dipendenze del suo diretto rivale, ma si sa, i pregiudizi sono fatto apposta per essere abbattuti.
Dopo un prologo super scoppiettante che faceva presagire fuoco e fiamme, il tono narrativo è drasticamente cambiato e la trama risulta a parere mio del tutto inconsistente. Mia purtroppo si è rivelata la classica donna battagliera che perde tutto il suo mordente dinnanzi alla bellezza maschile e Tenor, il super imprenditore del nuovo millennio, non regge minimamente la sua fama. Aspettavo il ritorno nel bel paese di Tara Sue Me ma devo dire che sono rimasta delusa.

I can remember really enjoying previous books by this author but this was very odd, the plot jumped around going off in all sorts of implausible directions and the insta love wasn’t convincing either. Not for me.

Per quanto non mi fossi prefissata grandi aspettative su questo romanzo, devo ammettere che sono rimasta piacevolmente colpita dallo stile fluido e scorrevole e dalla piega divertente e comica che, spesso e volentieri, prende la trama.
Non c’è poi molto da dire, in breve la storia tratta di un’impiegata che sviluppa una forte attrazione sessuale per il suo capo il quale, nonostante ricambi a pieno, non vuole rompere la regola di non intrattenere rapporti con le sue dipendenti. “Che banalità”, direte! Lo penserei anch’io se leggessi questa frase, ma mi ricrederei dopo aver letto questa frizzante storia.
Sì, perché non è come sembra e Mia non è un’impiegata qualunque, ma in passato era proprietaria, assieme a sua madre, di un’agenzia di incontri nel centro di Boston: la madre si occupava della gestione finanziaria, mentre Mia del rapporto con i clienti. Non aspiravano a diventare ricche con quell’attività, ma ci pagavano le bollette e potevano dire di amare il loro lavoro. Quando la madre morì in un tragico incidente, Mia venne a conoscenza che la loro agenzia, che lei sapeva, se non florida, in buone condizioni, non navigava in acque esattamente limpide: la madre aveva chiesto un prestito, abbastanza ingente, che poi non era stata in grado di saldare, mettendo l’attività come garanzia. Ma non era solo la cifra elevata che aveva lasciato Mia sbalordita (cosa doveva farci sua madre con quei soldi e perché lei non ne sapeva nulla?), ma anche la persona a cui era stata chiesta: Tenor Butler, proprietario dell’agenzia d’incontri più famosa di Boston e loro concorrente sulla piazza.
Uomini come lui a Mia non erano mai piaciuti perché agivano, in campo lavorativo, con un modus che lei non capiva e non condivideva, trovando le loro procedure standard e impersonali. Per lei creare un abbinamento, un incontro tra due potenziali anime gemelle, era una forma d’arte, mentre per Tenor non era altro che compilare un questionario a scelta multipla.
Che succede, quindi? Adesso Mia ha un debito verso quest’uomo che lei reputa una carogna, ma che durante il loro primo incontro si comporterà con una gentilezza e sensibilità che lasceranno la nostra protagonista spiazzata. Oh, ma non temete, non saranno certo solo quelle qualità a mozzarle il fiato: Tenor è un uomo dotato di estremo fascino e totale intelligenza, qualità che cattureranno Mia e il suo desiderio. Per saldare il debito sarà costretta a chiudere la sua agenzia e lavorare per la concorrenza, cosa abbastanza umiliante e imbarazzante, direi, ma Mia è molto più della maga degli abbinamenti dietro le quinte della propria azienda: è determinata, forte e coraggiosa e per nulla intenzionata a lasciarsi mettere i piedi in testa da nessuno.
Che dirvi di Tenor? Lui è un uomo d’affari con le palle quadrate, una reputazione ineccepibile e senza la minima traccia di scorrettezza, ma Mia non si sbagliava poi tanto nel definirlo una carogna: non sarà un bastardo, ma non è nemmeno un innocente angioletto. Vi anticipo solo che Tenor l’ha sempre voluta nella sua azienda per via del suo talento, ma non la vorrebbe solo come dipendente, ma anche come donna. Farla entrare nel suo staff vorrà dire che non avrà mai l’unica donna che abbia mai desiderato, perché Tenor Butler non si porta a letto le sue dipendenti. Che cosa ne deducete? Intenso desiderio = Follia. Follia + Intenso desiderio = GROSSI GUAI!
Cos’altro posso dire? La trama non è poi molto diramata, si incentra solo sul rapporto tra i due protagonisti e parte in quarta, senza perdersi in chiacchiere durante l’evolversi delle vicende. È narrata in prima persona a pov alterni con dialoghi divertenti, ironici e maliziosi. Non mancheranno colpi di scena, tensione e ingiustizie, fattori che hanno dato più enfasi alla storia senza farla sfociare nel classico e sdolcinato romance, ma il pezzo forte sono le pochissime scene sessuali (con mia grande gioia) e la realisticità con cui sono narrate. Tante volte abbiamo letto di approcci sessuali in cui venivano chieste e descritte le misure dell’arnese maschile, ma siamo sincere, non accade quasi mai nella realtà. Qui non troverete nulla di tutto questo, ma bensì banali e tipici commenti che a tutti, almeno una volta nella vita, sono usciti di bocca durante il ménage e vi assicuro che, nonostante l’eros, non potrete fare a meno di ridere a crepapelle nel leggerli, riconoscendovi anche, magari. Una trama non certo originale ed eclatante, ma divertente e scacciapensieri, adatta a tutti coloro che vogliono tirarsi su l’umore senza rinunciare a quel tocco di romance che non guasta mai. Abbiate pazienza per gli errori grammaticali, amici lettori!

