One prince. Two brothers. Three companions to prevent a sorcerer from destroying the faeries.

Prince Killian has always known he’s different. It’d be impossible to miss the whispers of an age-old family curse, to ignore the call of the wolves on his birthnight and the barely-veiled hostility from his people. His family insists there’s no curse. If only they were right.

When an evil sorcerer bent on destroying the faeries turns Killian into a wolf to use in his diabolical spell, Killian must rely on the help of his playboy brother, Lars, and Rose, an aspiring ranger they meet on the road, to escape the sorcerer and find the faeries who can turn him human again.

There’s only one problem. Faeries haven’t been seen in over 50 years.

Together Killian and his companions must overcome their differences and prejudices to defeat malevolent creatures along the road, evade the sorcerer and his minions, and find the faeries before the sorcerer can kill them all.

There are two things keeping this from being a five star read for me: 1) the written dialect (I'm just not a big fan of this, and it's fairly minor as far as dialects go, but the "t'" instead of "the" messed with the flow), and 2) the climatic battle felt slightly rushed to me, but I like my fights, okay?

This was so fun, imaginative, enjoyable, and allllll the bros feels. Oh my goodness, I love Lars and Killian so much! And Rose is awesome, too. I admit, the part of me that just loves shipping is slightly disappointed there was no romance, but the rest of me is like HECK YEAH, healthy platonic close male/female friendships! *punches the air*

This is definitely one of those books I read on ebook but will be getting in paperback because I enjoyed it so much.

4.5. This was a pretty straight forward fantasy. Not a lot of surprises or twists, but still a pretty fun read. I liked the message and the deeper values behind it, so it was still a really good time. I would have loved to see a bit more complexity added to the plot, and the details were really space and simple, undercutting the "wonder" of the fantasy genre, but that is more of a subjective complaint that anything. I really loved the characters. Lars was a favorite, I loved seeing his growth, and Im curious about the fairies. I really liked the family element, and how even the father and uncle were involved. And the ending had a few nice details in it that closed out the story well. Over all, I highly recommend this for some light fantasy reading.

Claire M. Banschbach's best book yet.

This book is:
-A brother story
-Lots of fun
-Often amusing
-Full of Wolves
-An adventure
-Sprinkled with snark
-Not a romance

Our heroes are:

Killian. The wolf prince. Seventeen. Reclusive. Believed to be cursed. Totally lovable. Nice. Epic.

Lars. Killian's big brother. Twenty. Irresponsible. Crown prince. Loves his brother. Protective. Fun. Lovable.

Rose. An aspiring apprentice Ranger. Eighteen or nineteen. On a quest to find her father. Country accent. Super lovable. Down to earth. Fun.

Precautions:
You'll probably laugh.
Some fighting and blood.
You'll probably fall in love with Killian.
Some brief overindulgence in strong drink, shown to be a bad idea.
You may not be able to put it down.

To sum up:
-This book is epic.
-And I love it.
-Give it a read or two. :)

Since I first heard about this book as a work-in-progress, I’ve been in love with the concept and eagerly awaiting its release. Even more so knowing Claire Banschbach as the author who ripped out my heart with her Rise of Aredor series. (I think most readers understand the love-hate relationship between them and books that have effectively crushed your soul and left you heartbroken. And the mistrust of reading a new book by that same author.) So, seeing an ARC in my inbox last week cued actual flailing and pterodactyl shrieks. XD

Three Reasons why I loved this book.
1) The brother/sibling arcs It’s rare to see family relationships, especially between brothers, the central heartthrob of a story, even more rare to see wove in three distinct brother arcs, all while keeping the plot and center of the story moving. The focus on brothers and their relationships between each other, done in such a natural way, made this book for me—the loyal comradery no matter the circumstances, the pigheaded stubbornness that’s such a guy thing, the banter, the real rawness of sibling love—all so realistically captured in this story.

2) Character growth/Coming of age themes While Prince Lars is the one that immediately comes to my mind for this point, in more subtle ways I saw character growth and development with the entire cast, (something I was delighted to see the author grow in since her earlier works.) Prince Lars’s gets center stage, though, I must admit. Never before has he been given such a raw look at the person he is or is viewed as by his people, as now when he’s traveling across the kingdom unable to use his name or title. Not only does Lars grow as he realizes he’s not who he should be as a prince—not the leader he comes to want to be for his people—he also realizes the ways he’s not been there for his younger brother. A great character arc I was quite fascinated with.

3) Adventure Take a moment and re-read that back blurb. You’ve got a quest to undo a spell and all the drama and hilarities of a sibling relationship between a stubborn prince and a younger brother now quite capable of giving literal puppy eyes in his spell-concurred wolf form. Add in an inspiring Ranger with a missing father, evading an evil sorcerer, and hunting for faeries not seen in over 50 years, and, yes, this book has it all.

