I figured I had missed at least one other entry in the series based on the way the author introduced characters, but it didn't detract from the telling for me. Jake O'Hara is a ghost writer (there's even a club of them where they anonymously air their grievances and discuss the field), and she's scheduled for an interview for a position with a critic. When the critic is found stabbed, she sleuths her way around the mystery while still ghosting for the position.

This book had a few moments but it sure fizzled out in the end.