Salve lettrici,
“Mister Tentazione” di Tara Sue Me è il romanzo di cui vi parlo oggi, edito Newton Compton editori.
Il libro racconta la storia di Mia Matthews che, a causa di un imprevisto, è costretta ad andare a lavorare presso gli uffici dell’uomo che, per un pregiudizio, odia.
Tenor Butler è la concorrenza di Mia, ma non è per questo che non può vederlo.
Entrambi lavorano nello stesso settore ma, secondo Mia, Tenor è un uomo arrogante, presuntuoso e, sempre secondo il prevenuto giudizio di Mia, che non fa il suo lavoro con passione.
A causa dei debiti che le ha lasciato sua madre, Mia è costretta a bussare negli uffici di Tenor e lui si rivelerà tutt’altro che arrogante.
Tenor sarà molto generoso con Mia, le offrirà un lavoro e la farà innamorare, anche se è contro ogni etica dell’azienda.
Come potete vedere, lettrici, questo romanzo non ha nulla di innovativo.
La storia di Mia e Tenor è sentita e risentita e non mi ha conquistato più del dovuto.
Non sono riuscita a farmi coinvolgere da questa storia, che sembra essere stata scritta troppo velocemente.
È una storia breve, tutto corre alla velocità della luce, nessun dettaglio viene curato attentamente.
L’odio che i due protagonisti dovrebbero provare l’uno per l’altro, così come la loro attrazione e la personalità dei due, non sono curati affatto.
Avrei preferito più dettagli, più emozioni e più attenzione alle personalità dei personaggi, che cambiano umore come se niente fosse.
Nonostante ciò, devo dire che la storia coinvolge, non annoia e regala un’oretta piacevole.
“Mister Tentazione” è quella che si definisce una lettura piacevole, poco impegnativa e veloce, ma sicuramente non resterà impressa nella mia memoria.
La consiglio solo a chi cerca un libro veloce, dolce e semplice.
Questa storia, inoltre, sembra che apra una nuova serie di libri autoconclusivi.
Sono curiosa di scoprire se con i prossimi volumi resterò più soddisfatta.

Vi dirò che la bravura di Tara Sue Me non è magicamente svanita: concisa, asciutta, diretta ed empatica, ha tirato fuori nel giusto numero di pagine la giusta storia d’amore.
Così deve essere scritto un contemporary romance, a mio avviso. Lo stile mai troppo divagato, frasi asciutte ma fortemente evocative, nessun ghirigoro che appesantisce il ritmo narrativo ed ecco che la storia di Mia e Tenor è servita su un piatto d’argento.
Lei: colpita da un lutto e dalla crisi professionale.
Lui: autorevole nel suo campo, vincente e non abituato a mettersi in discussione.
I protagonisti sono due personalità forti ma ugualmente compatibili, realistici e mai troppo lontani dalla realtà.
L’attrazione dei loro primi dialoghi è istantanea senza mai essere forzata così come l’evoluzione del plot.
Magistrali le poche, anzi direi giuste, scene erotiche. Perché non c’è bisogno di sapere quanto misura un membro maschile per sapere che c’è dell’eros e non c’è bisogno nemmeno di sapere quanto e come dura un rapporto sessuale per percepire della carnalità.

I admit the main reason I took this book was because of the title. I'm a self-proclaimed lover of the book boyfriends who are alpha, anti-heroes, cocky, confident, and don't turn into softies or do a 180 once they fall in love. The ass holes and the take no shit guys. They just do it for me way more than the "boy next doors" or the "betas". So you'll get why I'm shocked and disappointed that the title seems to be just there for shock value or bait and switch. Tenor was not an ass hole or even a semi-jerk. He was super sweet and a real nice guy. The title makes no sense and it bothers me a lot.
The story itself moved really fast and was very predictable. It's the typical rich guy swoops in and saves the day with his billions. The resolution to their "conflict" just did not do it for me at all. The reason I'm still giving it 3 starts? Well that's because I know Tara's writing is good. The characters did have good chemistry and there was no issues there. I just would have liked to have seen a bit more of an original story line and a better resolution. Well that and a different title that actually matched the book.