A very winning tale, I quite enjoyed The Wolf Prince and seeing this author’s writing improve while still keeping the same writing style and elements I loved in her Rise of Aredor series. If I were to have to list any negatives about this novel, I would mention two POV problems I ran across. Sometimes I found it challenging to always know whose thought it was in italics, and at times I found the king and his brother’s POV a tad confusing and out of place, although I loved seeing their relationship. But those were such minor things, I hardly thought twice of them.

I’d recommend this book for older teens and up, as some of the themes are more mature, also being aware that The Wolf Prince is not a Christian fantasy. Huge thanks to Claire M. Banschbach for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own; a positive review was not required.

Adela's Curse, Book 1 of The Faeries of Myrnius, was excellent, but this book kicked things up a notch. Unlike most fantasies featuring curses and wolves, this story is NOT a typical werewolf tale. In fact, there are barely any werewolf elements at all (some near the end, but I won't spoil how those come into play). Instead, what we have here is the story of a prince cursed permanently into the form of an actual wolf, rather than a wolf-man shapeshifter. The reasons for and the mechanics of the curse are also more complex than your average fairy-tale transformation. What really makes this book unique and amazing, however, are the delightful interactions among the three main characters: Killian, the wolf prince; Lars, his older brother who's trying to save him; and Rose, a huntress and would-be Ranger accompanying them on their quest. The slow-burn, initially-antagonistic relationship between Lars and Rose and the brotherly bickering between Lars and Killian are highly entertaining, so much so that I was sorry when the book ended. Plus, these character dynamics work incredibly well even considering the fact that neither of the human characters are able to understand Killian's wolf speech. You wouldn't think that actual dialogue would be possible under those circumstances, but Banschbach pulls it off effortlessly.
As was the case with Adela's Curse, there's a satisfying resolution to the story that does not leave the characters completely unscathed. There's also a great tie-in to Book 1, though readers who aren't familiar with Adela's Curse won't feel lost here--the story is very self-contained. (You should definitely read Book 1, though, to fully enjoy the continuity links in this novel.) "The Wolf Prince" is a refreshing twist on the transformed-protagonist trope that will please any reader who enjoys witty banter and exciting action in their fantasy.

A sweet sequel to Adela's Curse. The new characters had a good sense of humor and fun banter, the action was well-paced and kept the story flowing, and the villain was pleasingly dastardly in his evil plot. Suitable for all ages (though there is some violence). I have to say my favorite part was when the faeries made an appearance and joined in the quest, and I do hope we see more of them in book 3.

I received a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

Fun story! The characters were all quite loveable and I truly enjoyed this fresh and original adventure. I love the way Banschbach desribes Killian, he seems so animated when I imagine him. This story was well crafted.

Love this story!

What’s not to love about a story with a wolf? I loved the adventure and suspense, the return of familiar faces and faerie magic, and wholesome character development. I had some predictions about what was going to happen and enjoyed finding out if I was right. The Killian -Jeppe conversations were the best! The ending left me feeling very happy and a bit teary-eyed. This book was wonderful and I cannot wait for book three!

Marvelous tome—I mean, it doesn't quite fit with the connotation generally associated with the word, tome, but I wanted to say tome, and what more defense do I need, eh? Simply marvelous, this book, by the way.

It has all the good stuff: excellent plot and setting, fine composition and style, exemplary characters, and first-rate magic. And it has to do with wolves, you might say, so there you go! This equals that, as perhaps said somebody upon waking on Saturday last. Where this is that rot I wrote before this and that is an outstanding story, naturally.

But this is bad—I'm trying to review a book and my mind is wandering to that particularly fine specimen of a driver today who I observed race by with speeds that were likely in excess of 118 mph. Let's see if I can focus here.

Okay. This is very hard. Surprisingly so, in fact. Now my mind's drifting casually to the topic of APIs — but enough of this.

Right. Therefore. Whereas I enjoyed this immensely…all that. It was funny, see. It had those moments of funniness I sort of like, see. You ought to read it, see. This review is not working, see. I forgot every bit of what I was going to say, see.

Yep, too bad. Consider this book excellent and highly recommended. Got that? Good. I'm done here, then, and I'm off to reflect on how absolutely true it is that I should attempt to review a book immediately after reading it to save myself from enacting the chain of events that nearly consistently brings about this sad result. Toodle-pip.

Claire Banschbach is hands down one of my favorite fantasy authors. Her stories are full of heart, originality, adventure, and lots of feels.

From start to finish this was a delightful adventure! The brother relationship between Killian and Lars is so heartwarming. Rose makes an excellent companion for the brothers as they set out to break Killian's curse. She's bold and stubborn, but also insecure and vulnerable. Her strengths and her weaknesses seemed very realistic.

The world the author has created is vivid and charming. The perfect world to have adventures in. While there is a curse, a sorcerer, and dark magic (things I don't always enjoy), Banschbach uses these elements tastefully when they are needed for the story. But the vast majority of the narrative focuses on our lovable, yet flawed, trio (Rose, Lars, and Killian).

