Cornwall's History: an Introduction

Rate this book
Why is Cornwall so "different" from England? The answer lies in its history, the story of a people whose separate identity was formed in early times and has weathered centuries of turmoil and change to the present day. This is in part a story of resistance, sometimes military, sometimes cultural, to English domination, but the Cornish have also been at the forefront of British industry - it was no accident that the very first self-propelled vehicle took to the roads in Cornwall. Cornish pride, independence of spirit and self confidence remain robust. This book explains why.

Interesting little book that sums up why Cornwall is so special. It's language, the dark ages after the Romans, Tintagel and the myth about King Arthur, the land of the saints, the Tudors. I a captivating style the author gathers all kind of interesting information and has many good pictures inside. If you want to know more about this magic part of Britain you definitely should read this short introduction on its history. Really recommended!