Reading the synopsis, I admit that I was intrigued and as I did not know the author, I thought it was a good opportunity to discover her writing.
After her mother’s death in a car accident, Mia discovers that her mother had borrowed a quarter of a million dollars from their competitor and she does not know how she will be able to repay it. But now, he offers a deal difficult to refuse: to close her dating agency and to come to work for him. What will complicate the deal, however, is when our two heroes will discover that they are attracted to each other, but is not it forbidden between boss and employee?
I did not expect to find a short novel, but it’s not too disturbing in itself. The story itself was nice to read even if not necessarily hyper original. I would have also hoped to be a little more excited by the whole story but it allowed me to spend a light and good time overall.

I am so glad I got my hands on this. I haven't read anything by Tara in a long while and I had forgotten how much I like her writing.
I'm not sure how to classify this...enemies-to-lovers, maybe, since Mia had a preconceived idea about Tenor and she didn't like him. It was definitely an office romance. And it was great.
I'm looking forward to the next one in the series and I look forward to seeing what happens with Piers.

Avevo bisogno da un po’ di tempo di una lettura leggera e fresca, pronta a sdrammatizzare le mie giornate e stuzzicare i miei sensi. Mister Tentazione è stata la mia soluzione e un bel ponte di salvataggio per la risoluzione del mio blocco da lettore. Una trama che sembrava preannunciare una banalità, ma che in realtà mi ha sorpreso positivamente, nonostante andassi a vuoto per la mia mancata conoscenza dell’autrice.
Mia Matthews è in una fase della sua vita in cui vorrebbe solo sprofondare nell’abisso più profondo. Dopo la morte di sua madre, si è ritrovata a gestire la sua agenzia di incontri da sola. Subire una perdita così grande non è semplice e la voglia di riscattarsi e di ricominciare è svanita da un po’, ma Mia non può abbandonare il frutto del lavoro dei loro sogni che per anni le ha aiutate a campare e perciò continua per la sua strada, fin quando una chiamata le cambierà la vita.
Un prestito. Un debito da pagare. Soldi che sua madre ha chiesto e che, ora che è morta, è Mia a doverli restituire. Non sarebbe un grande problema, se quei soldi non provenissero dall’ultima persona al mondo che Mia vorrebbe incontrare, Tenor Butler.
Parlare con Mia era una ventata d’aria fresca. A differenza delle donne con cui uscivo, non cercava di essere niente che non fosse davvero. Era semplicemente Mia, prendere o lasciare. Non sembrava importarle. E io volevo prendere. Ripetutamente.
Affascinante, dispotico, arrogante, presuntuoso e soprattutto suo competitor. Tenor possiede anch’egli un’agenzia di incontri e utilizza metodi che a Mia non vanno per niente giù. Lo reputa banale, poco creativo e scontato ma, chissà per quale motivo, è l’agenzia di Tenor ad avere più entrate e non riesce a capirne il motivo. Come è possibile che sua madre abbia chiesto dei soldi proprio a lui? Mia sembra una donna fragile e insicura, ma in realtà dentro di sé nasconde una grande forza e un’anima battagliera che mi ha piacevolmente sorpreso. Non si può far mettere i piedi in testa da uno come Tenor e, quando decide di incontrarlo, le sue sicurezze vacillano e resta impalata di fronte a tanto carisma e virilità.
In quel momento, però, seduta accanto a lui, tutto impallidiva in confronto al desiderio che provavo. Non volevo desiderarlo, ma alla mia voglia non sembrava importare.
Tenor è stupendo, un mix di provocazioni e frecciatine stuzzicanti e quando le verrà proposto di lavorare con lui, tutto in lei diventa ancor più confuso e incomprensibile, ma d’altronde lei ha un prezzo da pagare e non potrebbe mai rifiutare un’offerta del genere, dal momento che è sola in un’attività che potrebbe fallire. Tenor e Mia inizieranno a lavorare insieme, sempre più assiduamente, e Tenor si renderà conto di aver fatto la scelta più sbagliata che poteva fare. Come può avere una dipendente che appena passa davanti ai suoi occhi, non riesce a smettere di fissarla? Sarà difficile mantenere una certa compostezza e professionalità perché quando ci si mette di mezzo l’attrazione e la chimica è difficile darsi una calmata, soprattutto per uno come Tenor che non ha mai avuto problemi con le donne.
Anche Mia avrà serie difficoltà, perché in Tenor vede qualcosa di profondo, qualcosa che lui nasconde dietro la sua faccia da schiaffi e l’atteggiamento da sbruffone. È un uomo che sa il fatto suo e trasuda potere, sicurezza e un’inaspettata dolcezza. Basterà un tocco, un bacio per mettere a repentaglio tutto ed entrambi capiranno che ciò che sta nascendo non è solo una nottata di divertimento, ma qualcosa di più. E quando ci si mette il cuore, sappiamo come va a finire!