To sum up, this really is a gem of a book and I'm so glad I found it. I haven't had such a fun adventure in a long time. Claire Banschbach is a masterful storyteller and only getting better!

It's been a while since I've read a fantasy adventure book, and man, did I enjoy this one! ❤️ Killian and all his wolfy snark! The bad guy is powerful and sinister, our heroes are lovable with both flaws and growth, and the world is so interesting with faeries, monsters, and other fantasy creatures. And wolves, of course!

Also, if you've read the first book in the series, you just might see some old friends 😉

This is a beautiful, creative, entertaining fantasy story that has heart and substance. I have long looked forward to reading "The Wolf Prince," and finally reached it on my TBR. The anticipation did not lessen my enjoyment in the slightest.

Some things I loved:
- The key relationships in the series: Two brothers, and a ranger-type girl who becomes their friend. All of the dynamics in this trio were wonderful, including the absence of romance as a focus. But my favorite part was how Banschbach crafted the brother relationship. Killian and Lars weren't perfect, but their affection for and devotion to each other was constant, and I loved it.
- The pseudo-wolf perspective. I can't say any more without giving things away
- The creativity in the premise. It's what drew me to the story, and I loved exploring it more.
- The different types of setting the characters traveled through.
- The tactfulness with which violence was handled.
- The positive parental/mentor dynamics in the story. They weren't a focus, but they were still so good.

Overall, I found this story very refreshing, and I'm eager to read more by Banschbach.

This is a clean non-romantic ya that is suitable for both older and younger readers.

Younger son Prince Killian is whispered to have been cursed with wolf’s blood. He dreads turning out like his crazy uncle who got locked up. When Killian does become a wolf and is hunted by a vengeful sorcerer, he has to rely on his irresponsible brother, a lower-class ranger girl and faeries to escape.

The fun in this lies in: Killian being a wolf and trying to communicate with humans; the brothers and their banter; and the high-born selfish brother clashing with the low-born want-to-be Ranger girl.

This is particularly recommended for those who don’t want or need a romantic outcome - this is really about the older Prince in particular learning to grow up and take responsibility for himself with some drama and the occasional twist along the way.

I'm embarrassed to say it took me until the new year to grab this sequel off my shelf and read it. I liked Adela's Curse, but The Wolf Prince was even better. I can see Claire Banschbach has an affinity for great sibling relationships, catching that balance between love, protectiveness, and annoyance. In this book, the younger brother of two princes carries the family curse. When a vengeful sorcerer is able to twist that curse to meet his own ends, turning him to an actual wolf, the eldest nearly kills his brother in an attempt to satisfy his own guilt over his brother's supposed death by wolf attack. A spunky, resourceful girl whose father went missing meets the younger prince as a wolf and senses he's not normal. She saves his life by a hair's breadth just before his brother kills him. The Wolf Prince, though, is definitely an adventure story. The way the author shows communication between the wolf prince and his companions is fun, as she captures that sass and sibling banter without words. This is a quick read. I'd recommend this book for middle grade readers and older as there is mild sorcery, descriptions of blood and action/violence.

5/5 stars. I loved nearly everything about this book. The Wolf Prince held my attention from the very beginning with a ghost story about a family who is cursed with the ability to understand wolves. The character development is excellent (especially in Lars), and I absolutely loved the dynamic relationships (albeit them being a little cliche)- the hotheadedness of the two brothers, the way they both treat and care for Rose ( what a breath of fresh air). Overall, The Wolf Prince definitely made it to my list of favorites for 2018, and I'm sure it will be on yours too.

FTC DISCLOSURE: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, Claire M. Banschbach. A positive review was not required. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.

Claire M. Banschbach has created another delightful tale in her Faeries of Myrnius series with The Wolf Prince. Set long after the events in Adela's Curse, readers get to revisit a few familiar characters while falling in love with a whole new cast. Killian, Lars and Rose make an unlikely trio on an extraordinary quest to break a double curse and stop a wicked sorcerer.

If you like faeries, quests, troubled princes and the intrigue of a curse, this book may just be a new favorite for you.

I loved this book! I received an ARC from the author. The sibling relationship between Killian and his brother was so much fun to read. I love siblings in stories. All three major characters had good character arcs, and the plot drew me in within a few pages. The villain seemed a little flat and cookie cutter, but that was my only quibble with the book.

Sooooo stinkin' cute!!!! Seriously, Lars and Killian are the best, and I loved Rose so much!! The characters in here are wonderful!!! I loved seeing them all interact. I was surprised when some certain fairies showed up, but wasn't disappointed.

Magic: There is a good bit of that in here. There's a curse put on the royal family, Killian is turned into a wolf, there's magical fairies... There is good magic, and bad magic, however. All the fairies have magic, and the evil sorcerer has tried to gain magic in dark and false ways.