Questo libro mi è piaciuto molto, perché l’autrice senza troppi giri di parole, senza troppe decorazioni lessicali, è riuscita a raccontare una storia con uno stile semplice e ritmicamente scorrevole, concisa e diretta, chiara e comprensibile. Anche i personaggi sono ben delineati, peccato la brevità del romanzo perché mi sarebbe piaciuto scoprire di più su di loro e mentre ero in procinto di conoscerli ero già quasi alla fine delle pagine. Essendo però un romanzo breve, devo dire che non c’è stato niente di arronzato e tutti gli elementi erano in perfetto equilibrio. Non avevo mai letto niente di suo ed è la sua scrittura ad avermi rapita, si nota il suo talento e stavolta è stato impiantato in un romanzo breve, leggero e frizzante. Non vedo l’ora di leggere qualcosa di più strong, ma per ora mi accontento del fantastico Mister Tentazione!

Carissime cercatrici son qui oggi a parlarvi del nuovo libro di Tara Sue Me “Mister Tentazione”. Con il primo libro della serie incontriamo Mr. Tenor Butler in tutta la sua gloria. La storia anche se forse è poco originale porta a una nuova interpretazione di una storia d'amore. Non sviluppato perfettamente, ma comunque divertente. Mia Matthews dopo un evento tragico si ritroverà a far delle difficili scelte e proprio il suo più grande nemico e concorrente potrebbe aiutarla. Non lo sopporta e non avrebbe mai accettato di farsi aiutare da lui. Tenor cercherà di trarre beneficio da tutto quel che sta succedendo e farà in modo che la dolce Mia faccia quel che lui vuole.

L’autrice è stata diretta e concisa nella descrizione della storia ed ha tirato fuori con poche pagine una bellissima storia d’amore. Consiglio questo libro a tutti coloro che cercano una storia leggera.

Mia and Tenor's first meet is not under the best conditions. After Mia's mother died unexpectedly, she finds out that Tenor loan her a quarter of a million dollars. Mia wanting to settle a payment with him, she goes to meet him. Tenor, however, has a different idea. He offers Mia a job at his dating agency and he'll write off the debt. The catch is that Mia has to close her dating boutique in order to accept the offer.
There's sexual tension in the air from the first time their eyes meet. Mia doesn't have the best opinion of Tenor, mostly because of the way he runs his dating agency. She's such a strong woman; having lost her mother two weeks prior and now she has to close her job to accept Tenor's offer.
Their attraction is undeniable and their chemistry is off the charts! However, none of them is willing to act on it because of their business relationship. All that it's needed for the sparks to ignite is a business trip to Atlanta and an unfortunate meeting with one of Mia's exes.
This book is sizzling hot! Their night together is explosive and steamy. I was so frustrated with everything that happened next and I was pissed with Tenor's friend/attorney for acting on his own.

Mia Matthews has barely paid Tenor Butler much thought. He's a big shot matchmaker with an even bigger ego, but the douche has been off her radar. That all changes when she finds out he loaned her late business partner a quarter of a million dollars. She's not sure what has her more upset, no one telling her about the loan, the fact that she owes him all of that money or realising just how hot Tenor is.
Tenor doesn't really understand all of Mia's anger. It's hardly his fault she doesn't know about the loan. He even has gone as far as generously agreeing to forgive it, if she closes her matchmaking business and works for him for five years. As he gets closer to Mia, he realizes he wants her for a lot more than an employee and that she really hates him. Surely a talented matchmaker like himself can work around that slight issue? Maybe they could have a shot at something real, but someone from the past may just jeopardize any chance these two matchmakers have at finding a match of their own.
This was a fun book. I always enjoy Tara Sue Me and this is a different story than one may be used to if you have read her Submission series. Tenor is the kind of male lead you just love to hate that slowly works his way under your skin. I loved watching him and Mia go at it. A very enjoyable read and a great start to a new series.

3.5 STARS An enemies to lovers romance that moved fast and entertained. As matchmaker competitors Mia and Tenor were on opposite sides of the fence on how to match up couples. Mia was very thorough and thoughtful while Tenor took the laid back approach which had Mia pegging him as an asshole. A sad turn of events resulted in Mia closing her company and working for Tenor. Mia soon found out there was more to Tenor that what she thought and he was far from being an asshole...well for the most part. Tenor was smitten from the start and an out of town trip leads to an emotional trauma for Mia and Tenor coming to her rescue. After, the sexy times ensue between the two. It's inevitable with their undeniable attraction and steamy chemistry. But trouble finds them when they return. Misunderstandings and interfere from a close friend leads to separation both with their work and personal relationships. Will they work it out? A well written story with likable characters but it was a little too pat for me. The set up for drama seemed off and the resolution fell flat. And the title had me squinting. Tenor was a really nice guy and not an asshole to Mia. The terrific characters made this an enjoyable read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

The book was shorter than I expected. I wanted a full-length novel and I believe that the story would have been much better if it had 30-50 more pages. Where was a trust-issue thing and I was like "well, you know each other for a few days, how can you expect to trust someone when you barely know them?" That's the thing I sometimes don't like about short novels. The characters don't have enough time to build something solid.
That was the only bad part of the book and I loved the rest of it. American asshole is a great beginning for the bachelor international series as it opens the door for more stories and yet the spotlight is not taken from the main couple. Wren is going to see her Italian guy again I guess in the next book. There is no way that the Italian man Mia and Tenor were talking about his not the man of Wren's past. I bet my bookworm card on it. And even though I hated him during the time I was reading the book, I have started to believe that Tenor's friend is not the villain and that what he did was for Mia and Tenor's own good, so I want his book where he will be redeemed.

Oh man, poor Mia Matthews! She’s had a tough go of things since her mother’s passing. Her mother was just her mother but also her business partner. A partner in a small, successful matchmaking firm. She’s keeping her head above water as she works through trying to figure out how to keep the firm successful when she learns her mother took out a loan against the business unbeknownst to her. A loan from a competitor. And one she can’t repay.
Tenor Butler didn’t count on the feelings he’d have once Mia accepts the loan forgiveness requirements he demands. Feelings like guilt for negotiating the loan only with her mother. Feelings like lust and potentially love if she could just get over her hatred of him.
Their romance is not an easy one. These enemies take their good ol’ time becoming lovers. And while I really liked both Mia and Tenor, their romance and the storyline were relatively predicable. I’m curious as to how this series will develop. This is a super quick read that I had trouble putting down! Mia and her mother own a “find your true match” business and when Mia’s mother passes away Mia learns that she’d borrowed a large sum of money from their competitor whom Mia has deemed ‘the a**hole’. Tenor Buter knew giving Mia’s mother the loan she’d requested would wind up in a loss for him but he also knew he wanted Mia working for his company – when Mia’s mother unexpectedly passed away Tenor makes an offer she can’t refuse; an amazing job at his company. As soon as the two meet the attraction is immediate but Tenor can’t sleep with an employee and once she signs the paperwork anything happening between the two is off the tables…
I think my main complaint about this book was that there wasn’t more – some parts I wanted a more in-depth detail on and the ending is very abrupt. Other than that though it’s a great story and definitely a very quick pace. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to Bachelor International #2! *Side note - I really don't think this title goes well with the book. Mia thinks, before she meets him, that Tenor is going to be an ass... other than that he's an absolute gentleman and it was unexpected with a title like that. Still a great read though!

Mia si troverà costretta ad accettare l'offerta di Tenor di lavorare come sua dipendente nella sua azienda di incontri. Lei odia gli uomini fatti come lui: donnaioli, arroganti e insopportabili; insomma tutto ciò a cui lei è sempre stata alla larga. Però la loro attrazione sarà forte e immediata, difficile da ignorare e resistere.
Tenor ha una regola ben precisa però: non portarsi a letto le sue dipendenti tanto meno innamorarsi di loro! Riuscirà ad ignorare i propri sentimenti per Mia e resistere alla sua attrazione?
La trama del libro mi ha subito incuriosito, ma avrei preferito sicuramente un racconto più dettagliato dei fatti e forse più attenzione alla personalità e ai pensieri dei vari personaggi.
Il libro è incentrato esclusivamente sul rapporto di Mia e Tenor che si “accende” già dai primi capitoli (forse un po' troppo velocemente)!
Sicuramente è una lettura abbastanza piacevole, veloce e poco impegnativa; scritta bene e con dialoghi divertenti e ironici.
Spero che i prossimi libri della serie, siano più avvincenti e coinvolgenti da lasciare il segno.

Oggi vorrei parlarvi del libro "Mister Tentazione" di Tara Sue Me.
Mia è la giovane donna protagonista di questo libro, comproprietaria con sua madre di un'agenzia di incontri.
Purtroppo la madre morirà in un incidente d'auto assieme a una loro carissima amica e successivamente a questo evento Mia scoprirà di essere piena di debiti: la madre aveva chiesto un prestito molto alto, oltre che mettere l'attività come garanzia.
Il problema non sarà solo il debito decisamente rilevante da restituire, ma il beneficiario di tutto ciò: Tenor Butler.
L'uomo, protagonista maschile del romanzo, è il diretto concorrente di Mia, anche lui proprietario di un'agenzia di incontri, anzi, una delle più importanti e conosciute agenzie. Ma non è per questo che Mia lo detesta profondamente, il suo risentimento è dovuto al metodo di approccio impersonale che lui utilizza per organizzare appuntamenti,[...]

He's no gentleman, but he's all heart. He just doesn't know it yet. American Asshole takes personality clashes on with an arrogant jerk and his headstrong rival. Tenor may be his own worst enemy. His bark, has nothing on his bite. Business is the name of the game and he's about to get schooled in matters of the heart. The battle of the dueling matchmakers takes a knock out punch when the man with no heart discovers he just might have met his match. Mia could be his happy ending, if he tones down his pride and listens to his heart. American Asshole is what happens when love gone wrong, comes right. Electricity is the star of the show and this couple makes sure you feel the burn.

The premise is entertaining; the romance is seductive; the characters are intelligent and strong. My only complaint is the title-I dislike the title, and I am disappointed as this was not the original designation. I see no other explanation than shock value, something I believe cheapens the entire novel.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Mia and Tenor) AMERICAN ASSHOLE follows the building relationship between independent businesswoman Mia Matthews, and businessman Tenor Butler. Upon the recent accidental death of her mother and business partner Dee Matthews, Mia discovered that her mother was in debt for a quarter of a million dollars to their main competitor Tenor Butler, the man with whom Mia would fall in love. Tenor will make Mia an offer that is too good to be true, an offer that places Mia in the direct line of contact. What ensues is the quick building relationship both personal and professional between Mia and Tenor, and the fall-out as Mia’s credibility is questioned by someone with the power to destroy her life.

AMERICAN ASSHOLE is a quick read; a story of betrayal and heartbreak; an emotional tale about one woman as she comes to terms with the loss of everything, and one man who battles between right and wrong. The premise is entertaining; the romance is seductive; the characters are intelligent and strong. My only complaint is the title-I dislike the title, and I am disappointed as this was not the original designation. I see no other explanation than shock value, something I believe cheapens the entire novel.

Questo più o meno è quello che accade alla nostra protagonista.
Ma partiamo dall’inizio…
Mia Matthews è una giovane ragazza molto sveglia ed intraprendente che, insieme alla madre, è comproprietaria della Cross My Heart, un’agenzia di incontri con sede nel cuore di Boston.
La madre si occupa dei conti mentre lei fa magie nel rapporto con i clienti.
Ma, quando la madre viene improvvisamente a mancare, due settimane dopo il funerale, viene a sapere che questa si è indebitata fino al collo.
250.000 dollari, un quarto di milione di debiti ma, visto che, al peggio, non vi è mai fine, il denaro lo ha chiesto in prestito al loro più acerrimo nemico, il loro concorrente più spietato: Tenor Butler.
Ternor è il proprietario della Bachelor International, la più importante agenzia di appuntamenti di Boston, il suo impero è conosciuto in tutto il mondo e chiunque vorrebbe lavorare nella sua azienda.
Chiunque, tranne Mia che è abituata a creare empatia con i clienti, a “mash-upparli” o “macht-upparli” grazie all’empatia, la conoscenza reciproca e le emozioni che questi riescono a suscitare in lei e non, come fa Tenor, per mezzo di supidi questionari a risposta multipla.
Ma questa, è l’unica opzione possibile per poter restituire il debito al suo concorrente.
Lavorare insieme non è semplice, soprattutto perché Tenor è un uomo estremamente affascinante e sin dal loro primo incontro, non si è dimostrato la carogna che aveva immaginato, ma è dolce, gentile, premuroso e disponibile.
Si alzò quando entrai. Ora: non avevo mai incontrato Tenor di persona, di lui avevo visto solo qualche vecchia fotografia. Più che altro di quando mamma e io eravamo agli inizi dell’attività e avevamo fatto una ricerca sui nostri concorrenti. Sapevo che era d’aspetto piacevole, ma–cavolo!–non mi aspettavo che fosse così piacevole. I capelli spettinati-eppure-oltremodo-sexy erano di una tonalità a metà tra il castano scuro e il nero, in netto contrasto con l’azzurro dei suoi occhi. Il corpo sembrava scolpito da un artista rinascimentale e la leggera ricrescita sul mento gli conferiva un’aria dimessa che non faceva che renderlo ancora più attraente. E le labbra? Signore, aiutami, le avrei volute ovunque. Sentii un calore diffuso, come se avesse acceso il riscaldamento, e mi resi effettivamente conto che era passato quasi un anno dall’ultima volta in cui un uomo mi aveva posato le labbra addosso.
La tensione sessuale tra i due è sorprendente, la chimica reciproca impossibile da sottovalutare.
Al momento del dessert, avevo seri problemi. In tutti quegli anni avevo pensato solo a portarla a lavorare nella mia azienda, e ora che sembrava che finalmente potesse accadere, sbagliavo tutto. Non la volevo per l’azienda, la volevo per me. Non come dipendente, ma come donna.
Mai in passato, nel cuore di Tenor si era accesa una tale intesa con una donna, ma lei è una sua dipendente ora e, per quanto lui sia un bastardo al quadrato con doppio contorno di bugie e carognate, intraprendere un qualsiasi rapporto al di fuori di quello professionale è totalmente inappropriato.
«Quando pensi all’uomo perfetto per te, non è mai totalmente perfetto, no? Anche se ti tiene sempre aperta la porta e aiuta le vecchiette ad attraversare la strada, tu vuoi che sia anche un po’ cattivo, giusto?»
Mettete però nel quadro un viaggio di lavoro improvvisato, un ex molto “appiccicoso” e due camere l’una di fianco all’altra ed il ritratto è completo.
Nulla sarà in realtà semplice.
Seppur la trama sia leggera e il dramma di rapida risoluzione, Tara Sue Me in Mister Tentazione è stata capace di donarci un paio di colpi di scena che, anche se solo per qualche istante, hanno saputo insinuare il seme del dubbio nel lettore.
Mia e Tenor sono due personaggi imperfetti.
Lei, forte e coraggiosa, nulla le fa perdere la calma nemmeno i 250.000 dollari che dovrà restituire per un motivo a lei sconosciuto.
È la maga degli abbinamenti e Tenor questo lo sa perfettamente, per questo motivo la vuole nella sua azienda, non si accontenta di meno che del meglio e Mia, nel suo campo è la migliore.
Lui invece, contrariamente alle apparenze, o meglio, a quanto descritto da Mia attraverso il suo POV, è tutt’altro che un bastardo, è un grande lavoratore, generoso ed onesto e poi, è Mister Tentazione. Che ve lo dico a fare!
Insieme sono una dolce miscela fruttata, uno di quei cocktail che sorseggeresti su una spiaggia incontaminata, accaldata dall’arsura estiva e, come questi cocktail, un difetto ce l’ha: dura troppo poco.
Avrei desiderato leggere di più, approfondire maggiormente la loro conoscenza e assaporare ancora qualche breve sorso della loro storia.
Questo è forse, l’unico difetto che ho trovato in Mister Tentazione: la sua brevità.
Mi auguro quindi che, nel prossimo capitolo della serie dedicato a Wren, la migliore amica di Mia, la carne al fuoco sia maggiore e che magari ritroveremo Mia e Tenor con qualche incursione ironica e divertente, come ci hanno abituate in questa lettura.

Romance and Fantasy for Cosmopolitan Girls
Tara Sue Me torna in Italia con Mister Tentazione, primo libro che compone la serie Bachelor International, grazie a NC, con un genere più soft e meno erotico rispetto alla serie Il gioco di Abby. I romanzi LEI, LUI e infine NOI, mi avevano tenuto incollata al libro, non che con questo non sia successo, sia chiaro, ma mi è mancato qualcosa, non so però spiegare bene cosa.
Il romanzo trova come protagonisti Mia e Tenor, il libro è diviso in pov alterni, è scorrevole e lo si legge volentieri. E' una bella storia.
Mia è giovane, bella e ha appena perso tutto. Sua madre, la sua socia, il suo marciapiede, il centro del suo mondo è venuto a mancare all'improvviso, l'incidente stradale in cui è stata coinvolta ha visto morire con lei anche Opa, la migliore amica della madre di Mia. Mia e la madre gestivano una piccola agenzia di incontri, incontri studiati basati su statistiche valide, nel loro piccolo erano brave, ma ora Mia dovrà fare i conti con alcuni debiti lasciati dalla madre... La madre per non dare preoccupazioni alla figlia, per quanto riguardava la parte finanziaria, si è sempre occupata da sola di tutto, ma ha dovuto chiedere un aiuto, un prestito a Tenor Butler. La nemesi di Mia.
Per lei riscriverei quel cazzo di vademecum dei dipendenti.
Quell'ultimo tocco di penna decretò che l'unica donna che avessi mai voluto non l'avrei mai avuta.
Tenor è proprietario della più florida agenzia di incontri di Boston se non di tutta la costa est e ha tutta l'intenzione di ampliarsi. Mia non riuscirà mai a sdebitarsi con lui, l'unica cosa che può fare è accettare la proposta di Tenor e andare a lavorare per lui... anche se sarà una vera impresa cercare di non desiderarsi dal momento che sono attratti l'uno dall'altra.
Avrebbe potuto chiedermi la luna e avrei fatto di tutto per portargliela.
Rendeva tutto migliore. Semplicemente perché era come era.
Mai, mai, Tenor Butler ha desiderato una donna quanto desidera Mia, ma non può averla perché è il suo capo. Quello che gli paga lo stipendio, non dovrebbe guardarla e volerla. Tanto meno volerla per sempre. Anche Mia lo brama con la stessa intensità e sarà proprio in una trasferta ad Atlanta che tutto finirà o inizierà... dipende dal punto di vista. In più, dietro l'angolo c'è sempre qualcuno che è pronto a rovinare un rapporto. Saranno abbastanza forti i nostri protagonisti da superare le avversità? Riporranno fiducia reciproca o crederanno a quello che si dice?

Questa massima sarebbe da appendere in camera!
Che piacevole sorpresa, gente. Iniziare a leggere questo libro mi ha dato un forte senso di deja vu. Quanti office romance abbiamo letto in cui il capo, apparentemente uno stronzo senza cuore, è in realtà prima attratto e poi innamorato perso della sua dipendente tartassata e oberata di ogni incarico? Eppure vi dico di non fermarvi alla prima impressione.
La storia è scritta in doppio POV alternato, e arrivata al secondo capitolo, in cui a parlare in prima persona è lui, Mister Tentazione, non sono già più riuscita a staccarmi. Al di là dell’inconfutabile fatto che più della trama conta quanto sia accattivante la scrittura e quanto siano ben dipinti i personaggi, in grado di farci emozionare, il nostro protagonista non è per niente uno stronzo del tipo solito che conosciamo. Ma di più ovviamente non posso dirvi.
Avete presente quando svolgi un lavoro, e magari lo fai anche bene, e magari ti appassiona perfino? Non puoi non notare anche altri che fanno il tuo stesso lavoro, guardare come lo fanno, quanta energia ci dedichino, quanto amore ci infondano. Può essere che tu voglia copiare qualche loro trovata, trarre ispirazione dal loro modo di fare. È ciò che capita a Tenor Butler: nota Mia Matthews e la vuole nella sua azienda, colpito dalle sue capacità.
Peccato che conoscerla ed esserne quindi attratto diventi poi la sua personale e magnifica ossessione.
E brava Tara. Questa è la vera novità: notare prima le capacità di una donna e soltanto poi la sua avvenenza. Abbiamo un cervello e qualcuno lo nota, evviva.
E Mia? Acuta e osservatrice, anche lei studia il suo capo, Mister Tentazione. Entrambi si studiano come due avversari che si preparino al duello, aspettandosi un passo falso. Ma passo falso di chi? Dell’altro o di se stessi? E se il passo falso fosse proprio scoprirsi compatibili?
Parafrasando Mia, anch’io vi raccomando di non dare nulla per scontato. Mister Tentazione è certo un romanzo rosa di puro divertimento, ma non banale come può sembrare di primo acchito.
Leggere per credere.
E ora però voglio il seguito, Tara! Voglio anche la storia di Piers, e quella di Wren.

I really liked Mia and I was mad at the situation that her mom put her in. I know her mom had good intentions but unfortunately it left Mia in a very bad situation. Mia was a great character though and I loved her sass.
Tenor was interesting as he was a good guy but then again he was not. He knew ahead of time that there was no way that Mia's mom would be able to pay him back but he still loaned her the money hoping for an outcome that favored him. Yet he was also a good guy when it came to protecting Mia and his jealousy!
There were a few twists and turns that I was not expecting from the incident at the hotel to the conversation that Mia had with Piers Worthington. I was definitely shocked at everything that came from those two events!
I was proud of what Tenor did towards the end and how everything totally fell into place! The end was awesome and definitely worth it!

Yet another book by Tara that’s taken me by surprise. I love her Submissive series, so much so that I’ve re-read it about half a dozen times, so when I found this beauty, and realised Tara had ventured out into a slightly different sub genre of romance,
I knew I had to one click it. Even though it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, I was still intrigued as hell, and I don’t regret it. It was a fantastic read. It kept my attention all the way through. Which has never been problem when it comes to this authors books. I liked it so much so I one-clicked the paperback 1/3 of the way through the book!
This story is an office romance, sort of a enemies to lovers and forbidden story between an employee and boss.

His names Tenor and he’s an absolute asshole and pretty full of himself. So she’s now working for someone she can’t stand. But it doesn’t take long for the chemistry between the two to heat up and even though he’s the worlds biggest asshole, she finds herself strangely attracted to him, and it’s hard not to be. He’s so damn good looking! This turns into a forbidden office romance, between boss and employee.
This was a somewhat fast paced short read, it was funny, entertaining and fun to watch as the charterers developed feelings for each other.
Like always, Tara delivers a well written story, a forbidden love story and a fun and easy read.
